Title: Should I keep these players Post by steelkings on Aug 11th, 2004, 8:29am Scoring only. I have to announce my keepers by friday. Yardage is not a factor. heres my possibilities with the draft spot I must surrender to keep them. Tiki Barber 4th round Tommy Maddox 5th round Jimmy Smith 6th round Dominick Davis 8th round David Carr 11th round Im also being offered Marcus Robinson and Micheal Bennent for Dominic Davis. Give me your thoughts please. I pick 3rd in the 1st round 9th in the second round 2nd in the 3rd round 11th in the 4th round Remember, they must score to get me points. |

You definitely need to keep Domanick Davis for an 8th rounder. I think Jimmy Smith will have very nice year, and he is going in the 5th round in most (performance) drafts, so he's a bargain for a 6th too. I'd be hesitant to trade DD for Bennett and Robinson. I'm not sure how often Bennett will find the endzone compared to DD, and DD is such a bargain as an 8th round pick. |

Title: Re: Should I keep these players Post by captainpurple on Aug 11th, 2004, 1:36pm I like Jimmy Smith a lot this year. If the zebras hold to their promise of keeping DBs off receivers past 5 yards, guys like Smith, Dyson, Harrison etc. will see nice years IMO. Davis is a must keeper vs 8th, and as much as my Viking heart wants to pull the trigger on your trade, I gotta go with Philly on this one. Since you only get points on scoring, and not receptions or yards, DDavis is probably a better keeper than Bennett. I don't like Tommy at 5th, and have never been a Tiki fan, especially this year. I don't see the G-Men fairing well with Warner. Eli starts in NY by game 6 I bet. David Carr is intriguing at 11th. He's projected to have a much better year with an improved running game and nice recievers in Johnson & Miller. Sorry to be vague, but that one's a maybe. GO VIKES! |

Title: Re: Should I keep these players Post by DUKE0313 on Aug 11th, 2004, 8:17pm Let Tiki go...Coughlin favors the big power RB's and Ron Dayne will definitely get a new chance to shine in The Big Apple. At the very least, they'll be splitting time, and Dayne may get the majority of goal line opportunities. Likewise, turn Maddox loose...you can do better in the 5th round. The rest of those guys could turn out to be pretty decent bargains, especially Domanick Davis! No trade! |

Title: Re: Should I keep these players Post by The_Dog on Aug 11th, 2004, 10:19pm Davis is a must keep......big time bargin I would drop the rest. Unlike the rest of you guys I think Smith is just about done, not to mention the drug issue. Maddux came back to reality and may not even be starting by game 5 or 6. Tike......maybe. 4th round though may be to much for a running back who was a big time disappointment last year. Carr????Who knows he may be worth holding on for next year, but I wouldn't want to count on him this year. I would also give serious thought to that trade. Davis is playing for a really bad team and I think he may have been a flash in the pan. Bennett when healthy is very good and can break long td runs (I don't know if that is extra in your league but he is truly a burner and will break his fair share of 50+ tds). I normally am not a Robinson fan, but he can find the end zone and the Vikings love to throw the ball, so in a scoring league he is above average. Hope that helps. |

Title: Re: Should I keep these players Post by StegRock on Aug 13th, 2004, 2:35am Scoring-only league... Drop like a bad habit: Tiki Barber and Tommy Maddox! I would not do the trade. Robinson may not even be healthy (again) (see the "Offseason Vikings Report in 'the Red Zone'"). And, this is scoring-only. Bennett will be significantly vultured by both Smith and Williams (and Culpepper for that matter). The other three, relative to the expense to you, are surely keepers, particularly, as some of the others have stated, Jimmy Smith and Domanick Davis. Good luck in any case, brother! At halftime...Tiki-4 rushes for 20 yds. Dayne-7 rushes for 102 yds and TWO TD's. Coughlin loves those BIG BOYS! |
