Title: Dolphins - Fishing for Warner!?!?
Post by StegRock on Dec 3rd, 2003, 12:19am
Hows 'bout this HOT story straight off "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)"?  ...

Fins Fishin' for Warner?
About.com: Football (02.12.2003 23:06)
NFL Rumors source Pro Football Talk claims that the Miami Dolphins are interested in obtaining St. Louis Rams quarterback Kurt Warner during the off-season. Word is, the Fins will bring in the former league MVP, assuming he is let go...

Any thoughts on this speculation?  Griese's in the broiler; Fiedler can't seem to do anything (except win) to stay in the fry... I mean fray.  What's up here?  Warner's not the solution, is he?

I dont see why everyone is so down on Fiedler.    Sure, he may not throw for 275 yds and 3TDs every week ala Culpecker, but the NFL isnt fantasy football.  The Dolphins and Dolfans are treating it as if it IS fantasy football.  The bottom line in the NFL is wins...and he puts them up.  Would they be happier if they had Culpecker?  Viqueen fans will be the first to tell you that it doesnt matter how many yds a QB puts up if you dont win.

Given a real NFL franchise, I'd take a Fiedler over a Culpecker any day of the week.

I had heard rumors somewhere along the way that Dallas may also be interested in Warner.  Given the two options, I think Warner would choose Dallas over Miami (assuming the $$$ is equal).

Burt, please put the BONG down and slowly walk away. I would rather have Pepper than Fielder any day of the week. Daunte is so much more gifted and talented. The Vikes don't lose juts becasue of him. I'm not talk about Fantasy wise either. I like Jay, but feel that he like Griese had HUGE shoes to fill.
I agree with ya that most Dolfans want a new QB. I have always said that Fielder is another JIm Harbaugh: Gritty winner/leader. The problem is that he gets hurt every damn year for 2-4 weeks. and when he is out we lose 75% of those games. I wanted Brian and thought that he would be a better backup that Ray Lucas...Too bad, we got the same player, just a different name. I will defend Brian in the aspect of tipped balls and terrible OL play for some mistakes, whereas Lucas just plain sucked! I like Jay and too agree that we could be doing a hell of a lot worse. He is a top 12 QB(play wise, not fantasy wise) when healthy. But he is limited on certain throws.
I have limited interest in Warner. I think he is done. He has looked like a deer in headlights the last 2 yrs. Actually he has not looked same since he lost the SB a few years back.

What's Fiedler's (NFL) record, though, DOLFAN?

And, was this a Freudian-type slip of sorts?  Do I sense a delusion of grandeur?

I actually agree with Burt, my nemesis, not quite 100%, but a solid 80 to 90%!  He definitely has a valid point.

So I forgot the letter I, sorry. I don't own the team of course, but don't think MIA will go for Warner. I personally think his better days are behind him. He fits into a certain system...SPEED... and only a few teams have that type of team. Mia I think will go for someone
younger.

I think Drew Bledsoe really opened some :o to the fact that the days of a pocket passer are numbered.  Kurt Warner is nothing without a great OL & some talented skill players.  He can't create offense on his own.  The league is littered with average QBs.  The only type of QB that can command top [smiley=money.gif] now are guys that can scramble & make something out of nothing.  As much as I dislike him, Fiedler has that ability.  In the redzone he's like a 2nd RB.

You all know that I'm not a fan of Warner but it just hit me. He would be a solid fit for PITT. They have the WRs. They do need OL help and a younger more versatile RB than the RBBC that they have now. Maybe they sign Staley and Warner...That would be very interesting.

Look for Staley to head off to Tampa in the offseason.  Regardless of what anyone (including Andy Reid) says, Staley can still be a #1 back in the league.

(And just to keep the rumors flying, look for Eagles QB AJ Feeley to land in Oakland.)

I agree that Staley can still be a #1 RB in this league. Reid just want to see if the young guys can play. Too bad for Staley's stats. I could se him going to TB, but I don't know if he would go there. That would clearly be the best shot for him to get a SB ring. I also see DET as a very good fit for Staley too.
