Title: RB Query
Post by Keyshawn Johnson 76yards on Sep 28th, 2004, 10:53pm
Made numerous amount of deals and pick-ups and now I'm having trouble figuring out who to start.  :-/

I can start 2.

I have Faulk @ SF, Stecker @ Ari, R. Johnson @ Pitt, T.Jones @ Phi, and T. Barber @ GB.

Faulk and Stecker are what I have now. Though, I can't really decide...

Also,

I have at QB A. Brooks and T. Brady and at WR C. Johnson, A. Johnson, J. Porter, and D.Givens. Should I try trading some of my RBs for an upgrade at those positions or should I be good for now?

I have the same pair of QB's and I am very happy with them.

You have great RB's. If you could upgrade at WR, I'd do it.

As for starting RB's this week, I'd go in order:

1. Barber
2. Faulk
3. TJ
4. Rudi
5. Stecker

Tiki is a good play vs Green Bay's swiss cheese defense. Faulk vs. the Niners should net you some points. Jones is also a good play, as Grossman was injured and the Bears will run more.

First off, I like TJ this week.  Quinn is not going to carry the Bears; TJ is the alpha and the omega when it comes to that offense.   As such, he should get 30+ touches and get you some good points.  The order I like them:

Barber
TJ
Rudi
Stecker
Faulk

Secondly, you are right on with your trade inclination.  Upgrade your receivers, keep your QBs and look forward to the playoffs brother!

GOOD LUCK!

I agree with the captain's order of preference.

However, I actually like your WR corps. Johnson and Johnson are a solid 1-2 punch as starters. Porter should see his numbers improve with Collins at QB and weak defenses down the road. And Givens could be the #1 WR on the Pats.

If you really feel like you need to upgrade (I don't think you do), then see if you can unload Faulk before he gets hurt.

I concur with a lot of the sentiments expressed heretofore, especially as regards Philly's advice to move Faulk... soon.

Personally, I would go with Faulk and Barber.  I think they give you the best combination of safe bets and best upswing.  Thomas Jones would be my third choice.

Keeping in mind that matchups aren't everything, Stecker vs NO is a must start. NO is the worst fantasy def vs fantasy rb scoring in the league thru 3 weeks. Rudi is up against #9, T Jones vs #19, Barber vs #27, and Faulk vs #23.

Edit to add: Assumig fairly typical performance based scoring system

Pretty straight forward. Using standard performance scoring, New Orleans has surrenderd the most points to running backs thru week 3. I am talking a teams rb corp.
New Orleans has given up 85 fantasy points to running backs.

Let's  see if this posts ok

New Orleans vs RB      85
Saint Louis vs RB      69
Cincinnati vs RB      68
Kansas City vs RB      66
Green Bay vs RB      62

faulk
tj
stecker
barber
rudi...
stecker's gonna be worthless when deuce gets back - and it may be sooner than they are saying...tj's gonna be utilized more heavily now...barber has to not muck things up before i believe he won't (eventually)...i'd see who  ;)(sooner than later) ;) you could deal for a bigger receiver - couldn't hurt - with rb injuries at a crazy level now - you might have some luck [smiley=shamrock.gif]...good luck,

I currently proposed a trade....

I would be trading Faulk, Jerry Porter, and my Cleveland DEF

for Chris Brown, Warrick, and the Baltimore DEF.

I wouldn't be upgrading my WR corps, but I believe, like Philly said Johnson & Johnson should be solid, I also really like David Givens.

I think more then anything I need a huge upgrade at DEF, as I am adding and dropping each week to find the right matchup, and Baltimore is as good as it gets.

Thanks for all the advice so far. Currently have T.Jones and T. Barber starting, at the moment.

I agree that T.J is all the Bears have. He should get 30 carries . However, J. Quinn is terrible. Philly is going to load up and make Quinn beat them in the air. The only thing TJ is going to get is hurt. Also, I look for the Bears to be behind big early. That too will limit the success of TJ. Three yards and a cloud of dust times 30 = 90 yrds. If you can live with that .....Start him.

Wouldn't this be a an argument to start Emmitt Smith?

Yup, the good 'ol brain fart strikes again.  [smiley=laugh.gif]

It hit me about 30 minutes after I posted, but 15 minutes after I'd hit the road.
