Title: Faulk, Coles and Stallworth for Portis and Driver?
Post by lumber2121 on Oct 22nd, 2004, 11:05am
If I offered M. Faulk, D. Stallworth and L. Coles for C. Portis and D. Driver would that be a fair trade?

Portis has a bye week this week, Driver has a bye week 9, Faulk and Stallworth are week 8 and Coles is weak 7. In light of these bye weeks, would it be better to make the offer after week 8?

The guy I would make the trade with will have both of his starting receivers on a bye during week 9.

Is this a fair deal?

I like this trade for you.  I think you'd probably have a better chance of the trade being accepted this week instead of next week.  I don't know if he'd want to trade for Faulk and Stallworth, knowing that they'd be riding the bench as soon as he got them.  If you do it now, maybe he isn't aware that they'll be off the same week.

Philly

If I did this trade this week, I would have to start Chester Taylor against Buffalo this week.  Also, I would have to start Burleson (@ Indy) or Givens (@St. Louis) in week 9.  Is this still a good call?  Do you think the other owner will think it is a fair offer?

One more thing.  Would I be too greedy if I asked for Mason?  My thought is yes.

It is usually good to start out greedy. I also see it as a good trade for you. Is it fair? That depends on the other owner, but his job is to make his own team better. Because we are dealing in probabilities and conjectures, the only way to see if one is right and the other wrong is hindsight.

I would really be surprised if he took this trade, but the only way to know is to try.

Actually, that is not too far off-base.  However, ain't no way any sane person is givin' you Mason too.  That might be insulting and blow the deal for you.  You could, however, probably get away with starting off with Mason in lieu of Driver.  That probably wouldn't fly, but it wouldn't be insulting.  It would be worth a shot.  If it doesn't pan, you fall back to Driver and the deal you originally laid out.
