Title: Opinions on Trades Post by lumber2121 on Nov 11th, 2004, 9:10am Here are two trades. Please let me know what you think of them. Trade 1 I give up: David Givens Get: Willis McGahee Trade 2: I give up: David Givens and Thomas Jones Get: Ahman Green Are these reasonable offers? I like both of them. What are your thoughts? |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by StegRock on Nov 11th, 2004, 11:12am Both of those deals are whip cream! Trade #1 is an absolute steal! As for acquiring McGahee versus acquiring Green, if this is a keeper league (I am guessing it is as you have Ricky Williams on your roster), I would lean toward McGahee, and the deeper the keeper league, the more I would lean this way; otherwise, I would go with Green. As for sweeteners, I would sweeten with Ricky Williams and Marcus Robinson (if possible) or, again, assuming this is a keeper league, Rod Smith. But, if you throw Smith into the deal, you may need some sweetener back. Good luck! [smiley=shammy.gif] |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by lumber2121 on Nov 11th, 2004, 11:44am Steg Rock Thanks for the feedback. The roster listed is the other guy's roster. Mine is at the bottom of my post. Here is a clearer version: ______________________________________ Trade 1 I receive: McGahee I give up: Givens My Roster Plummer, Jake QB DEN Faulk, Marshall RB STL Wheatley, Tyrone RB OAK Coles, Laveranues WR WAS Johnson, Chad WR CIN Gates, Antonio TE SD Wilkins, Jeff K STL Bills, DST DST BUF Rattay, Tim QB SF Jackson, Steven RB STL Jones, Thomas RB CHI Burleson, Nate WR MIN Givens, David WR NE Stallworth, Donte' WR NO Team 1 Roster Manning, Peyton QB IND Johnson, Rudi RB CIN McGahee, Willis RB BUF McCardell, Keenan WR SD Smith, Rod WR DEN Graham, Daniel TE NE Graham, Shayne K CIN Cardinals, DST DST ARI Brees, Drew QB SD Brown, Chris RB TEN Pittman, Michael RB TB Williams, Ricky RB MIA Clayton, Michael WR TB Robinson, Marcus WR MIN __________________________________ Trade 2 I receive: Green I give up: Givens and T. Jones Team 2 Roster Bledsoe, Drew QB BUF Barber, Tiki RB NYG Faulk, Kevin RB NE Holt, Torry WR STL Moulds, Eric WR BUF Campbell, Mark TE BUF Vinatieri, Adam K NE Buccaneers, DST DST TB Favre, Brett QB GB Green, Ahman RB GB Pinkston, Todd WR PHI Swinton, Reggie WR DET Crumpler, Alge TE ATL Broncos, DST DST DEN Do you think that Givens and Jones are enough to make a legitimate bid for Green? What should I throw in to the McGahee deal if it needs to be sweetened? (I assume that it will need some sweetening.) |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by s_laflesh on Nov 11th, 2004, 2:46pm As for the 1st trade, I personally think that McGahee for Givens is not that fair. As for what you could add to sweeten it, how about a player like Burlson or Stallworth? Other then that, I dont see much else to swing there without bringing the trade too much the other direction. As for the second trade, I dont see why he would take this trade either. I know that Givens has been hot for a few weeks, but Branch should be back any time. Jones is also nursing and battling injuries. A_Train has been running very well for Chicago also. I think for this one, you're going to have to offer the other owner more talent. Im not sure, how good players you'd be willing to give up though. Sorry for the mindless ramble and I hope this helps [smiley=wave.gif] |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by captainpurple on Nov 12th, 2004, 10:41am You're in a tough spot here. Trade 1 is completely inequitable as you've listed it. He looks to be desperate for WR help, and Givens is hot, so he might pull the trigger here. You don't really have anything to sweeten the pot with though. Gates is too much sugar, but no one else would be enough IMO. Burleson is at the top of his trade value, but with Robinson already on that roster, not sure he'll bite. HERE'S A THOUGHT: See if he likes Burleson more than Robinson and offer Givens + Burleson for MacG & MRob. IMVO (in my Viking opinion), Robinson is the more polished player who will benefit more when Moss returns, so it's a win/win for you. Trade 2.....WHAT!? ?.?.? Why would he ever do this? GB is averaging 35+ pts/gm the last 3 weeks. Their O is on fire, no way is Green tradeable for Givens & Jones. In fact, I see no scenario in which you could make a viable trade offer for him. If you want to insult him, or if you think he's a drooling idiot who might accept a homer trade, try that route; otherwise, save the effort. Good Luck! |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by lumber2121 on Nov 12th, 2004, 10:49am Capt. Purple I did not think that the second would be very likely. I agree that Green in much better than Jones. The reason that I asked for advice is that I do not know how valuable others perceive Givens to be. I do not like the Patriots, so I have a tendancy to under value Givens. Apparently, I was not under valuing him that much. Thanks for the input. This is why it is good to throw around opinions in this forum. I may throw out an offer of Burleson, Givens and Jones for Green. We shall see. |

Title: Re: Opinions on Trades Post by captainpurple on Nov 12th, 2004, 10:54am you're right, you never know the value someone else might put on Givens. I tend to think he's overvalued at this point too. With Branch returning soon, Brown already back, Bethel Johnson stealing last weeks TD & Graham always in the waiting, he's done very well to post 3 100+ games. I don't see the streak continuing, so I'd do as you are...trade him. I still doubt the guy bites, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try. |
