Title: Re: Set my lineup for SEMI-finals Post by Philly on Dec 12th, 2003, 9:29am Ouch... you've got some ugly matchups this week, especially at RB. RB: 1. Alexander 2. Wheatley WR: 1. R. Smith 2. Robinson 3. Boston Flex: 1. Davis (if healthy), otherwise maybe Wayne? TE: 1. Graham |

Title: Re: Set my lineup for SEMI-finals Post by captainpurple on Dec 12th, 2003, 10:04am RB - Philly said it best... Ouch. I disagree with Wheatley, I like White much better vs DEN. Bal can be passed on, but they're not giving anything up vs the run. I'd go Zander and White. WR - I like Philly's picks too, Smith, Robinson, Boston. Tough to sit Wayne vs ATL, but they're spreading it around quite a bit in Indy right now. TE - KSass. Had 2 TDs vs CHI in previous meeting. I like his chances for another. WR/RB - Wayne. Maybe Wheatley and hope for a TD. |

Title: Re: Set my lineup for SEMI-finals Post by Philly on Dec 12th, 2003, 1:23pm Here's my thinking... to further clarify what I posted above... On Wheatley vs. White. I went with Wheatley against Baltimore for a few reasons. Wheatley is a more experienced back and has been producing fairly consistently for a few weeks now. Baltimore probably won't be lighting up the scoreboard too much, so Oakland can still run. Jamel White came in and ran well against St. Louis last week (but the Rams rush defense isn't that great) and was able to run because the Browns hung with St. Louis and kept the score close. Now Denver is on a roll. They are playing well and it is reasonable to think that they should be able to pull away from the Browns. Not to mention that the Denver defense allows less rushing attempts and yards than the Ravens do. As far as TE, I was torn between Kleinsasser and Graham. I like both, but recommended Graham because the Pats won't be able to run much against Jax (because Jax rush defense is good and Pats have no real rushing attack) and will need to throw the ball. Whereas Minnesota will probably be running the ball more than throwing, with the assumption that Minnesota will jump out to a big lead and look to run Bennett/Williams/Smith (whoever is healthy enough) most of the day. |

See, here's my counterpoint on this. First of all, I think Wheatley is due for a weak game (Steggie's ole' "cycles theory"), and who else better than the Ravens to make sure that happens. Also, your contention that the Ravens won't be lighting it up is quite debatable. If the Ravens do pull away, the Raiders will (have to) get away from the run, which bodes well for Garner. I actually think that Garner matches up better against the Ravens than does Wheatley. In any event, there is at least a question mark there. Whereas, with White, he has virtually NO competition for touches out of the back field this week and is both a rushing AND receiving threat. So, whichever way the game goes, close game, Denver run-away, or even Cleveland run-away, White will be a significant factor. This is assuming that it doesn't matter how Jamel gets his yardage, on the ground or through the air. If that is the case, I see White's being the much more "stable" play. [smiley=shrug.gif] |

Title: Re: Set my lineup for SEMI-finals Post by Philly on Dec 14th, 2003, 9:00pm You were right Steg, Wheatley had his down day. He had more opportunities than White, but performed just about the same fantasy-wise. Turns out neither were good choices. Maybe we should've recommended Shipp ahead of White and Wheatley... ::) Which wideouts did you go with bakes? |

Title: Re: Set my lineup for SEMI-finals Post by bakes781 on Dec 15th, 2003, 9:13am STARTERS: QB Garcia 3 TDs [smiley=thumbsup.gif] Tim Hass 4 INTs [smiley=thumbsdown.gif] RB Alexander TD D Davis J White WR Wayne TD R Smith M Robinson TE Kleinsasser BENCH: Wheatley & Shipp were not much better Driver finally woke up TD 112 yds Galloway & Boston stink Graham TD 69 yds OUCH As good as some of my bench players did it wouldn't have been nearly enough for the W. This wasn't a close game. My opponent had Brady, Boldin, M Faulk & RUDI!!! So unless David Akers can make about 30 FGs [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] tonight then I will be looking at a consilation game for 3rd place. [smiley=shootmyself.gif] |
