Title: Lions Offseason Report Post by DOLFAN on Mar 10th, 2004, 7:45pm Tia signs for 1 year: $1.5M, $750K signing bonus. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1756040 What are other teams thinking? This guy is a good player. WIth some many teams looking for another wr, why not for so little? SF made a big mistake IMO. PHI-#1 T.O. SCREWS yet another SF teammate. He is better than any WR on the team at present MIA- #2 a great fit, big and solid routes, a great compliment to Chambers JAX- #2 would be #1 by years end when Jimmy calls it quits CHI- #2 better than any #2 they have now-Gross is not proven though MINNY-he is better/healthier than Robinson, plus has played in similar offense. Could have been the next Jake Reed KC- again better than ANY wr on thier team I think he wants to try again next year. I hope his contract has incentives. Great pickup for DET! |

I am going to have to disagree with your analysis. He was a decent signing. Streets is a clear #2 receiver. I do not think he would be #1 on Eagles. Nor I do not think he would be #1 on Jax. Why do I disagree? He has NEVER had a 100+ yards. NEVER. He does have 12 TDs over the past two years. I just don't think a guy who has NEVER had a 100 yard game can be deemed a #1. |

Title: Re: Tai Streets to DET Post by DOLFAN on Mar 10th, 2004, 8:25pm Stegey I'm sorry buddy. I started this thread before DD made his post. I put the kids to bed then came back. Anyways please move it to where it blong...DET offseason area. You are correct DD. [smiley=bow.gif] He doesn't have a 100YD game in his entire career. I guess i like the guy too much. I felt he was always held back becasue of Owens. I was wrong. I still think Jimmy Smith is on his way out of the #1 role in JAX as soon as they get good young WR. Nobody can disagree that they need one. I still don't think that Pinkston is better, could be wrong. |

actually, he is probably as good as Pinkston. That says how crappy the Eagles are!! I do agree that it is a good signing for Detroit. I think he will be a good fit there. With that being said, I don't see him being a #1 guy. He had some opportunities last year but never stepped up........ I guess that is what is so great about fantasy football, we are having a conversation about Streets and we agree to disagree. |

Title: Re: Tai Streets to DET Post by BarnabyWilde on Mar 10th, 2004, 8:44pm This is a great signing for the Lions. They got him fairly cheaply. He knows Mooch. He knows the West Coast Offense. He will be a great #2 to Rogers. Now, if Detroit would only sign Hearst, then groom Pinner in a few years, they'd be respectable. Oh yeah, they do need to fix that defense... |

Title: Re: Lions Offseason Report Post by Philly on Mar 10th, 2004, 9:53pm I think Tai Streets would have been the #1 WR on the Eagles had they signed him -- and I'm glad they didn't. They need much better than Streets. However, with TO still hanging in the balance (and probably not coming to Philly--at least not through the efforts of the NFLPA), Darrell Jackson re-signed, etc., the Eagles appear to have been screwed out of a #1 WR through free agency. They won't go for one in the early part of the draft, so we might be looking at the same exact receiving corps as last year in Philadelphia. Yuck! |

Title: Re: Lions Offseason Report Post by BarnabyWilde on Mar 10th, 2004, 10:32pm If they do sign Hearst, the'd have some nice weapons for Harrington. I'd like to see him do well this year. It's really a do or die year for him, in my opinion. |

Title: Re: Lions Offseason Report Post by StegRock on Mar 20th, 2004, 12:41pm How about this news off "The REAL Feed" from a source that is also on "the Gridiron Newsstand"? ... NFL ROUNDUP: Lions talk to Steelers' Zereoue FREEP: Football (20.03.2004 06:14) I have been a fairly staunch critic of Zereoue's. I just did not think he fit Pittsburgh's offensive scheme. However, he would fit Detroit's west-coast offense well. He could blossom there into a solid fantasy back. |

Yeah, as soon as they signed Stephen Alexander last week, they gave Ricks permission to seek a trade. Since no one was biting, they just let him go. Apparently Mooch is pretty happy with Alexander (if he can stay healthy) and Casey Fitzsimmons. |
