Title: Rex Grossman injury

No word yet on the extent of the injury.  I'm sure they will MRI it.  He was really coming along from what I hear (I have not seen much of his games here in the North East).

The injury occurred on a TD run.  This could be bad for T Jones owners as well.  That Quinn guy did not look good.  Please post if you have further news.

THIS IS GONNA SUCK BIG TIME.  QUINN STINKS AS HIS BRIEF SHOWING WAS TERRIBLE.  BEARS FANS AT LEAST WERE INTO THE GAME AND WE STILL HAD A CHANCE THE WHOLE GAME UNTIL GROSSMAN GOT HURT.  WHAT A DOWNER.

Fear not my CAPSLOCK friend........While this is not an ideal situation (for those who don't know he is officially out for the year with a ruptured ACL) Grossman is not the focal point of this offense. The offensive line is good and the running game is well above average. When Terry Shea (oc) came over one of his first moves was bringing in Quinn. He likes Quinn and sees a lot of potential in him. He is a monster 6'6" and can really throw the pill..........

I don't see the Bears doing much worse do to this situation. They can still see an 8-8 record with the light schuedule that they have in the second half.

While I wouldn't start Quinn right away I wouldn't be afraid to pick him up and have him as a number 2. Remember Trent Green didn't have the best numbers before he started in Sheas offense.........he might just be what the doctor ordered?????

Jevon Kearse and Hugh Douglas are licking their chops for the week four match-up!   [smiley=tonguin.gif]

[smiley=thumbsup.gif]  I like this signing a lot.  The Bears competed with Dallas for him and lost out.  Now they have their chance!

The Bears passing game isn't going to scare anybody anymore (not that it did before , but a D had to at least respect it.  Now, you can expect to see 8 and even 9 in the box at times to stop TJ.  Not many other than you and Shea have any confidnece Quinn will be able to make defenses pay for that.

Whoa!  This team is a 4-12 team, 5-11 maybe!    There just aren't enough Ws out there that I can find.   Here's their schedule:
PHI - L
WAS - W
@TB - W
SF - W
@NYG - L
@TEN - L
IND - L
@DAL - L
MIN - L
@JAX - L
HOU - W
@DET - L
GB - L

I think I was generous on a couple of these Ws, and can only find 5 wins.

Rest assured, he'll be there when you decide to grab him, cuz no one else will!  C'mon!  Grossman is probably not even on anyone's roster, why would Quinn all of a sudden make a solid #2?

Sorry Dog, but the Bears are done for this year.  If it weren't for MIA, you'd probably be looking at a #1 pick.

From currently atop "The REAL Feed":

Grossman goes on IR; Bears add Hutchinson
The Sports Network: NFL (28.09.2004 16:17)

They claim that Hutchinson will become the immediate backup to now starter Jonathan Quinn.  Hutch, I think, believe it or not, may be the better option sooner than later.  He had a great couple games in NFL Europe, somewhat of a breeding ground for NFL quarterbacks, before he got injured.  I believe that the reason he didn't stick in Dallas was a personality conflict with Parcells.  In any event, it's worth at least noting this signing.

Captian........you must not have a lot of respect for your Vikings then. We had a chance to beat you with 1 minute 50 left in your home. The only difference is you sub Quinn in for Grossman. Grossman does not make that big of difference in this offense.

8-8 is not a tall order.........
PHI -     tough game very little chance to win
WAS -   not scary at all  should be a win
@TB -    who does Tampa scare
SF -       horrible
@NYG -  very very average
@TEN -  not the Tennesse of old but will be tough
IND -     very hard game
@DAL -  Bill Parcells has no offense here
MIN -     should have beat them in Minn
@JAX -   no offense
HOU -    average
@DET -  pay back is a bitch
GB -       already beat them in GB

finding 7 wins in this bunch is not that hard.

Vikes vs Bears is always a slugfest.   Hell, 15-1 in 1998, but we still only beat the Bears by 3 in the firt meeting (beat 'em by 26 in the second meeting  [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif]).  I'm not going to knock my Vikes too much for this ugly win:
    we had a rookie starting his 1st game vs Ogunleye
    we lost 2 of 3 starting LBs
    we lost our starting center
If you know about those injuries going in, that's one thing.  But to have to throw players into situations they aren't ready for is another.  From middway through the 2nd qtr, we had a rookie playing the Mike, first time ever at that position in the pros!   I'll take the W and allow some poorer play with those mitigating factors.

@TB -    who does Tampa scare I agreed, but it's @TB, I think I'm being generous here - W
SF -       horrible I agreed here too.- W
@NYG -  very very average offense is starting to score points, dont think CHI will keep up, and it's on the road - L
@TEN -  not the Tennesse of old but will be tough too tough - L
IND -     very hard game impossible game - L
@DAL -  Bill Parcells has no offense here they have a decent pass game, not great.  they're D will stifle CHI though - L
MIN -     should have beat them in Minn disagree, but this will be another slugfest; add homerism  ;) = L
@JAX -   no offense best D in the game right now, they only need 7 to win - L
HOU -    average QB might have settled by here, so yes, I agree - W
@DET -  pay back is a bitch but the Bears won't get any - L
GB -     already beat them in GB havent swept Pack since 1991, wont this year - L

finding 7 wins in this bunch is not that hard.

I definitely can't find 7.  I can s t r e t c h to find 6, but I'd bet it's 4 or 5.

I think the Bears will be lucky to win 2 or 3 games the rest of the way.  For the second DET game, you mention payback as a reason the Bears can win, but you ignore the same reason for the GB game the next week...?

You need to take off those homer glasses for a minute and realize that your team is in trouble.  They have one RB (with a shaky past) and not a whole lot else.   ;)

If I was a homer I would be talking playoffs......I am talking 8-8, they were 7-9 last year and they added Thomas Jones, the top sack guy from the AFC, and 2 very good offensive linemen. What did they lose? Marty Booker. Now they also lost Mike Brown and Rex Grossman. Well last year we didn't have a good QB all season.

So I would still say they are better than last year, with about the same strength of schedule. So again I say there is no reason why they can not be 8-8.

Time will tell.........
