Cardinals sign Kurt Warner.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2006682

THey are paying him $4 mil for one year.  What the hell are teams thinking?  More than 1 team actually wanted this guy.  What a joke.......

Yeah,

Warner is a waste.  I assume he will compete with McCown for the job.  They have good receivers (Boldin should be healthy and Larry Fitzgerald is the real deal), but I don't know if Warner has anything left.  I thought Garcia would be a better fit with Dennis Green.  ?.?.?

Well, at least there's some news from the Cards.

"Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Arizona Cardinals head coach Dennis Green announced Wednesday that Kurt Warner will be the team's starting quarterback next season."

Another top pick signs...  This time it's the key running back signing of J.J. Arrington.  From "The REAL Feed":

Cardinals, Arrington agree to terms (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3972383.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (31.07.2005 10:42)

To boot Anquan Boldin's been brought in the fold for years to come:

Cardinals agree to extension with Boldin (AP) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-cardinals-boldin&prov=ap&type=lgns)
Yahoo! News: Democratic Party (31.07.2005 13:30)
The Arizona Cardinals agreed to a contract extension with receiver Anquan Boldin on Sunday that would keep him with the team through the 2010 season. Financial terms of the deal were not released. Boldin missed a minicamp in the spring because he wanted a more favorable deal. Two seasons ago, Bo...

There really is no official news that I can find on Arringtons injury.  And that usually means that no news is good news.

I searched everywhere.  Official site, newspapers, and google.

So he is good to go........  Since he is starter and preseason game #1, no point in leaving him in.

"J.J. Arrington was knocked out of Saturday's game after he got the air knocked out of him.
He fumbled on the play, a seven-yard run. It's not serious, but Arrington needs to prove he can take the pounding of a starting running back."

I know Warner's stats in the first pre-season game were pretty good, but after watching him in NY last year, I still don't like him.  I guess he will do better than I thought with those receivers (someone has to throw Larry his 12 TD's).   ;D

The Cards have to be the most intriguing offensive team this season.  I see 5 potential FF steals (Warner, McCown, Fitz, Boldin, JJ), and 4 of those are potential busts as well.  I have to be slightly on the optimistic side, though, considering Denny Green's success in Min.

What I can't seem to process is why noone seems to be taking McCown as a flyer in the last rounds?  I can understand pessimism regarding Warner, but shouldn't that correspond into at least a little optimism regarding McCwon?

Larry Fitzgerald is listed a probable for week 1 vs. the Giants because he strained a knee during the last preseason game.   :P
