Title: Jaguars - QB's prepare for departure

Here's what it says regarding Mark Brunell's future on "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)":

Brunell says he'll play elsewhere in 2004
ESPN: NFL (04.12.2003 15:22)
Longtime Jags starter, team to cut ties Relegated to third on the depth chart and unlikely to take another snap for the franchise he led to two AFC championship games, Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell has acknowledged he will play elsewhere in 2004. The handwriting's been on Brunell's wall for month, given his financial status for next season and the fact he lost his starting job to rookie Byron Leftwich earlier this year. But Brunell's remarks Wednesday represented his first public admission that his tenure with the...

Now, there is also a good chance QB David Garrard, who has been hyped up quite a bit lately, may not be back in Jacksonville next year.  Many believe that he has what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL.  Here's a little tidbit piece on what Buccaneers Head Coach Jon Gruden, who is becoming famous for grooming great quarterbacks, thinks of him and what he brings to the table:

Strong words of praise coming from someone whose opinion cannot just be tacitly ignored.

The departure of Brunell is no surprise.  The question is just where does he end up.  I think he'll resurface in Miami, but that's just my somewhat uninformed opinion.

I know Garrard is well-thought of around the league, but his departure would be a surprise.  I think Jax should do whatever they can to re-sign him.

Garrard has at least one more year on his contract.  He is NOT a free agent.

THe question has arisen if the Jags will trade him at year end.  As stated above, many people like him.  BUT, Del Rio has stated that he does not want to trade him.  He thinks he is too valuable as a back up, especially with Leftwich only entering his second season.

Brunell will not go to MIA. I think MIA will go for some youth as a backup and resign Fiedler. Griese will be gone for sure, unless he tears up his contract. Griese is due a large roster bonus next spring. Brunell would make a good backup for CAR or maybe even SEA to backup Hassy.

I can't imagine that Brunell would go anywhere to be a backup, when there are teams that need starters.

Pittsburgh would be the perfect fit for him.  A year or two as starter while they groom a young player.
