Title: Need Some WR Advice! Post by BarnabyWilde on Dec 17th, 2003, 12:56am Need to pick 3 for my playoff game: Amani Toomer, Giants @ Dallas Rod Smith, Broncos @ Indy Steve Smith, Panthers home vs Detroit Travis Taylor, Ravens @ Cleveland Freddy Mitchell, Eagles home vs SF Bethel Johnson, Patriots @Jets I am leaning towards Steve Smith, Freddy Mitchell and either Toomer or Rod Smith. Any help would be great! |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by bakes781 on Dec 17th, 2003, 9:19am Smith & Mitchell sound good, but I'd take Taylor over Toomer. Dallas D vs. an inexperienced QB spells disaster. |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by Philly on Dec 17th, 2003, 1:18pm I'd definitely do Smith and Smith. Your #3 is a tough choice. Toomer has a new QB and faces a tough defense. Taylor has been pretty quiet, Wright is inconsistent, and Cleveland plays decent pass defense. Mitchell is dangerous, but his best week will be 4 catches for 60 yards. Johnson is another dangerous WR, but he'll give you 1 catch for 80 yards and a TD or he'll give you nothing. So... 1. Steve Smith 2. Rod Smith 3. Travis Taylor |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by bakes781 on Dec 17th, 2003, 1:33pm I meant Steve Smith just to clarify. Also I'd drop Bethel at this point he has very little value no that Brown is back. Rod Smith has been a disappointment fantasty wise. |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by BarnabyWilde on Dec 17th, 2003, 2:14pm This is a dynasty league, and Bethel sits very low on the depth chart. I have two other recievers out for the year as well. (Keyshawn Johnson and Charles Rogers) He may have some value later on down the road... |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by BarnabyWilde on Dec 17th, 2003, 2:16pm I also like Mitchell's matchup vs. the Niners secondary. That is why I was leaning towards him. |

Title: Re: Need Some WR Advice! Post by Philly on Dec 17th, 2003, 2:25pm Just remember that the Eagles offense is predicated on spreading the ball around. All three running backs get carries. None of the receivers ever has a ten-catch game. So Freddie Mitchell is only going a few passes thrown his way all game, regardless of the match up. Of those few, count on one being a bad throw or a drop, so you're looking at 2-4 catches. Also look at how many times the WR has been the target in the endzone... almost never. So unless a WR catches a short pass and is able to break it for a big gainer, he's not getting the TD. |

I concur! There is no way I'd roll my dice on Freddie [smiley=Freddie.gif] (not that Taylor isn't a bit of a roll of the dice as well). |
