Title: EAGLES....................Week 17 Analysis Post by Philly on Dec 27th, 2003, 9:57am The Eagles stumbled a bit last week and it probably cost them home field throughout the play-offs to the Rams. They'll get back on track this weekend against the Skins. McNabb: Should have a great game to get ready for the post-season. 25-35 339 yards, 2 TDs, 4 carries-27 yards Westbrook: Will be the feature back again this week. 16 carries-102 yards, 1 TD, 3 catches-28 yards Staley: Will still get his. 7 carries-35 yards, 2 catches-22 yards, 1 TD Buckhalter: Back from his suspension. Will get a few carries. 3 carries-9 yards, 1 catch-25 yards Pinkston: Won't repeat last week's effort. 2 catches-30 yards Mitchell: Go-to guy this week? 4 catches-58 yards, 1 TD Thrash: Average effort against his old team. 3 catches-29 yards Lewis: Carrying the load in LJ Smith's absence. 3 catches-33 yards Akers: Won't falter this week. 4-4 XP, 2-2 FG Defense: Will suffer without Emmons, but Ike Reese is a capable back up. 13 points allowed, 120 rush yards, 140 pass yards, 2 INTs, 4 sacks, 1 FR Final Score: Eagles 34 Redskins 13 |

Title: Re: EAGLES....................Week 17 Analysis Post by DirkDiggler on Dec 27th, 2003, 11:36am Philly-- I hope you are correct in your analysis. I actually am going to the game. Pretty excited about it. We get 50 yard line tickets every year from a 30 year season ticket holder. We sit two rows in front of good old Danny boy and all the elitists that sit in the box with him. I am a little nervous, because the Eagles may play down to the Redskins level. I am even more nervous cause this game means so much to the Eagles! And, the Eagles and Redskins tend to split the season series. |

23-32 242 yards, 3 TDs, 3 carries-16 yards, 1 TD Solid game for McNabb. Gotta love those 4 TDs, especially if he was starting for you in a FF play-off game. McNabb is ready for the NFL play-offs. He's healthy and he's confident. Quote:
4 carries-6 yards, 2 catches-15 yards Ouch. This one hurts. Thank God the Eagles have been running 3 RBs all season. There is a small chance that Westbrook could play with his torn triceps, but it seems very unlikely. The Eagles will miss his speed and quickness out of the backfield and as a punt returner. Quote:
5 carries-7 yards, 5 catches-56 yards Staley got involved in the passing game and was not effective as a rusher this week. Quote:
13 carries-54 yards, 3 catches-16 yards, 1 TD The benefactor of the Westbrook injury. Should continue to get most of the carries in the play-offs. Showed excellent effort near the goal-line (as usual). Quote:
3 catches-74 yards This is a surprise. A decent showing to follow his biggest effort last week. Maybe the Todd Pinkston from 2002 has returned? Quote:
4 catches-47 yards, 1 TD McNabb is gaining confidence in Freddie, and Freddie is delivering. This should be setting the foundation for a bigger role next season. Quote:
2 catches-8 yards Washington secondary clamped down on him. He will be used as punt and kick returner as well, so he may be stretched thin. Quote:
1 catch-3 yards, 1 TD Made the most of his one catch, considering nobody bothered to cover him on the play. LJ Smith did return to action this week (surprisingly) and contributed a couple short catches. Quote:
4-4 XP, 1-1 FG Perfect once again. Quote:
7 points allowed, 79 rush yards, 199 pass yards, 1 INT, 4 sacks, 2 FF (none recovered) Defense played very well. Washington has no rushing game, so that helped, although the absence of Troy Vincent clearly hurt the Eagles as Coles was able to get open repeatedly. Quote:
Eagles 31 Redskins 7 I had no worries about this game. Washington is a team in a shambles and needs serious help. The Eagles stepped up and their win, combined with a Lions upset of the Rams, gives the Eagles the top NFC seed and home-field throughout the NFC play-offs. I'm sure Eagles fans are hoping for Dallas to upset Carolina next week to set up a third (and deciding) Eagles-Cowboys showdown for the year. If Carolina wins (as expected), the Eagles will most likely play Green Bay (provided they get past Seattle). |
