Title: another trade ???  - dif league
Post by kec6906 on Oct 19th, 2004, 3:07pm
last trade ? for the week (i hope)

i was offered Dillon, choice of 1 of these WR's - Roy Williams, Moulds, Toomer, Caldwell (inj), Glenn, AND his 1st round pick next year  for  LT2.

10 team 2 division keeper league (2 keepers)

scoring (RB & WR) td = 6pts, 10 yds =1 pt, 40+ yd td bonus, (QB) td = 4 pts, 25 yds = 1 pt, 40+ yd td bonus, int = -1 (plus Def/ST & head coach points - not important for trade)

my team is 2-4 in division w/ the powerhouses (two 5-1 teams & one 4-2 team, the other team is also 2-4)

QB - Harrington, Carr    [start 1]

RB - LT2, Barlow, Bell, Zereoue   [start 4 between RB/WR]

WR - C Johnson, Price, Evans, A Davis, Stokely

TE - LJ Smith

K - Vandy

DEF/ST - NE, TB

Head Coach - Martz (stl), Del Rio (jac)

the more i look at the offer, i'm leaning towards no but what do you think?

thanks.          KC    [smiley=eagle.gif]

I say no as well. Your WR corps is decent but they are all underachieving this season. Price will come around, I think, as will CJ. I'd stay put.

I'll play devil's advocate here...

Realistically, right now you have an average team.  Your record indicates that as well.  Plus you are in the same division as the best teams.  How do your playoffs work?  If it looks like you have no shot to make them, then why not do the trade?

Dillon is solid and plays for a good team.  He's no LT2, but he's been as good recently.  Plus you can add Roy Williams AND you get a #1 pick to boot.  (With only 2 keepers per team, there will be some really nice players still available for you to draft.)

If you still think you can make a run for the league playoffs this year, then don't do the trade.  But if you're ready to throw in the towel, why not give it a go?

2 keepers... almost not even worth factoring in...  I am going to go against the majority here.  I would, IN A HEARTBEAT, do what Phil suggests above.  Dillon, Roy Williams AND a 1st Round Pick next year for Tomlinson.  It is worth it!  Don't hesitate!  I actually think, unlike Phil, that it could make your team better this year.
