Yes, you need the help at receiver. Your running backs are solid with Davis or without him, which has been the case anyway. Mason would be a REAL upgrade to your current receiving corps. Forget about RB's being more valuable than WR's in this case. Mason is solid Top 12. Davis is a constant ?.

This is my one response to these kinds of threads for the night. If you haven't figured it out yet, fellas, I'm stretched pretty thin these days (in particular, right now, paper due Friday. I will try to get to some more threads later in the week.)

I agree. With Holmes and Westbrook you are strong at RB. Dont get me wrong, Davis will be great now that he's back, but your receivers are all very inconsistent. Mason should help that out a bit, especially if McNair starts airing it out a bit more.

Westbrook is the starting RB on a good team, but that doesn't make him a good fantasy back. He doesn't have a score yet this year, so you a need good ydg point system or pts for receptions.

Avg scoring: 20 yds/pt
Westbrook has scored 7, 6, 3 & 8.

RB friendly scoring 10 ru yds/pt & 20 rec yds/pt
Increases his totals to 13, 9, 7 & 17

Avg with reception pts 20 yds/pt + 1 pt/rec
Totals: 10, 11, 10, 17

IMO, this analysis indicates he's a 3rd RB if you have standard scoring and no rec. pts. He could be a #2 if you have scoring rules 2 or 3, or if you think he'll start hitting the TDs. I wouldn't count on it; however, as the Philly schedule has some pretty good Ds on it: CAR, BAL, PIT, DAL, WAS & GB [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif] oops! forget about that last one

Most WR scoring is 20 yds/pt, with optional rec. pts. Mason scores: pts (if receptions included )

5 (13)
2 (6)
10 (22)
9 (13)

One point to recognize, Mason has some very weak pass Ds on the schedule: MIN, CIN, CHI, HOU, IND, OAK

Finally, Stephen Davis hasn't got much to analyze, but his schedule looks a lot better than Westbrooks.

As I see it, unless you get reception points, this deal doesn't work for you. You'd be forced to start Westbrook who isn't a #2 and has some tough Ds. Mason is only 1 of several targets in TEN, and won't be as consistent as Stephen Davis, IMO.

Not sure where you get your scoring from, but standard performance scoring for RBs is 1 point for 10 yards rushing or receiving and 6 points for TDs.

Using that scoring, Westbrook is a solid #2 FF RB. In my money league, using that scoring, Westbrook has (in his four games) scores of 15, 11, 7, 17.

Some leagues give bonus points for long runs/catches or a point per reception. In both of these, BWB is a good play because he has the ability to break the long run at any time and also is an integral part of the receiving game. He is targetted frequently (and does not drop many passes). Through four games he has been targetted 28 times and has 24 receptions. (I can't remember if any of those 4 were drops or uncatchable passes, off the top of my head, but it's a sweet percentage nonetheless).

As for BWB not scoring, don't worry, he will. In 2003 he had 7 rushing TDs and 4 receiving TDs in part-time duty. He is touching the ball much more this season.

So go ahead and make the trade. Mason is getting a lot of looks in the Tennessee offense and will produce as a #1 or #2 FF WR for you.

If there's anything standard about FF scoring, it's that there's no standard. [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif] I think all the yahoo leagues default to 20/ru & rec. CBS Sportsline does as well, if I remember correctly. Anyway, that's where I got it.

Either way, we need your scoring system CommodoreKeith, as that makes a significant difference to a players value.

i wouldn't - receivers are a dime/dozen & flavor of the week...if you're doing well in the standings, play matchups off the ww or with trades...if not, i still wouldn't trade a starting rb for a wr unless someone offered you a STUD - & right now, mason isn't a stud...
