Title: C. Taylor or B. Hoover?
Post by lumber2121 on Oct 29th, 2004, 9:59am
I currently have Taylor slotted to start while Faulk is on his bye week.  Hoover is a free agent.  Would I be better off playing Hoover than Taylor?

Regardless of who I play this week.  I will probably drop them and pick up Chatman.  I have a feeling that Tomlinson may not improve and may even get worse.  The Chargers may have to sit him at some point.  If they do, Chatman will have a lot of value.

Does anyone know how long Davis is expected to be out?

I'd go with Chester Taylor. He has the talent and opportunity to post big numbers. The Eagles did not look particularly strong vs the run last week. Of course, the effect of Ogden's injury is not to be taken lightly, but in comparing Taylor to Hoover you have 2 distinctly different sets of abilities. Hoover is a guy who will be hard pressed to gain more than 100 combined yards. The upside for Taylor makes him the choice here.

i'm a big eagles fan but i'd have to say Chester Taylor over Hoover this week.

Eagles D is really good but over the years and more importantly last week, their run D has been good enough to win but bad enough for opposing RB's to score some decent points (ranked 16th).  although, the only way i think Bal scores this week is defensively or FG's.  Eagles dont have to worry about Boller & the passing game so they can prob key in on Taylor and also blitz all day.

Hoover plays for Carolina, they stink and they are playing at a pissed off Seattle team that needs a win and is 8th ranked in rushing D, nuff said.

i dont know, did i actually make a definite choice?  do u have any other options?  sorry if i confused you more.

Based really on matchup alone, I'd have to go with the crowd here.  Taylor/Hoover, Ravens/Panthers, six of one, half a dozen of the other.  So, you have to look externally, i.e. at their respective matchups.  Taylor's is better this week.

Regarding scooping up Chatman, after this week, it may be worth dropping Taylor for him as Jamal will be back.  But, Hoover, as I pointed out on Chumpzilla's "Hoover" thread, could be an investment worth not cashing in yet.

taylor! philly run D has been butter! he will have a decent game and if the defense can keep the game close then he could have a really good day....i would play taylor.

Philly run D has really sucked.  But with that being said, there is no reason the Eagles will not stack 8 guys in the box.  Boller is no threat.

So I would start Hoover.

I'm going against the grain on this one.  Id start Hoover.  Baltimore has zero offense and Jim Johnson will work on making the necessary adjustments.  Trotter had his first start of the season for the birds and will only get better.  But most importantly, expect Philly to jump on top quickly in this one.  If they get a big lead you will see the running game for Baltimore evaporate.

No way!  Ogden is OUT.

You have to play Hoover.
