Title: Any news on Roy Williams
Post by twelve12 on Oct 21st, 2004, 4:55pm
Last I heard he just ran a few routes in practice without doing much else. Anyone know if he will be ready to go and if not is either N. Burleson or Rod Smith a good start along side Chad Johnson this week?

I think you'd do well with either Smith or Burleson.  I like them in that order.  Williams is going to go from what I've heard, but nothing is sure until Saturday, when the last injury reports come out.

Smith is going against an avg CIN secondary, while Williams is going against a very underrated secondary that leads the league in TO differential.  They must be doing something right vs. WRs to have a +11, IMHO.   Smith is hurt; however, by the resurgence of the Denver running game.

Burleson should do very well vs. TEN.  He'll get almost exclusively man coverage this week.  He's a good route runner that is finally learning to get open, though he still struggles there from time to time.   With Moss out, there's a bit of uncertainty around what the Viking offense is going to do.   I don't forsee another 5 TDs from CPepp.  More like 2 or 3.  Will Burleson get one?  Maybe, but there's Kelly Campbell, MRob, Moe & Mewelde + Wiggins.   A ton of weapons there.

I think I'd go with Smith.

Good Luck!
