Title: Patriots ~ Week 14 Analysis Post by bakes781 on Dec 5th, 2003, 1:38pm If the [smiley=fish.gif] look a little [smiley=nervous.gif] going into New England, they have reason to be. The Patriots have defeated the Dolphins in five of their last seven meetings in New England. The forecast: Snow and rain likely. Very windy. Highs in the mid 30s. Chance of precipitation 70 percent. We could have a foot of snow by game time. Knowing that Miami will be [smiley=cold.gif] their tails off you might anticipate the Pats [smiley=rollin.gif] all over them. Not likely with these old division rivals. The Pats are coming off a HUGE win that has put them in great shape for the playoffs. Could they be looking ahead to the post season? With all the weapons on offense that Miami showcased on Turkey Day & knowing a win clinches the division, I think NOT. Patriots Statistical Breakdown: Tom Brady ~ 200 yards passing, 1 td & 1 int Kevin Faulk ~ 60 yards rush, 50 receiving Mike Cloud ~ 20 yards rushing & 1 TD Troy Brown ~ STILL questionable Deion Branch ~ 80 yards receiving David Givens ~ 10 yards receiving Dedric Ward ~ 20 yards receiving Christian Fauria ~ 20 yards receiving & 1 TD Daniel Graham ~ 20 yards receiving Adam Vinatieri ~ 4 FGs & 2 PATs(must be accurate) Dolphins Statistical Breakdown: Jay [smiley=mickey.gif] Feidler ~ 150 yards pass, 30 yards rush, 1 TD (rushing) & 1 int Ricky Williams ~ 1 td, 130 yards rush, 20 yards rec Travis Minor ~ 20 yards rushing Rob Konrad ~ 10 yards receiving Chris Chambers ~ 50 yards receiving Derius Thompson ~ 20 yards receiving James McKnight ~ 10 yards receiving Randy McMichael ~ 40 yards receiving Olindo Mare ~ 2 FGs & 2 PATs FINAL SCORE PATRIOTS 26 DOLPHINS 20 [smiley=santa.gif] provides New England with an early Christmas present. The AFC east title & with little help from the Broncos we could be tied with the Chiefs for the top spot in the NFL. |

Title: Re: Patriots ~ Week 14 Analysis Post by Philly on Dec 5th, 2003, 3:17pm I doubt the Pats will be overlooking the Fins... no way that is happening. Anyway, with the weather sitch, the way I see it is that the team that can run the best has the best chance to win. Therefore, I think the Fins can grab this one in a closely fought defensive battle. Fins 16, Pats 13. :-/ |

Title: Re: Patriots ~ Week 14 Analysis Post by bakes781 on Dec 8th, 2003, 9:57am You've heard the term "our best defense is our offense." Well for the Pats it's the opposite of that. Our best offense is our defense. It wasn't pretty but, we got the job done. How many times have I said that? lol Well the New England Patriots now hold the top spot in the NFL. Certainly don't get to say that every week. If you like defense than the Pats-Phins game was your cup of tea. Our new punter got plenty of work on Sunday. So much so that they had Tom Brady attempt a very successful pooch punt late in the game that lead to a safety. Rodney Harrison was a monster out there. He provided us what Milloy hadn't been the last few seasons. Of course, Tedy Bruschi came up with the clincher by picking off Feidler & taking it to the house. Bruschi's last 4 ints have all been returned for TDs! With a 10 point lead the Pats were able to get some quality gains on the ground from Antowain Smith. Yes the same Smith that was inactive at Indy. The elements clearly played a role in the outcome, but that doesn't take away from the effort the Pats D displayed out there on the field. on 12/05/03 at 13:38:36, bakes781 wrote:
