Title: Keeper Draft choices? Post by kec6906 on Jan 11th, 2005, 10:15am i am in a 12 team keeper league (this was my first year) and didn't make the playoffs. i dont have many options but would still like some advice. each team gets to keep 2 players, any position. i have 2 picks in the first round and 2 picks in the 4th round next year but none in the 2nd or 3rd rounds (because of a trade). these are my only viable options: RB - Corey Dillon (NE) WR - Chad Johnson (CIN) WR - Roy Williams (DET) WR - Lee Evans (BUF) they are in the order which i think i would keep them. what do you think??? thanks KC. If these are your options......you are keeping them in exactly the right order. However, I have a hard time believing the rest of your team sucks so bad that these are your 4 best players. I too would like to see the rest of your team. |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by Callie on Jan 11th, 2005, 7:24pm And what is your scoring system? How many yds per point? Points per reception? How many of each do you start? Sounds like Corey is above Chad, unless your league favors the above for WRs. Good WRs used to show up alot more often than good RBs (during the season), but this season was not like that. On the other hand, RBs got injured. What are your current needs? |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by kec6906 on Jan 12th, 2005, 4:33am yes, the rest of my team sucks that bad - i dont know how we made it to 5-8. QB - Harrington, Carr RB - Dillon, Barlow, Bennett, Zereoue WR - C Johnson, R Williams, Lee Evans, Stokely, Andre Davis TE - Wiggins, LJ Smith K - Vandy, Carney DEF - NE, TB Head Coach - Mike Martz, Jack Del Rio SCORING Pass TD = 4 pts (40 + yds = 2 pt bonus), 2 pt conv = 2 pts, int = -1, 25 yds = 1 pt Rush/rec TD = 6 pts (40 + yds = 2 pt bonus), 2 pt conv = 2 pts, fum = -1, 10 rec/rush yds = 1 pt FG 0-39 yds = 3 pts, FG 40-49 yds = 4 pts, FG 50+ yds = 5 pts FG missed 0-39 = -3 pts, FG missed 40-49 = -2 pts, FG missed 50+ = -1 pt PAT = 1 pt, PAT missed = -1 pt defense int, blocked kick (any), fum rec, safety = 2 pts each, TD = 6 pts, sack = 1 pt 0 pts allowed = 10 pts, 1-6 PA= 7 pts, 7-13 PA = 4 pts, 14-17 PA = 1 pt, 18-21 PA = 0, 22-27 PA = -1, 28-34 PA = -4, 35-45 PA = -7, 46+ PA = -10 Head Coach 25+ pt Win Margin = 10 pts, 20-24 WM = 8, 15-19 WM = 6, 10-14 WM = 4, 5-9 WM = 2, 1-4 WM = 1 pt 1-4 pt Loss Margin = -1 pt, 5-9 LM = -2, 10-14 LM = -4, 15-19 LM = -6, 20-24 LM = -8, 25+ LM = -10 there it is - the rest of the team and the scoring. by the way, i think the league voted to add 1 RB/WR position and take out the Head Coach. this season it was QB, 4 spots RB/WR, TE, K, DEF, HC. next season its QB, 5 spots RB/WR, TE, K, DEF - no HC. thanks again. Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by Callie on Jan 12th, 2005, 5:35pm Does that mean that you choose how many WR/RB spots are WR and how many are RB? Or do you do something like 3 WRs and 2 RBs? If you can choose to use more WRs, you may have a nice set of options here. In your scoring system, your WR situation is great for a keeper league! Chad has C. Palmer ready to step up, R. Williams should be great if he stays healthy, and Evans is just waiting for his stud days! |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by kec6906 on Jan 12th, 2005, 7:24pm yes, you can pick a WR or RB to fill those 5 spots. and i agree about the receivers but i can only keep 2. Dillon had a very nice year for NE and i dont see that being any different next year. Johnson would have to be above Williams. i'll prob stay with those 2 guys and hope that i can get 2 more above average players with my 2 first round picks. so with those 4 players i should have a half decent team to build around. |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by Callie on Jan 12th, 2005, 7:29pm RBs usually show up quicker than WRs. I would not lose your top WRs if it were my league. Another thing to consider is who the other guys will probably protect and who will be put back out there to grab. Also, Dillon could have a great year, or he could sit out half of the games with injuries. No spring chicken! My experience is that my great RBs are usually my greatest liabilities for time lost. |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by StegRock on Jan 13th, 2005, 1:08pm I agree with your order up until Williams. I might keep Evans over him, believe it or not. Rogers comes back next year, potentially eats into some of Williams's balls (he, he, he). ;) Whereas, Evans has already shown himself to be as, actually more, productive than Moulds and Buffalo's offense wasn't even really that great this year. Also, Williams was very inconsistent this year. Evans, I felt, was actually more consistent... as far as rookies go. |

Title: Re: Keeper Draft choices? Post by lumber2121 on Jan 21st, 2005, 11:33am I agree with StegRock about Evans. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a Bills fan. While my opinion my be biased, Evans looked stronger and stronger with each game played. He is not just a deep threat. Evans has good hands and seems to have a knack for getting open. The Bills coaches are extremely high on Evans, because of his work ethic and on-field performance. Also, StegRock's point that Rogers will be back next year is a vaild point. |
