I'd like to get some opinions on Priest Holmes, ie. how high to draft him,injury situation,season predictions etc.

You can get all the opinions you want....bottom line is no one knows.

He is either going to have a monster year or not. I am one who thinks he is going to have a monster year. And based on where I see him being taken in drafts, a lot of others think so too.

In every draft I have seen, he is either going 3rd or 4th overall. Sometimes ahead of Manning, sometimes right after.

Over Manning? No! With 6 points a TD, Manning is too valuable. Even more so if you have bonus scoring.

I love Holmes, but the problem is that if you draft him, then you have to spend a 5th or 6th round pick on Larry Johnson as insurance. So I'd probably stay away from him and go for a more healthy alternative.

He should NOT be taken with a third pick of a fantasy draft. He should probably be taken somewhere between 6 and 9.

Between 6 and 9? Hmmm. Let's look at this a little more. Who would you take ahead of him? Let's see . . . Tomlinson, Manning, Alexander, Moss perhaps, probably Edge (Jamal Lewis as well?); Kevin Jones is a nice first round sleeper pick (I think).

I guess you could really make a strong case to pick any of these guys before Priest, but how can you ignore his gargantuan TD output? Every year the prognosticators say he's too injured, and every year he performs. However, I do like Philly's comment about handcuffing Johnson being a problem.

A side comment: would you take Stephen Jackson, Julius Jones, or Willis McGahee above Priest? I would say probably not, but I'm interested to see what you guys think.

I agree; Priest probably goes 4-6 on my board. The players I'd take before him? Well, you had me up to Ahman, Jones or Edge. I think you have to take Priest before any of these 3. (IMHO, Jones is barely even a first rounder unless your league only gives 3-4 points for passing TDs. )

McGahee....maybe. With Losman starting in BUF, I'd be concerned they begin to 8-man front McGahee, giving JP the chance to beat them. Certainly no way I'd take either of the other 2 before Priest. The fact that neither Jones, nor McGahee are looking over their shoulds is a positive, but I'm still going with Priest for another year.

Yeah, I edited my post upon considering Ahman Green. I would take Priest before Ahman, now that I've thought about it some more. Edge, though, is still solid (and you don't have to worry about handcuffing somebody else and losing a draft pick). Kevin Jones, is my dark horse, and while I most likely wouldn't take him over Priest, I'd seriously consider taking him late in the first round. The way he played last year (once he started playing), combined with how he looks in camp this year and all the weapons on that offense, makes him a very tempting pick.

I like your comments as regards Jones, Jackson, and McGahee. There's too much of a guessing-game with Jones and Jackson. McGahee is more proven, but it's still a tough call, I think.

i see a scenario where priest starts - does serious (unable to stop the bleeding) damage to somebody's fantasy team & then will get yanked to let lj continue the devastation...man, guys we could all have a good fantasy day behind that line...but i think vermeil is gonna protect him as much as possible and as long as lj continues to get his - everybody's gonna be happy (in kc)...

Chatman's gone, but the Priest/Johnson situation sounds about the same. One further, Chris Brown/Travis Henry is going to be a tough one to touch too. and unfortunately Brown is my keeper in a league, so I have to waste a 6th(or so) on Henry just to cover! >:(
