Title: NEED SOME PROFESSIONAL FANTASY GURU HELP
Post by GURUMAN on Dec 10th, 2004, 10:46pm
I have:

Tiki Barber at Baltimore
Thomas Jones at Jacksonville
Reuben Droughns at Miami

I would like to go and pick up Arlen Harris cause he plays at Carolina and the guy started in 2 games last year and got 268 yards and got 4 touchdowns. SHould I start Droughns and plug in Harris or play Jones or Barber as a 2nd back. ALSO if I pick up Harris I will end up dropping Porter. But I am solid with Derrick Mason, Randy Moss, & Javon Walker

Do you start 2 RB and 2 WR?

2 Rb and 3 WR's

First, I'd start Porter over Moss. I don't think Randy is all that healthy and the Vikes are not throwing at him.

Secondly, I would start Rueben for sure, and Barber would be my second choice, then TJ.

Obviously you start Droughns.  He's at home, and Miami is injuries maximus, without Zack Thomas, and Bell is not a serious issue.  Reuben will be the horse (Oops!  Donkey!) who gets the rock most of the time.  The Broncs will not have to go to the pass to keep up.

Tiki is playing the RAVENS.  I would not start him.  He'll be keyed by everyone.

Jones is not a great start, but at least he has a chance to survive and give you at least something.  Harris is facing a CAR D that hasn't looked great, but they're healthier now.

As for Porter, with Curry out for the season, he may get some love for ya.  The ATL secondary can be had by big receivers, CBs Webster  and Hall have not been big threats, and the Raiders will have to go with the pass.  Believe it or not, I would definitely play Porter this week.  They have to keep up and go with the pass.

Walker is at home against not-so-stellar corners.  Play him, whichever corner he gets.

I would also start Mason.  Good game for the Titan WRs.  The Chiefs allowed 8 passing TDs during the last month and at least 260 yards passing.

As for Moss, Wiggins and Robinson are there, Moss is still not 100% and has Trufant at corner, and the Vikings may go to the run this week.  I would sit Moss if possible.

I would play Droughns, Jones (or Harris if you have a gut feeling), Porter, Mason, and of course Walker.

Well this is the deal if I go and pickup Arlen Harris then I have to drop Porter. Is it worth dropping Jerry Porter to get arlen since Thomas Jones and Tiki dont have good matchups?

I'm guessing you are in play offs, so you have to look at the rest of the way.  Unless a bad decision here takes you out of the play offs.

Harris is only good the rest of the way if Faulk and Jackson stay out.  Porter is only good if he has good match-ups.

Porter has TEN, KC and JAX left.  Depending on which weeks your play offs fall on, TEN and KC should not be all that bad.

Faulk and Jackson could go RBBC the rest of the way.  Harris could also be in there.

Wow, friend, your options are lousy.  I wouldn't do the Harris thing unless it is ABSOLUTELY clear Jackson and Faulk are DEFINITELY OUT.  Otherwise, which I think will be the case, I'd just go with Tiki and hope for the best.  He is very versatile.  He may not rush for all too much, but Eli is going to have to be dumping the ball off against Baltimore; he ain't gonna get much done downfield.  He'll be dumping a lot of short passes into Tiki's hands.  Tiki's had a great season.  He's the best of three/four rather ugly options.  Good luck, friend!
