Title: WDIS:RB? Post by DUKE0313 on Dec 16th, 2004, 9:21pm In a bit of a quandary...standard scoring for yds, TD's, etc. I'll be starting Portis at SF, but who else should I start? Julius Jones at Philly Deuce McAllister at TB or Reuben Droughns(neck) at KC Would appreciate any suggestions and/or "words of wisdom." Thanks, DUKE |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by Chumpzilla on Dec 16th, 2004, 9:53pm Personally, I would go with Jones and McAllister. Jones has been consistent and Philly can be run on at times (with the exeption of Portis ;D ). I also think McAllister will enjoy a big day vs. The Tampa Bay defense. |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by Philly on Dec 17th, 2004, 8:51am Portis is your best option here, bar none. For your #2, go with McAllister. Don't be intimidated by the TB defense or Deuce's inconsistency. He generally plays well against TB. He ran for 100+ yards against them in week 5 this season. He doesn't find the endzone often (once in 5 starts) but he has averaged 108 total yards a game against TB in his career. |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by geojon on Dec 17th, 2004, 9:49am Have Portis and JJones, too(plus Edge and DDavis) While I'm a Philly fan, I think JJones is going to have a party on Sunday. Hollis Thomas, run-stuffer supreme, is out for three to six weeks and the Eags do have a time stopping the run anyway. Think/hope it's a high-scoring game(I have McNabb, too). More problematic is the Portis v. McAllister pick. Match-up favors Portis but consistency factor favors McAllister. I have the same problem with Edge and Portis. Edge is at home v. Baltimore. Manning will be going for the record against a playoff hungry defense. Upshot: 1. JJones 2. DMcAllister geo |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by lumber2121 on Dec 17th, 2004, 1:28pm The only easy call is to not start Droughns. All of the anti-Philly run defense I have read in various threads on this site is making me think that J. Jones is the right pick. The loss of Hollis Thomas makes this seem a better call. I would go with McAllister, instead of Portis. I am strongly anti-Portis right now. Usually, when I feel this strongly about something I am very wrong. So, maybe Portis is a good call. :-/ 1) Jones 2a) McCallister 2b) Portis |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by Callie on Dec 17th, 2004, 2:45pm 1. Portis. 9ers have allowed 18 rushing TDs, and they can't stop anyone. 2. Droughns. If his neck is OK. KC is doing lousy against the run, and Bell is hurt. 3. McAllister. Even if they go to the passing game, McAllister gets touches. It's the rest of the team.... 4. J. Jones. Eagles may have D line injuries, but Dallas is playing the Eagles in possibly very nasty weather. |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by junkyardjake on Dec 17th, 2004, 6:57pm I like Callie's suggestion, Portis and Droughns. As far as Droughns neck injury, he has been practicing this week, so it shouldn't be an issue. |

Title: Re: WDIS:RB? Post by Callie on Dec 17th, 2004, 7:02pm As a PS, I just read a bit ago that Bell hasn't been ruled out but will not start. Personally, I think it's just Shanney-speak, and after Droughns got back in last week he didn't keep dropping the ball. Bell is now considered a gametime decision. Go with your gut between Droughns and McAllister, but I'd still start Droughns if it were my team. |
