Title: trade advice Post by kec6906 on Oct 30th, 2004, 4:11pm my team, 3 division 12 team redraft. i am 4-2-1. QB: Harrington, Testaverde [start 1] RB: C Mart & Jordan, D Davis & Wells, C Taylor, Morris, Wheatley [start 2] WR/TE: Holt, R Moss, Lelie, Gonzalez [start 3] K: Wilkins, Brown [start 1] IND DEF: Brady Smith DEF: BAL, BUF [start 1] scoring ALL longer td = bigger pts, RB/WR 25 yds = 1 pt, QB 50 yds = 1 pt, plus DEF pts for sacks, ints, fr, shutouts. as u can see long TDs are the main pts here. do you think i can make it the rest of the season with the QB's i have? only QB's on WW Warner, Collins, Feidler, Delhomme so no help there (although Warner has played half decent) i can try and trade for Carr or Hasselback but... the guy w/ Hasselback wants (Holt & Wheatly or Morris) or (Lelie & Davis). the guy w/ Carr might take Lelie & Wheatley or Morris. there are no WR/TE's left on WW worth anything (maybe Kennison, Ced Wilson, Witten) so i would have to rely on the 3 i have to get me thru the season if i do either trade. but if i trade Lelie all my other byes would be over, so i would just have to worry about injury. are Carr/Hasselback that much better than what i have? will Holt play like he should the rest of season or should i try and trade Holt for a top tier RB? which RB would be worth it for the rest of the season? i might have a shot at Portis, F Taylor, Brown, Lewis. should i even bother trying to trade? sorry this is so long but alot of trades going on in league and not sure if i should stay put or try and upgrade - if i can. what do you think???? thanks. Title: Re: trade advice Post by junkyardjake on Oct 30th, 2004, 4:48pm First of all, definitely pick up Witten if you decide to drop Chester Taylor (there's little reason to hold him after this week with Jamal Lewis back). As far as your QB's, Harrington and Hasselbeck are both adequate, and have been performing almost identically. There really is little reason to make the trades you described: Quote:
David Carr is a slight upgrade over Harrington, but really not that much, if you can pick up Witten and package him in a trade with Wheatley(or Morris), maybe throw in Testaverde, that makes sense. I would probably try to hold onto Ashley Lelie at least until you see that Randy Moss does not have any lingering effects from his hamstring injury. In any event, Lelie is certainly becoming more dependable and should continue to improve in the second half of the season. Quote:
Your RB's are fairly strong, but if you can get someone like Jamal Lewis for him, you probably should do it. What complicates your situation is that you evidently need to start 3 WR/TE's, and without Holt you appear kind of thin at those positions. Overall though, you have a solid team that could easily win it all if Holt and Moss stay healthy and Holt starts producing like he should. Your QB's are fine, you have the backups for your main RB's, your receivers are terrific (at least on paper), plus you have the best defense. I don't think you should feel really compelled to trade, unless it involves Testeverde, Witten (if you pick him up), Wheatley and/or Morris. |

Title: Re: trade advice Post by bgsgfan on Oct 31st, 2004, 12:54am I really think you should stay put for now. Testaverde will put up decent numbers as long as he remains the starting QB, and Harrington will be OK as long as Williams is healthy. The guy with Hasselbeck wants too much - my money is on Holt to return to form. David Carr does not present much improvement over what you have. If Sammie Morris has a good-great week in the next two weeks his value could skyrocket and at that point you should look to capitalize. I'd also hold Taylor one week after Jamal Lewis returns. The chances of injury are slightly higher with him just coming back. I agree that your team looks like it should be contending for the championship - good job and good luck! |
