Title: draft position known - who to pick and keep Post by lumber2121 on Aug 23rd, 2005, 12:15pm This is the last time I will ask this question. Should I keep C. Johnson or S. Jackson? We can only protect one player RB and WR have the same scoring We do not get points for receptions We start 1QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 DST I have the 4th pick in the upcoming draft. I need to report my protected player tomorrow (Wed) Here is a list of players who I think will be available in the draft W. McGahee D. Davis or C. Portis R. Moss or P. Holmes T. Barber K. Jones J. Jones J. Lewis I suspect that McGahee, Davis or Portis, and Barber will be picked before I am up. Who would you protect and who would you pick? |

Title: Re: draft position known - who to pick and keep Post by KillerKingSting on Aug 23rd, 2005, 12:53pm I'm still not sold on S-Jax. That said though, I heard he looks and is doing great things! The thing I worry about is that, the Rams OLINE isn't exactly the best. Martz loves to throw the ball and whoever says he isn't going to throw the ball - is just fooling themslves. not too mention, Marshall is still playing and most definitely will come in on 3rd down. C.Johnson if you want a SURE thang. S-Jax if you want to go the conventional route. Also, perhaps if someone in your league really has a thang for S-Jax then, its possible you could trade him out for C-J and something else? |

Title: Re: draft position known - who to pick and keep Post by Philly on Aug 24th, 2005, 7:00am I'm still sticking with S-Jax. Not that there's anything wrong with Chad, it's just that WRs are much easier to find in the middle rounds of the draft. |

Title: Re: draft position known - who to pick and keep Post by lumber2121 on Aug 24th, 2005, 8:12am I protected Jackson. In the end, I realized that I could have a strong backfield with Jackson and someone like Kevin Jones. In addition there is a chance that Johnson could fall to me in the second round. You never know. Regardless, someone like Andre Johnson might be there. Thank you for all of the input. I apologize for hammering you all with this question on so many occasions, but I think you can appreciate how much I struggled with this decision. Good luck in the upcoming season to all of you. |

Title: Re: draft position known - who to pick and keep Post by GOLF_FREAK on Aug 24th, 2005, 7:52pm Steven Jackson is not a top tier running back. Chad Johnson is a top tier #5 by my thinking. It is true that you can get a decent wr easier than a running back. You can't go wrong with keeping Johnson and drafting say Edge #4 or Holmes #4. At the same time it would be pretty nice to have Edge or Holmes and Jackson as your number 2. I think Johnson is in for another awesome year and that Jackson is going to spliting carries with Faulk. Who knows who will be getting the goal line carries? Do you want what happend last year in Pittsburgh to happen to you in St Louis. Not me, I go with Johnson and draft two running backs back to back. Actually if everybody has a keeper, you probably won't get Holmes or Edge, but there has to still be a nice one out there. From the list you wrote I take Holmes or McGahee followed by J Jones. |

I think you made the right choice. Without rec points, you really need strong RBs, and keeping SJax does that for ya. In a serpentine, you may land Andre or Chad at #17 or #21, cuz I would imagine most people are going RB. |
