It's early, but not TOO early to start thinking about ranking the players.

Here's my list of top performers for the 2004 season. Feel free to comment and post your own top ten list!

1. Priest Holmes - I doubted him last off-season. 27 TDs and 2100 yards later I can't.
2. Ahman Green - Complete package at RB and GB still has to rely on the run.
3. LaDanian Tomlinson - Go ahead, name one quality receiver for SD... I can't either.
4. Jamal Lewis - Boller might as well still be a rookie, so the Ravens will run, run, run.
5. Kevan Barlow - Surprise, surprise. He finally gets his chance with an inexperienced QB and rookie WRs.
6. Clinton Portis - Not sure what to expect from the Skins running game, but Portis is a stud nonetheless.
7. Ricky Williams - The offense should be improved so Ricky should see a few more holes.
8. Shaun Alexander - Will have to fight for the ball, but is good enough to get it plenty.
9. Deuce McAllister - Consistently puts up good numbers regardless of Saints woes.
10. Rudi Johnson - Runs behind a great offensive line and should keep Chris Perry on the bench.

It's hard limiting the list to 10. Domanick Davis should have a great year. Stephen Davis will share more carries with Foster, but will still get the yards. Thomas Jones could be a sleeper. If Minnesota sticks with one RB, he'll have huge numbers. Fred Taylor isn't dead yet, although he won't get the TDs. Corey Dillon???

Good list. I am in agreement with your top 4, although I'd shuffle them a bit (Lt, Preist, Ahman, Lewis). After that there is a huge dropoff and maybe 8 guys in a group. I'd probably put Ricky, Deuce, and Alexander as 5-7 mainly because their situations haven't changed much. I'll add Dillon, Barlow, and Portis to round out my ten. I'd also add one more caveat to yours - expect one of the Denver RBs to be in the top ten at the end of the year - not sure which one.

1. LaDainian Tomlinson (FF and NFL MVP 2004)
2. Priest Holmes (Age will start to catch up, beware 2005)
3. Ahman Green
4. Jamal Lewis
5. Ricky Williams (Will be closer to 2002 than 2003)
6. Deuce McAllister
7. Corey Dillon (NE is truly scary with Dillon in backfield)
8. Shaun Alexander
9. Kevan Barlow (not enough around him and not quite good enough to totally carry team)
10. Clinton Portis (new situation worries me a bit)

1. Deuce McAllister Schedule
2. Clinton Portis Gibbs
3. Shaun Alexander Contract year
4. Priest Holmes Fourth because it isn't last year
5. LaDainian Tomlinson What Philly said, what else can they do
6. Jamal Lewis That's who he is
7. Fred Taylor He isn't getting injured
8. Ahman Green After Favre gets injured
9. Rudi Johnson Dillon's gone
10.Ricky Williams At least they can depend on this

Henry & Bennett should see RBBCs. Faulk should see injury. James maybe should be higher because of his O. Steven Davis may have more, I like him. We'll see about Tatum Bell, he may be in there, too.

I love this. [offtopic]I was reading another site the other day, and it was as if they were all robots (or sheep). Everyone had already decided who the top guys were and almost completely agreed that it would go a certain way (btw - not really even close to what any of the 3 posts above have). Kind of like a bunch of Dodo birds walking off the cliff together. And if someone did happen to disagree in a major way :gasp:, that person would be flamed regardless of the evidence given to support the opinion. [/offtopic]

1. Priest Holmes - He is money
2. LaDanian Tomlinson - only option
3. Ahman Green - The only GB player I would have on my FF team
4. Shaun Alexander - puts up numbers every year
5. Jamal Lewis - Will be the O
6. Clinton Portis - can put up numbers on any team
7. Deuce McCallister - always does well
8. Edgerrin James - one of many weapons
9. Ricky Williams - is their best option
10. Fred Taylor - stayed healthy

That is my top ten alot of the same players from the last 2 years. O.K. all the same players it could be a list from 2002 or even 2001 minus Faulk. I just can't see putting anybody else on my list, maybe Barlow for Taylor.

1. Holmes: Still the man

2. Lewis: Off season probles will not stop him

3. Tomlinson: WIll have to carry load once again

4. Alexander: His time to shine

5. Portis: New team, same results

6. Williams: Will have his workload lightened

7. A. Green: DOesn't get all the hype, but does the job well

8. McAllister: Coming on

9. James: All the way back from injury this year

10. Barlow: A new era begins in SF
