Title: Team Defense - which one?
Post by Philly on Dec 22nd, 2004, 9:58am
Here's my league scoring...

FR/INT/Safety: 2
Def/ST TD: 6
Sack: 1
Points Against: Start at 15, lose 5 for every 10 PA

I currently have the Bears (@ DET) and the Panthers (@ TB) on my roster.  The following teams are available via waivers and have some appeal:  Falcons (@ NO), Bengals (v. NYG), Jaguars (v. HOU), Cardinals (@SEA).

Any thoughts on which one might be the best choice?  I'm leaning towards the Jags or the Bengals (I think the Giants offensive explosion last week was an aberration).

Hey Philly, talk about a crapshoot, I might be inclined to stick with the Panthers, although maybe the Jaguars are a close second.

I see your logic with the Jaguars who are playing at home against Houston, that actually might work out better in terms of points allowed, but Carr isn't getting pressured as much as last year, and the Jaguars don't really get after the QB anyway.

The Panthers lead the league in interceptions, and should give the Bucs a tough time, but it is in Tampa, so that creates a little bit of a different situation.

Hope you pick the right one, maybe someone else has a better insight, it's a tough choice.

I actually like the Bears at Detroit.  That wasn't really Detroit last week against a porous Minnesota defense.  I think that will be a tight game and the Bears, even if they give up some points (I wouldn't expect them to give up much more than 21, though), they'll be "busy" statistically.  I like Jacksonville second probably for the same reason you do.  Carolina would be my third choice for the reasons JYJ states.  Griese is vulnerable to throwing picks as we all know.  It's close, but I would go with the Bears of the three.  Off hand, the Dolphins wouldn't happen to be available, would they?  I think they are in for a great game against Cleveland after their Monday night win over the Patriots.  ...  In any case, good luck!

i like the bears at detroit since kevin jones may be the only thing functioning on offense in that game but as my first pick im itchy to say arizona....seattle is edgy and arizona is playing for something big....it is jus a hunch but i would play the bears as a safe bet....

With Urlacher out for the season and seeing the before/after affect on the Bears with/without him, I'd take the Jags easily.

They gave Pittsburgh fits on their home turf and I don't see how -- with a playoff berth on the line, no less -- they'll allow the Texans much of anything.

Jax is the pick.

My first choice would be the Bears. With or without Urlacher I like their match-up vs. Detroit.  My very close second choice is the Bengals.  I like their match-up vs. the Giants and I too thinks last week as the "exception" for the Gianst offense.   [smiley=twocents.gif]
