Title: Jets Offseason Report
Post by StegRock on May 5th, 2004, 11:18pm
Holy backfield, Batman!  Lots of talk about RB LaMont Jordan comin' out of "the Gridiron Newsstand".  Is he going or is he staying?  What does his future hold as he enters his prime?  Choose your LOCAL source de jour or glean information from them all and form your own take.  The choice is yours on "the Gridiron":

Looks like Brooks Bollinger's descent out of the NFL may be commencing.  This from "The REAL Feed":

In my opinion, this is a great signing for the Jets.  Ricky Ray and Brooks Bollinger just were not going to cut it.  THey will now have an experience back up in case Pennington goes down.

Obviously he is not worth adding to any fantasy roster.  I don't think he is even worth a handcuff spot for Pennington owners.

For anyone holding onto LaMont Jordan hoping for a breakout.... he has been the subject of news this week in the NYC area.  LaMont did not come into camp in good shape and was demoted to third on the depth chart behind Curtis and Jonathon Reese.  Reese has been getting a lot of carries and looked good in the pre-season.

Lamont made some comments and indicated that he was upset by this apparent demotion.  However, it now seems clear that Jordan will return as the primary back-up once the season starts and will get a few carries per game, probably in the Red Zone.

I saw him play in one game and thought he looked good.  He had a couple nice runs, a TD and seemed to be in shape.   I think he could be more productive than Curtis if given the chance, but he has not even come close to earning the job.  The bottom line is I would not hold onto this guy unless you are in a deep keeper.

The way I understood it was the Jordan was not happy that he wasn't going to be the #1 this year.

Herm Edwards wasn't happy with the fact that Jordan was out of shape.

So Edwards is running him with the third team right now as a bit of a statement, however he said that he would be the #2 when the season started and would get some carries.

Let me add...  That's BIG coming from a dude who this offseason traded for and protected Jordan in the GBRFL.  Very objective report and take! [smiley=bow.gif] Kudos, DB! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
