Title: plan (a) vs. plan (b)... Post by prm on Jul 20th, 2004, 8:52pm hi guys...i'm in an auction league ($200 cap)- on EVERYBODY'S advice, i agree i have to keep jamal lewis ($33)...contrary to popular belief, i believe a top qb is worth the money (i've won 4/6 superbowls with that strategy) - but i've also always had 2 legitimate starters @ rb...this year, im thinkin': (a). culpepper for up to $40 (all i'm spending on qb) (b). a. brooks / delhomme (both of which i'm sure i can get for UNDER $40)... (by the way - by choice b could you tell i'm a saints homer???) i'll get another to 10 back and believe i can sneak duckett under the radar for my #3... what do you think??? prm... |

Title: Re: plan (a) vs. plan (b)... Post by Philly on Jul 20th, 2004, 10:52pm Is J-Lew the only keeper? What kind of scoring do you have? How many players (and positions) do you start? Is it reasonable to think you could get Culpepper for $40? I've never played in an auction league, but it seems that I've seen him going for more than $20 in $100-cap mocks. |

Title: Re: plan (a) vs. plan (b)... Post by sexydexy on Jul 21st, 2004, 3:58am Culpepper for $40 is too much if you want to get another top 10 back. Because then...well, that's gonna be a ton of cap. |

I'm not sure what you're asking. I can see someone questioned you on the need for a top flight QB already, and you seem to be set on this strategy. However, 2 legitimate RB starters is key, and I'm not sold on Duckett as a legit starter. With Vick back, that offense is going to take on a completely different face. Will he perform like he did at the end of last year? Will he have the touches to do so? Philly's question on scoring is a valid one. My league gives 1 pt / reception (punt, kick or pass). That makes Harrison , who gets 5-7 recs/ game, worth a heck of a lot more. Dante Hall got me 15-25 every week last year. Since I don't see you mentioning a WR at all, am I to assume you have very limited scoring for receivers? I guess if my choice were just between your plans a and b, I'd go with plan A. I'm not sold on Duckett, and don't like giving up CPepp for him. That's solid analysis, no homer-ism! Really! [smiley=horse.gif] |

Title: Re: plan (a) vs. plan (b)... Post by prm on Jul 21st, 2004, 8:04pm thanks for the input - duckett isn't to be my #2 - i'll get deuce - no matter what he costs (couldn't keep him b/c i paid $61 last year) - i'll pay it this yr if i have to...($40 was what both qb's cost last yr)...duckett could be #3 - i may even drop lower...rb's go hot & heavy in my league...scoring is pretty standard...6 for td - rb/wr/te/d.st...3 for passing (qb)...and yardage bonuses (standard also)...everything else goes pretty low b/c we spend the $$ on rb (mostly) - wr are a dime a dozen & i usually play matchups with them all season - but again, it works for me...does that clear things up a bit??? thanks again for the input... prm... |

Title: Re: plan (a) vs. plan (b)... Post by KillerKingSting on Jul 22nd, 2004, 2:18am Duckett will prove all you nay-sayers terribly wrong this year. Yes yes yes [smiley=tired.gif] VICK is back BUT, you don't think Atlanta wants to play the season without him again do yah? Duckett is the ONLY player on that team that can handle a load (Dunn snaps like twig - Vick is injury prone) carrying the ball. Duckett WILL get his this year and IF you were a gambling man - you could easily pace him as your #2 and spend your cap elsewhere. To boot, he will be a GREAT #3. In addition, Atlanta purchased the services of Denver's OLINE coach and we all know what the Broncos produced with just about ANY RB in their lineup. See Duckett Run. See Captain Purple & Sexy Dexy Cry. See Duckett score TDs. See Prm win another league championship. ;D |
