Title: Top Ten FF QBs for 2004
Post by Philly on May 7th, 2004, 10:14am
Now that the NFL draft is complete and training camp is just around the corner, maybe it is time to start thinking about FF for 2004 again.

So, without any further ado, let's post our top 10s for 2004.  I know these are early rankings and will probably change multiple times before FF draft time, but it should spark some debate and discussion.

1. Peyton Manning - There's no reason to expect anything less than his past performances.
2. Daunte Culpepper - Better weapons, better defense.  Should be a great year.
3. Matt Hasselbeck - He's gotten better every year.
4. Chad Pennington - Running game is getting weaker, but Moss and McCareins should help Pennington post big FF numbers.
5. Tom Brady - He's been efficient in the past.  Now look for him to step it up statistically.
6. Donovan McNabb - The addition of TO will make a big difference.
7. Marc Bulger - No more looking over his shoulder.  This is his team and it has explosive weapons.
8. Jake Delhomme - He started to put it together late last year.  He could surprise this year.
9. Trent Green - The guy puts up huge numbers, but will drop a bit from last year.
10. Byron Leftwich - He has the weapons and the skills.  He'll put both to good use in his sophomore season.

I definitely LOVE your bottom 5 guys and am hoping your right! Especially of Bulger & Bryon. And Delhomme should step it up this year in passing stats since, that OLINE has been revamped - Foster to get more time - and they might have to change their "power running" game strategy a bit this year in order to keep those chains moving.
It will be interesting to see what the Pats do this year on Offense since they really haven't had a bonified every down Back on their Offense like Dillon is/was/is.
Peyton I believe - and this is just superstitious on my part - will have a "down" year. Big contract.
Duante will increase a bit like you said and so will Matt Hasselback which means, hold on to their WRs this year - Koren might break out a bit more.
If McCareins can handle the #2WR spot (he mostly worked from the slot last season) then, Chad should have a very successful seasoning!

1.  Daunte Cuppepper   As Philly said, better weapons & D, but he goes over P. Manning because of his running

2.  Payton Manning   The best Manning so far.  Only second because of the team around Culpepper and Culpepper's extras

3.  Donovan McNabb   T.O. is in the house

4.  Michael Vick   West Coast Offense

5.  Marc Bulger   Great team around him, and he's now been around long enough

6.  Chad Pennington   Has a decent target, just gets better and better

7.  Matt Hasselbeck   Given the chance and having the target

8.  Aaron Brooks  Weapons

9.  Jake Plummer  Into the system

10. Trent Green  The system

I say McNair & Favre get injured.

Title: Culpepper

Im have tend to notice the fall of the the vikings as a common thing dating back to the denny green era...againest the falcons in NFC champ game.  1 minute left and what do they do? take it to overtime...well thier season have kinda been like that ever since...for some reason they bomb out passes and score mass touchdowns the first 8 weeks...then everyone is prepared for the lob and defend it well...and they have a second half season shutdown.  In my opnion they need to eventually find a new spark...hopefully bennet fully healed will fix it...but i dont see daunte coming out in top 10 Qbs.

way to go out on a limb there Justin (sameoldsameold) and take an opinion on a very successful and popular QB that not only has the OLINE & WRs to be a top 10'er but also the arm.
I liked the fact that you backed up your opinion w/ a solidly decent rationale!
