I will say this much...  Whether or not Ricky plays NFL football again, Saban and the Dolphins should NOT let him do so as a Dolphin.  He totally fucked them up last year given his timing and now this year he has fucked up their draft with his timing.  Ricky, as a "grown" man, should know that the world does not revolve around him (this should also be apparent to him from his spiritualization and getting in touch with himself) and that the windows within which to make decisions about playing in the NFL are really only open at certain times if you want to be considerate of your team and teammates, a necessary component for team success, especially when it comes to one of your big guns and de facto team leaders.  If Ricky wanted to come back, he should have expressed that before the draft.  They could have used their high draft pick on one of the MANY other needs they have instead of on RB Ronnie Brown.  His coming back could totally ruin any team chemistry the new regime is working on building.  If Ricky does want to return, the Dolphins should just look to trade his ass, which is what I believe they are thinking.  Anybody else have any thought on the matter?

I agree that he should not come back as a Dolphin.  Ultimately I do not think it is going to matter much.  He will probably come back just to be suspended for one year.

If he is not suspended, the problem is, who are they going to trade him to?  Edge and Alexander could of been had, but nobody took them.  So now where does that leave the Dolphins with Ricky Williams?  Who would want his ass?

IMO, This is all a ploy orchestrated by Ricky's lawyers and agent in order to some how not pay back that 8 million he owes the Dolphins.  I guess even if he shows up out of shape(they say he is currently 30 pounds below his playing weight), gets suspended, etc.....the Dolphins will probably have a hard time getting their dough back.  But I am not a lawyer..........

Ricky's not coming back until July, so he should only be suspended for 4 games, right?

If he behaves and his numbers are up, then he'll be worth something in trade values for the Phins, so it's probably a smart move on the part of Miami.

Also, R. Brown has not had his durability for lots of carries tested yet.  With Ricky and Ronnie both available, carries can be split and a useful analysis can be made on both of them.  Also, with Ronnie around, Ricky won't be asked to carry the rock so often that they use him up as they've done in the past (under other management).

Yes, if Williams comes back to the team more than a year after his retirement date, then he'd only be on the hook for a 4-game suspension.  If he comes back earlier, then he'd be subject to the year-long suspension.

It will be interesting to see how he is treated by his teammates when he returns.  He screwed the team twice and they won't soon forget that.  At least we will get 4 games to see Ronnie Brown audition.  If he starts out on fire, I imagine RW will see the bench a lot -- if Brown struggles, then RW could be a factor.  Either way, (and I don't know Saban's ways yet) I can't imagine the Fins want to keep Williams long term.  They might showcase him to increase trade possibilities, but I still think most teams (Oakland and Denver excepted) would be very hesitant to take him on.

first of all, i'm an auburn man( 8-)) so ronnie brown's success is foremost for me - whether or not he can handle the pounding is another question( :-/)...but steg ( [smiley=steg.gif]) - my goodness...when i rant - i rant...but i was a little surprised to see a few of your responses (not that i'm prudish mate...) but i didn't figure you for a "cusser" ... by the same token, there are certain words that if used should be used to fully express your feelings and not just as a crutch - i use several words in that fashion and i believe you expressed the sense of anger appropriate to the R.W. situation (i've said the same thing)- the only reason he wants to play now is that he owes everyone he has known (probably as mnuch figuratively than literally) $$ and he's blown his wad on gonja & self realization...i think he's no more than trade fodder now and that his timing sucked to go to oakland because i think they're putting their eggs in the lamont jordan basket -which barring injury i think will be a very successful venture - so he's kinda screwed except for givin' ronnie a breather - unless ronnie blows his chance which is not impossible...for what it's worth - i'm glad to be back on with you guys & look forward to conversing, opining, ranting, or bloviating - although in general, i'm glad to leave that to you & bill o'reilly...keep up the great work and i swear, if i win it all this year - i'll send you some for the site...(maybe even if i don't)...thanks,

Any word the QB job?  Based on the above-article, the job is still open, but looking at the stats from last night, it appears that Ferotte (who was 2/3) was rested, while AJ and Rosenfels threw a lot of passes.

Did Ferotte start?  If so, I would assume he will start next week.  He would not be pulled after 3 passes if he were fighting for a job.   ;)
