News:  Battle of the D's

Fantasy Football Slant:
RB Clinton Portis should be started as a matter of fact, but he shouldn't be considered a #1 this week, probably a high #2 at best.  With the way WR Santana Moss has been playing, he should be started.  He's been on a hot streak as of late and should be considered a high #2.  QB Mark Brunell should not be played, but if you have to, look at him as a #3.  Washington's defense and special teams should be a solid play again this week.  IDP's to consider starting are:  FS Shawn Taylor, who is a week-in-week-out must-start, CB Carlos Rogers, LB's Marcus Washinington and Warrick Holdman.  As Denver's offense relies heavily on the run, the two aforementioned linebackers are bound to have a good game.  Rogers, coming off his first NFL start, is covering the very underachieving Ashley Lelie, which could lead to big fantasy points.

News:  Grudge Match

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Redskins have a grudge match this week with their arch enemies the Dallas Cowboys.  Clinton Portis will be a big factor in this game and should end up with at least 125 yards and 1 TD.  The Redskin Defense looks like a great play this week.  I would keep a eye on David Patten this week.  David is primed for a good game and i think he breaks 100 recieving yards this monday night.  In IDP leagues i would consider playing Shawn Springs this week along with Marcus Washington and Sean Taylor, They all should put up some great numbers this week.

News:  Season Opener Success

Fantasy Football Slant:
This Week the Redskins face the Bears.  I expect big things from Clinton Portis this week and this year.  I think Clinton will rack up at least 100 yards and 1 TD this weekend.  I would also keep a eye on santana moss this week considering that is also the kick returner he could put up some big fantasy points this week.  Also the Redskins Defense is a great play this week against a rookie quaterback and offense that hasnt had time to gel not to mention that greg williams is still in control of the defense.  Another thing to keep in mind is that the Redskins have won their last 3 season openers.

News:  Redskins Player Rankings...

Fantasy Football Slant:
This analysis is based on your average 10- to 12-team league and standard scoring, with touchdowns and yardage being evenly weighted.  The "Projected Fantasy Role" is where you should plan on lining that player up on your fantasy team from week to week.

QB
Patrick
Ramsey
High #2Has control of his destiny and Gibbs has had 1 year to re-adapt to the new NFL.
QB
Mark
Brunell
Low #3After an uncharacteristically terrible campaign last season, he's had a great preseason.  If Ramsey faulters or gets injured, don't be surprised if Brunell looks more like his old solidly-performing self in '05.
QB
Jason
Campbell
#4Who knows?  But, he surely has promise and is in a situation where he could get a shot.
RB
Clinton
Portis
High #1Running game for set up for his style this year.
RB
Ladell
Betts
High #3Portis always misses a few games and Betts has come up big in Gibbs offense.
WR
Santana
Moss
Low #2I would maybe bump him up if your league counts return yards.  Otherwise,...
WR
David
Patten
Low #2Solid situational WR.  He's hard to predict, though.
WR
Jacob
Taylor
Low #3He will break out, just not this year, but he'll have some good games.
TE
Chris
Cooley
Low #1At the end of last season he started to break out.  This will be his year.
PK
John
Hall
Low #2Really depends on the team.  He's got leg.
D/ST
----------Low #1After last year it's hard not to regard them this highly.  Greg Williams will lead them to another great year.

News:  Draft Results

Fantasy Football Slant:
Redskin fans beware...what a off season the Redskins have had so far.   They traded coles for moss, drafted Jason Campbell, Skipped Mike Williams (why Gibbs?) and then didn't feel needs throughout the draft.  I believe Ramsey will remain the starter for this season at least.  I would like to see how Carlos Rogers fills in Fred Smoot's spot.  The Redskins have a lot of holes and I honestly don't think they got any better even though they made a lot of moves.  Also Gibbs is refusing to release Rod Gardner...so he may be the big receiver they needed for this year along with David Patten and Santana Moss.  Overall I see a minimal change in record but it all depends on Ramsey. I really think Ramsey's potential is incredible and I expect great things, Watch out for the Redskins in 2006.

News:  Dreams are made or broken.

Fantasy Football Slant:
Wow what a week...Clinton is on IR jus when a horrible run defense comes into town.  But don't expect Gibbs to throw all day! Ladell Betts has been used and will be the back of the week not to mention the sleeper of the week.  If you need a RB this week and are desperate for some options, I would play Ladell Betts this week.  I believe he is the sleeper of the week.  Redskins can eliminate the Vikings from the playoffs and will be motivated to do so.  I would also play Chris Cooley and Laveranues Coles this week also.  Good IDP plays will be The secondary of the Redskins, such as Sean Taylor, Ryan Clark, Shawn Springs, and Fred Smoot if he plays.  Keep a close eye on Smoot's progress this week to see if he will play

News:  Sweet Revenge

Fantasy Football Slant:
Grudge match and payback...with a new and improved quarterback the Redskins offense should click. Mark Brunell put up nice numbers against the cowboys last time they met and the Redskins will do even better with Ramsey at the helm.  Ramsey will have a good day throwing for about 250 yards and at least two Tds.  Clinton Portis should put up at least 100 yards and a score.  This is a rivalry game and the Redskins have been on the short end too long, so expect the Redskins to come out on fire.  I would consider playing Coles and Cooley this week hence they are Ramsey's favorite targets.  The defense should be a solid play.  For you IDPers I would consider starting the Lbs, Pierce, Arrington, and Washington this week along with Fred Smoot and Ryan Clark.  Merry Christmas to all and good luck in the playoffs!

News:  Fantasy Stars a Shining

Fantasy Football Slant:
Smell that?  Running backs are in bloom this time of year.  Clinton Portis is a must start against a horrid San Francisco defense.  Clinton should get 125 yards and 2 Tds in this weeks match-up.  Another great start this week is Coles who will get a lot of looks again and seems to be coming to form.  On the defensive side of the ball I would start the Secondary and Linebackers such as Antonio Pierce and Fred Smoot.  Antonio should post solid numbers as well as the secondary this week.  Keep tabs on Shawn Springs health because he suffered a concussion last week.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  18:28 Fri Dec 10 2004

News:  Memories please leave them behind

Fantasy Football Slant:
Now after Clinton put on a show last week, Gibbs pat him on his back and said keep it up.  Clinton should be able to now that Gibbs is using more three and four wide receiver sets.  Now if Ramsey can show he can hurt him with his arm, which I think he will.  Clinton should have another great week notching about 100 yards and a Touchdown.  Not to mention Philadelphia's run defense is not good at all.  I would stay away from all Redskin receivers except for Coles this week.  The others jus are not targeted enough to get consideration.  In addition, a few IDP players that you should consider are Fred Smoot and the secondary.

News:  One Man Show

Fantasy Football Slant:
It is now week 13 and you need someone to help you make the playoffs.  If so, you want to avoid this game.  I hate to say this but this is anything but a fantasy dream.  Clinton Portis could run all over the Giants if he gets the opportunity.  Last week Portis had six carries and Ladell Betts took the load.  Trend? I sure do not hope so, after all they did give up Champ Bailey.  I think Portis will show up finally.  Clinton Portis should have a chance to put up a solid week because I think the Redskins can stay close to the giants throughout the game.  I would not play any redskin receivers this week.  The Redskin defense will be a nice play this week as they face Eli Manning and his unreliable receivers, which should keep yards down.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  11:26 on Tue Nov 23 2004

News:  The Shining Ones

Fantasy Football Slant:
With another offensive lineman injured the running will only get tougher for Clinton Portis.  This week the Redskins face the mighty Steelers with what seems to be an impenetrable defense.  Not many good starts for the Redskins offensively but there is a light, that light is the Redskin's receivers.  Falling behind early Laveranues Coles and Rod Gardner should get many looks and have decent games.  Clinton Portis is a must play every week because of his explosive running.  Keep an eye on Darnerien Mccants, last season he was a favorite target of Ramsey in the red zone.
