Title: Trade:  Tomlinson for CPepp?
Post by captainpurple on Oct 14th, 2004, 10:48am
I've got Vick and recently acquired BigBen.   I had Collins but dropped him for all the obvious reasons.  I'm 1-4 and desparately need a QB who can score positive pts.   [offtopic] I would be 3-2 if I had a QB who reliably got me 10 stinkin points!  1TD & 80 yds passing, too much to ask??  Vick SUCKS! [smiley=fumin.gif][/offtopic]
So I've been offered, unsolicited, the following:  I get David Carr, he gets LT2.   Obviously he thinks I'm a moron, which my wife would agree with, but that's a different story.  I'm thinking of countering LT2 for CPepp.

My other RBs:  Chris Brown & Bennett.  We start 2 + 1 WR/RB flex.

So I'm obviously upgrading my QB, but I'm in a world of hurt at RB.   There's not much on the WW, best prospects:
    Richie Anderson & R Lee
    Pittman
    Pinner

I'd probably grab Pittman, who's scored 3 & 8 in the two games he's played, by my leagues scoring.

Like I said, I'm 1-4 and going up against an undefeated team this week.  Need a win or my season is pretty much done.

Opinions?  Thanks!

I think this trade would be a bad move for you.  I realize that CPepp has started out red hot but LT is a stud running back.  He will eventually explode.  I think the main problem would be that if you traded LT, you would have an incredibly poor backfield.  Big Ben looks like he may be able to put up some decent numbers for you.  I wouldnt give up on LT just yet.  Daunte is also due for a couple of his 130 yard 4 int games.

LT will explode, like Ricky did in 2003?   Like CMart in 2002?   Like Ahman so far in 2004?   Or Portis in 2004?

Every year there is a superstar that goes early and doesn't perform.

As far as a wait and see approach, I don't have that luxury.   Sure, I can wait another 3 weeks.  Lose 3 more games, then take solace in the fact that my 1-7 team ended up 6-8.  I didn't make the playoffs, didn't win any money, but hey!  I stuck with my guys and they eventually came around!

Just trying to decide if I gotta get something done  now.

I'd trade LT2 for CPep in a heartbeat.  First off, how hurt is LT2?  I'm sure he'll play, but he was hurt earlier this season too (was it preseason? I don't remember), so maybe he's got these nagging things that don't go away.

Who does this guy have at RB?  Maybe you can package Vick (and send him some of KKS's analysis of how Vick is getting ready to explode onto the FF scene again) with LT2 for Carr and a decent (though not as good as LT2) RB.

In the short term, Pinner and Pittman aren't terrible options.  Pinner will get plenty of carries (especially if Roy Williams is gimpy) and he scored last week.

I shot high and offered him LT2 for CPepp & D Davis.   I'm sure he'll decline, but we have at least set the bar high.

He has DDavis, WGreen, Edge & Duckett.   I don't see Carr as that much of an upgrade over Big Ben, so I don't think I'll settle for less than CPepp.

I agree, short term these guys could plug in.  Minny has a lot of weak pass Ds on their schedule, so a lost TD from LT2 is almost certainly picked up by CPepp.

Dont make the deal grab pittman   LT always finishes the season strong.  Vick should do better as we go along i would give him another shot this weekend.  HOW MANY MORE WEEKS IS CPEPP GOING TO GET 5TDS

Again, I don't have much flexibility to wait for Vick and/or LT2 to turn it on.  At 1-4, I've got only 1-2 losses left.  If I fall to .500, doubtful to make the playoffs.   It's all well and good to say he'll turn it around, but what good does that do a 1-6 team?

I don't need 5 TDs,   I JUST NEED 1 OR 2 WITHOUT 3 FUMBLES AND AN INT.   VICK SUCKS!

[smiley=bonghit.gif] call me crazy...but i've won 4/6 championships :o, and i still say a stud qb was the difference - mine were kordell (in his only great year) - and warner - i don't think culpepper's gonna slow down much...i'd do that trade & spend a little extra money picking up good matchups for a few weeks [smiley=fingerscrossed.gif] - injuries this year are making that an option...shanny's probably found his boy - even though i don't trust him  [smiley=gonecrazy.gif](shanny) - so there's on possible ww grab..if not, just see what you can string together b/c your qb points will BE THERE!!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...for what it's worth..

well it all depends what you think of vick....steve young said vick wont grip the offense well till about week 10....if you believe in the vickster....then i would keep LT2 cause this could be a nice duo if vick ever plays to his potential....vick has to start getting better soon eh? i say hold out another week if you can....give vick one last chance.......if he will trade now he will trade next week....

 WEEK 10!!! I'll be 1-9 by then with his super-human-sure-to-be-a-HOFer performances the last 3 weeks (-1, 3, -2)

I did draft day, I don't now.

does he?   does his injury-prone history coupled with the fact that he's underperforming just plain not performing make him of any use for 4 more weeks (til week 10).

Why wait 1 more week?  if he's not going to grasp the O til week 10, what's 1 more week get me?

dont take many chances eh? you have roth...you can hold onto vick for now....i dont think it is beneficial to make the trade....the drop off in QB points is very small after a few guys...i say hold on to your QBs and play it out....

just to be clear, I'm not dumping Vick, i'm attempting to upgrade my QB while Vick continues to suck major a$$.  I think I can cover LT2s output with CPepp, and am trying to decide if I can get enough more from CPepp to cover the drop off in RBs I'll take on.

Can you offer him LT2, Vick, and Bennett for C-Pep and Edge?  (Edge has been doing very well this season, even when he was hurt.)

You'd get two sure point getters every week.  I know C-Pep won't get 5 TDs every week, but he'll get at least 2 TDs and no less than 250 pass yards.
