Title: Dump Delhomme? Post by lumber2121 on Oct 28th, 2004, 10:28am Should I dump Delhomme? Plummer is my starter (week 10 bye) and Rattay, Palmer, McCown, Collins, Griese, Fiedler and Volek are some of the free agent QBs. My sense is to wait until after week 10 to dump Delhomme. I would probably pick up Chatman or another defense if I drop Delhomme. |

Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by kec6906 on Oct 28th, 2004, 12:00pm why wait? dump him now. he stinks & Carolina stinks this year. i also had Delhomme & Plummer in one of my leagues and i dropped Delhomme about 3 weeks ago. Plummer has been doing very nicely for me. i am in the same boat though looking for a bye week cover and prob have about the same choices as you do. Collins & Fiedler (both suck anyway) are on byes week 10 so they wont help you anyway. McNair might be back by wk 10 so Volek would be out. i would prob go: 1} McCown (at home & should have Fitz & Boldin to throw to against the fraud NYG) 2} Rattay (at home vs CAR - he's been hitting Lloyd every week now) 3,4}Palmer (at WASH) or Griese (at ATL), both looking better but have tough matchups on the road. if Chad Johnson keeps getting the ball like last wk, i might bump Palmer up to #2 choice if not #1) but with those choices you prob could wait till wk 10 if u need something else now. i dont think any of them are going anywhere. they will only be good for that 1 week anyway so hopefully they can get 200 yds and at least 1 td. just my opinion. good luck. Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by Philly on Oct 28th, 2004, 2:56pm Yes, dump Delhomme. The Panthers have no offense. Their RB is Brad Hoover. Their best WR is a rookie (Keary Colbert). Moose has done nothing. Steve Smith was just put on IR, so he's not coming back. They don't have a TE. I'd actually consider adding Rattay. He's throwing the ball a ton. Brandon Lloyd and Eric Johnson have been really good lately. The defense sucks, so the Niners will be playing from behind a lot. |

Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by lumber2121 on Oct 28th, 2004, 3:49pm Everything seems to make sense so far. However, am I better off with Rattay or Delhomme starting in week 10? The two teams are playing each other. Is Rattay better against the Panthers than Delhomme agains the 49ers? The Panthers defense is showing some signs that they may turn things around. I obviously have to also think about a good year long backup, in case Plummer is injured at some point. Rattay has more fantasy points than Delhomme, despite playing two fewer games than Delhomme. My thought is to dump Delhomme in favor of Rattay. What are your thoughts? |

Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by Callie on Oct 28th, 2004, 9:39pm As you know, Rattay plays CAR in Week 10. If you're only looking at Week 10, here is what I think. So far the Panthers have not looked great in the pass rush and the secondary. Then again, the 9ers secondary has not been much to write home about either. There are weeks to go, but so far we have seen that the 9ers throw their butts off in the second half when they're behind. They also have a lot of targets. If their D stays the way it is (especially banged up), Rattay may have to pump it out even by Week 10. He can. At this point in time, I would pick Rattay over Delhomme for Week 10. |

Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by bgsgfan on Oct 28th, 2004, 11:16pm I'll jump on the bandwagon here. Rattay has done too much this season to be sitting on the waiver. Grab him and dump Delhomme - both for week 10 and the season. |

Title: Re: Dump Delhomme? Post by lumber2121 on Oct 29th, 2004, 7:30am I just noticed that Rattay is questionable for Sunday with a forearm injury. It is apparently less severe than the forearm injury that kept him out of action earlier in the year. Erickson and Rattay both say that he will play this weekend. With the injury in the picture, should I still pick up Rattay? My sense is yes. He has a lot more upside than Delhomme and the injury does not sound too bad. |
