Title: WDIS: WRs Post by captainpurple on Sep 5th, 2005, 7:31pm Randle El vs TEN DBennett @ PIT Kennison vs NYJ Leaning toward Randle El & Kennison until Bennett proves he can be the #1 with Dyson gone. Still.....it's Kennison....can I really start him? |

I think you missed a piece of news...... Randle El has been named the #3 WR. Cedrik Wilson beat him for the #2 spot. You have got to go with Bennett and Kennison!! |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by prm on Sep 5th, 2005, 8:51pm either way - i'm thinkin' i wouldn't play (my opinion) a #2 shoved into a #1 spot against pitt'...i think i also remember reading that randle el was # 2...plus even w/ a one legged qb - the jets are gonna be more concerned w/ priest (which, is it me or is something going on there???) and larry - kennison is generally unaccepted as the real thing - but i'd take him over bennett at this juncture...w/ the new emphasis on protecting mcnair, i may be proven wrong...but until i am, that's my thinking....randle el / kennison - but i'd also start cruisin' wide receivers on the market if i were you... |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by DirkDiggler on Sep 5th, 2005, 8:58pm Hmmm.....interesting. I just did a search. I read both had one starting job on different sites. I also saw depth charts listing them both as starters. However, It seems both Yahoo and Fox Sports have Randle El as starter. Sorry! Either way, I would bench Randle El. Both the other guys are the clear number ones. |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by StegRock on Sep 5th, 2005, 11:14pm Yea, as DD suggests, you got to go with Kennison and Bennett (in that order). They are their respective team's #1's. Randle El is, as best as we can tell, a #2 on Pittsburgh, a team whose passing game looked pathetic this preseason. |

[smiley=bullseye.gif] I haven't heard anything saying Randel El isn't the number 2, but for this inquiry its moot. |

I would disagree, Steg. I think Bennett is the better play. Look at his stats last year, esp. the last half of the season. Now he's the undisputed #1 guy in Tennessee. The guy will have a big year. I do think Kennison will do well, but it'd be tough to stake him to more than 1000 yards and 8 tds, whereas Bennett, I believe, had that much in something like 9 games last season. |

Dude, you know you can't extrapolate to a whole season like that. He did that as a #2, not receiving "full" attention from the defenses, i.e., he had Mason to pull pressure away from him. As cp intelligently points out, we are yet to see how Bennett will adapt to his new "go-to" role. On the other hand, Kennison's role on the Chiefs has basically been the same for over a full season now. So, what we have seen of him of late is truer, so to speak. All of that having been said, I too would rank and have ranked Bennett ahead of Kennison for this season, just not this week and just not yet. |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by Tony_O on Sep 6th, 2005, 4:28pm Something else to consider......Bennett put up those numbers with Volek throwing to him not McNair. The preseason played out like that as well.....Bennett only caught a TD from Volek??????? McNair is the Starter! |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by gridiron_legends on Sep 7th, 2005, 10:59am Good point about extrapolating stats, Steg. I don't mean to say that Bennett will get 2000 yds and 16 tds, but rather that his output was and will be higher. Kennison has been, perenially, a mediocre play for a #1 receiver, mainly due to the importance of Tony Gonzalez and the "wide receiver by committee" practice of the KC offense. On the other hand, Bennett emerged last year as a very productive receiver, and I don't see his new role as diminishing that productivity in any significant way. Tony_O, your point about catching tds only from Volek is well-taken, but think about it this way: McNair is healthier now than he has been in awhile (which, granted, is not saying much); in addition, wouldn't you rather have McNair throwing the ball than Volek? I would think that Bennett's productivity would only increase with McNair at qb. |

Title: Re: WDIS: WRs Post by sameoldsameold on Sep 7th, 2005, 2:11pm i think your all sleeping on randle-el! im gonna say randle-el outscores both bennet and kennison....kennison will have TY Law on him....i dont like that match up at all....and drew bennet hasn't proven he can be a #1 which is why i think randle-el is the best play out of the three..... |

Have you seen Ben throw the ball this preseason? He is likely to end up with less than 200 yards this week. |

Well, you are correct, but that was very precarious this week, soso. Randle El, whom I like, mind you (I have him in the GBRFL), only had two catches, one just happened to go a looooong way to the house, and Ward looms large all season long opposite him. Meanwhile, both Kennison and Bennett still had solid games and more catches, which are typically a good indicator over the long-haul, than Randle El. We'll see how this plays out...
