Title: Bengals Offseason Report
Post by StegRock on Feb 15th, 2005, 11:03pm
Rudi gets the tag...  Here's all the lowdown brought to you by way of "the Gridiron Newsstand" and "The REAL Feed":

Is there any chance this guy holds out?

News from Bengals.com...

Attention IDPers... looks like Odell Thurman will be the starting MLB and David Pollack will be the starting LOLB.

Also, in the article Chad Johnson talks about some statements his agent, the erstwhile Drew Rosenhaus, made about Chad being sorely underpaid.  I love the fact that Chad says that Drew doesn't make any decisions for Chad and that he is an employee of Chad's.  Regardless of what you think about Chad and his showboating style, he should get a lot of credit for not letting Drew Rosenhaus cajole him into a holdout because Drew wants more money.

Rosenhaus players always do the "I'm holding out" thing, then go to camp or whatever.  Better by far than the Postens.

[smiley=sneaky.gif]...i've read chris perry has been impressive in camp - any chance he'll be impressive enough to grab enough carries for an off week fill-in...hmmm??? ;)...

Perry will fill in just fine if Rudi gets hurt.  He could also do something as a receiving RB (good hands, but the Bengals haven't been using that much), and Perry can block.  I think Perry is mainly a handcuff and an inside RB to spell Rudi, but he could be a good late pick for a risk/reward type of bench spot.  As a fill-in, which week?

Doubtful Perry will get many opportunities as long as Rudi is healthy. He may "spell" Rudi in the 4th quarter occasionally, but probably not enough for any serious points.
Johnson carried the ball 361 times last year and the Bengals say they're committed to cutting that down this year. So, Perry may see a few more carries, but possibly only to the point of watering down Rudi's value just slightly. IMO.

Well, it's finally happened.  The Bengals have given up on Peter Warrick and released him.  His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has indicated that a number of teams have already inquired about him.

Good riddence to Peter Warrick. He was a bum and never lived up to his potential.
