Time & Date of this Update (PST):  12:25 on Fri Jan 13 2006

News:  Round One

Playoff Preview:

The all respect Colts will welcome the no respect sacraficial lamb Steelers into the loud thunderous Hoosier Dome. Most fans dont know why they even bother to play this game. The Colts are a 9 1/2 point favorite over the hapless Steelers. Nobody around Indy thinks the Steelers can win. Lets simplify it and break it down.

HOW THE COLTS WILL WIN

Team speed. These guys are fast. Even though the Colts are one of the smallest teams up front in the NFL, they make up for it by gettting to the ball and laying the wood in a hurry. The team speed allows them to play 8 men in the box, blitz The quarterback and run blitz while not needing to use the secondary for support . They know that they close fast enough that if a back squirts loose they can recover. This limits the big play while stuffing the run. This is bad news for the Steelers. The Colts are too fast for the Steeler Offence.

HOW THE STEELERS WILL WIN

Special teams must score for the Steelers. The Steelers will be in the nickel defence all day. They will try and force Manning into multiple play drives in order to increase the chance for mistakes and shorten the game. Because the Colt D is so strong in the Dome, a TD on special teams would keep it close and give them a chance to win.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN

I think this will be a dog fight. The Steelers are slow starters. The Colts will get a lead. Possibly up to 10 points. The Steelers will come roaring back and tie it late. A late Manning drive produces a field goal for a three point lead. Roeslisberger drives the field with under a minute to produce a long Jeff Ried field goal attempt. The snap is down... the kick is up.....And its.....?????????????????? Stay Tuned

News:  Lord help our Colts

Fantasy Football Slant:

Now that Tony Dungy is back all is well for the Colts. While I do think that they will probably beat a weak Arizona team, I do not think the Colts are a good bet to do much of anything fantasy wise. Nobody is playing. This will be treated like the last preseason game at best. Last week Manning had 25 snaps. That should be about it for this game as well. While Wayne should see lots of action because of injuries to both Stokley and Harrison, we must keep in mind that Jim Sorgi will be throwing the ball. Dominic Rhodes should see lots of playing time. Rhodes will be asked to carry this offence in an attempt to shorten the game.
The Colt Defense is also missing many starters due to injuries. I look to see many a sub playing this week as well. The ability of success for this unit will depend on the offences ability to stay on the field and sustain long drives.
STARTERS
Sorgi, Rhodes, Wayne, Vanderjagt

These guys will see the bulk of the action for the Colts. They should be able to play well at home against Arizona.
SIT:
Everyone else

These guys wont be on the field long enough to amount to the necessary points to start them.

Defense:
Tripplet, Freeney, June, Sanders, Reagor and Simon are all on the injury report. These guys will play little if at all. The Colts second unit may be whats on the field at kick off.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  12:25 on Fri Dec 16 2005

News:  TRAGEDY

Fantasy Football Slant:

Personal note*
James Dungy was an 18 year old boy who went to school in my kids school district. North Central High school in Indianapolis. The same high school as my son. Those that knew him found a child that was personable and kind. He never used his fathers celebrity for personal gain or stature. This is an unbelievable loss for any parent at any time of the year. Tony Dungy is probably the greatest role model in sports today. He is a stand up guy. His values are unquestionable. I can say without doubt, on behalf of everyone at the Gridiron to the Dungy family. We are sorry for your loss. It is heavy on the shoulders for everyone. We will all help you carry this burdon. Stay strong.

Now on to Football.

The Colts absolutly have something to play for. That is to not get anyone hurt. I told you a couple of weeks ago to Pick up Dominic Rhodes. He will get some serious play this week. Rhodes is likely to be the feature back after the first 2 or 3 series the first unit might play. Rhodes also returns punts for the Colts. Be a little leary of James Mungro stealing carries though.

START:
Rhodes, Stokley, Vanderjagt

These guys will see the bulk of the action for the Colts. Seattle will get a big lead but the Colts will keep running the ball. If anyone is catching passes it will be Stokley. Troy Walters will play on the other side.

SIT:
Harrison, Wayne, James, Manning, Sorgi and the Colt Defense

First off, Dont confuse Sorgi with Manning. Sorgi will struggle against the Hawks first unit . He would struggle even if he had The triplets starting and playing. Sorgi hasnt played but a couple of downs in the last several seasons. I want his Job! Harrison has a broken bone in his hand. He will play little if at all. Wayne and James will likely treat this as a preseason game and play a couple of series at most. The same holds true for Manning. Keep in mind that with coach Dungy probably out this week, I would believe that the assistant head coach wont be the guy in charge when one of the impact players get hurt. He simply wont play them.

Defense:
Tripplet, Freeney, June, Sanders, Reagor and Simon are all on the injury report. These guys will play little if at all. The Colts second unit may be whats on the field at kick off.

Disclaimer:
Keep in mind that the news in Indy as it pertains to the Colts is all about Tonys son. Nobody is talking about playing time. The above is a gut feeling from myself and my knollage of this team.

News:  Will they play and for how long.

Fantasy Football Slant:

This week seems to be the first week where we ask who is playing and for how long. Listening to Manning, my best guess would be that the Colts will try and put it on the Chargers early and get the starters out in the second half when the game is under control. If you have Colt players on you roster you will need to see them win each week. If they lose you will see Manning, Edge, Harrison and Wayne play in just a couple of series before they leave each game. No value. However if they continue to win they will play as long as the game is in question. I think at this point the win streak still has meaning, therefore the ponies will continue to run. At this time, Manning, James, Wayne and harrison are strong starters. You must give them the benifit of the doubt.
A Note of interest:
Wednesday, Reggie Wayne sustained a back injury in practice that at first seemed bad. However, Thursday he was running at full strenth and ready to go. Watch this closely.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  12:25 on Fri Dec 09 2005

News:  NEXT

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Jags have spent the week trash talkin the Colts. They say the Colts are dirty hitters. They say the Colts cheat with the dome noise. They say the Colts just arent that good. Smoke and mirrors. They are sure to point out that they played the Colts within a 10-3 loss in week 2 of the season. The Jags say that they are the best team the colts will play. Nevermind that the Colts beat the Browns in week (3) 13-6. The fact is the Colts offence struggled early in the season. Since then over 9 games the Colts scored more than 30 points in all but 2 games. In three of those games they scored 40 or more. Jaxsonville is going to see a far different team this time around.

Payton Manning: Manning should throw lots of short passes this week.

Edge: Lots of touches for Edge

Marvin Harrison: Harrison will have a quiet week as the jags will be physical with him.

Reggie Wayne: Possesion reciever will be big in this one.

Brandon Stokley: Two tight end eliminates Stokley

Dallas Clark: Dallas is hit or miss. Bryan Fletcher is stealing his TD's.

MIKE VANDERJACT:Should have a big game in this one.
Defense
WOW.  A must start if you have this unit

Extra
When the Colts go into hibernation the first guy to sit will be Edge. If you need a Back to get you through the playoffs, Dominic Rhodes is the guy to get. He is pretty good. Edge will be a pricey free agent at the end of the year and the Colts are at the top of the Cap. It will be hard for the Colts to resign him of franchise him. Rhodes could also turn out to be a good keeper while the Colts develope someone new.

How I see it
The Jags keep it close early, Colts 31 Jax 17

News:  Tennessee brings sweet music

Fantasy Football Slant:
After screaming themselves raw last week against the Steelers, Colt fans can revert back to a voice healing collective yawn. In come the Oilers (Opp's) Texans( Darn it!) Titans (that's so played) for a southern division showdown in Indianapolis. Ok, that was a little over dramatic. Lets try: In come the Titans for the ass kicking they are about to receive. That's better. Even if the Colts take the Titans lightly, they should still blow them out of the stadium. The Titans have 0 running game as Chris Brown is limping around and the Titans are planning to cover Reggie Wayne With Packman Jones. This should get ugly in a hurry.

Payton Manning: Manning should throw a lot against this group of DB's. No# 1

Edge: Big Day for Edge. 2 td's easy. No# 1

Marvin Harrison: Harrison will be solid as usual. No# 1

Reggie Wayne: Packman will be gobbled up. No#1

Brandon Stokley: He will run free when in the game. No# 3

Dallas Clark: Dallas is hit or miss. If you have to start a tight end he's a starter. If TE's are Wide receivers in your league you may have better options.

MIKE VANDERJACT:BECAREFUL HERE. Vanderbonk has a calf injury and is questionable. He was limping around pretty good. He did say he thought he could play though. Dave Raynor handles the kick offs now and would assume the place kicking duties if Vandercrank cant go.

Defense
WOW. This unit was jacked up last Monday. If they play with this kind of fire the rest of the way , we may be talking more about the defense than the offence.  This may be the best "D" in the NFL at this time.

Extra
While Bryan Fletcher has had TD's in back to back weeks, keep in mind it took him since 2002 to get those 2 TD's. It's to early to call him up.

How I see it
This will be a blow out. I'll call it a 37 to 13 Colt victory.

News:  PHYSICAL

Fantasy Football Slant:
I wanna get physical, physical. Their gonna get physical, physical. Olivia Newton John isn't doing the pregame theme for Monday Night Football but it will be the theme provided by the Colts and Steelers. The Steelers only know one way to play and that is smash mouth football. The Steelers will try to disguise their blitz packages within the 3-4 defensive schemes while eliminating the Colt running game with their quick linebackers and safeties.  The big question will be : Will the Steeler DB's play up on the Colt receivers in an attempt to jamb them and throw off the timing routes the Colts are so efficient in running? Or, will they play off the receivers in an attempt to eliminate the big play? I think the only way the Steelers can beat the Colts is to take away the running game and jamb the receivers at the line of scrimmage. My gut feeling is that the Steelers will play off and try to disrupt Manning with pressure. If the first blitzer is unable to get to Manning then the Steelers are in big trouble in this one.

Payton Manning: Manning will need to have a great game for the offence to be successful. He is very good at recognizing where the blitz is coming from and hitting the open receiver. This means the blitz must come from the safeties and linebackers. Long plays should be plentiful.

Edge: Keep in mind that the Steelers went to San Diego and held LT to 15 yrds through 3 1/2 quarters. Look for the same here.

Marvin Harrison: The Steelers have some solid young defensive backs. Young is the key word here. Its a lot of pressure for these guys to handle Harrison. Marvin should get off a few long ones.

Reggie Wayne: He will see a ton of possession type passes. He's the blitz receiver. Reggie will be most effective in the red zone.

Brandon Stokley: Brandon probably wont see much action as the Steelers may force the Colts into 2 tight end sets.

Dallas Clark: He will have a Steeler linebacker on him. This could go either way.

Mike Vanderjagt:The Steelers  give but don't break on lots of drives. Vandy could have his best scoring day this week.

Defense
(This unit is looking at its first major test. Not a good fantasy play.)That's what I said last week. The Colts showed no signs of stopping the run or the pass against the Bengals. Wait until they get a load of the Steelers running game. The Colts are really going to get after the rusty Ben Roslisberger. Freeney will probably be lining up against a gimpy Marvel Smith. Freeney should see a sack or two. He may be worth a play. The rest of the unit will be shaky at best.

How I see it
The dome will be loud. The Steelers have not had much continuity at quarterback lately. It will be tough for the Steelers to start plays without false starts and other drive stopping penalties. The Steeler defense will need to create multiple turnovers, while the offense controls the clock with a strong running game. The Colts will need to be very patient on both sides of the ball. The Colts will bring extra players up to stop the run. They must force the Steelers into 3rd and long as much as possible. Manning must execute the short pass plays and be very accurate when throwing deep.
Get home and take a nap. The steeler offence comes alive against a questionable Colt defense and this will be a good one. It's going late night as
The Steelers beat the Colts in OT      30--27

Todds favorite Stats..........

Colts offence ranked 1st on third down
Steeler Defence ranked 27th on third down

Todds pix   (9 and 1)

News:  Let Er Rip !

Fantasy Football Slant:
At first you might think that an air show of mammoth proportions will transpire when the Colts visit the Bengals on Sunday. Carson Palmer is the league leading TD passer, while his counter-part Payton Manning is No# 2. Both teams receivers think nobody can cover anyone. Just throw me the dam ball. WELL ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN!  Not unless the Colts get way behind. Or Edge gets hurt. The plain fact of the matter is, the Bengals give up a whopping 4.7 yards per carry. If Edge can get this kind of yardage of 1st or 2nd down, Payton will eat the Bengals up. Short and manageable. Edge will run all day long. I look for this to be a grinder for the most part.

Colts 30  Bengals 21

Payton Manning: Will throw a pair of TD,s  Monster Stud

Edge: Work horse with a couple of scores  Monster Stud

Marvin Harrison: Quiet Week   Monster Stud

Reggie Wayne: Will benefit from heavy coverage on Harrison.Monster Stud

Brandon Stokley: Coming on

Dallas Clark: Doesn't do much.

Mike Vanderjagt:Could have lots of extra points

Defense
This unit is looking at its first major test. Not a good fantasy play.

Extra
The schedule for the Colts gets a little stiff in the following weeks ahead.
Pittsburgh on Monday night, Tennessee and Jacksonville next.

News:  Let down ?

Fantasy Football Slant:
Here we go again. Another week where the university of Houston Oilers (sorry) Titans (oop's) I mean the division II Houston Texans play the Baltimore (dammit!) Indianapolis Colts. The 2 major questions are:
1.      Will the Texans show-up?
2.      Will it matter?
This game should be a laugher. The Colts drilled the Patriots last Monday Night. They barely worked up a sweat. They came away from that game with no significant Injuries. There is the Reggie Wayne ankle. Get this. On the evening news Thursday they asked Wayne what the problem with the ankle was. He said," It's not a sprain, it's just a little tired" What? Well put that thing to bed. He should be fine on Sunday. The trainers put him in a walking boot to eliminate the soreness in the ankle. Just like last year.
Back to the game. The Colts are the NFL's best team as of now. The Texans bring nothing to the table.

Colts 37  Texans 17

Payton Manning: Will shred the Texans in the dome  Monster Stud

Edge: Will run wild  Monster Stud

Marvin Harrison: Two or three TD's this week?   Monster Stud

Reggie Wayne: He will score if they can wake that ankle from the deep sleep. Monster Stud

Brandon Stokley: Not Worth a start unless you are really in a bind.

Dallas Clark: Doesn't do much.

Mike Vanderjagt:Could have several FG's with lots of extra points

Defense
The Texans should install a whirlpool on the plane for Carr on the trip home. He should be very sore.

Extra
The schedule for the Colts gets a little stiff in the following weeks ahead.
At Cincy, Pittsburgh on Monday night, after Tennessee the travel to Jacksonville.

News:  Just another game

Fantasy Football Slant:
When do you have a game on the cover of S.I before its been played. It's not the Super Bowl. It's just another game. Another Monday Night Football affair. Colts VS Patriots. Nothing special about it. It's not a Division game. The Colts are undefeated and unchallenged within the division. What's the big deal?
The Colts unclaimed prize, their Mount Everest is the Patriots. No matter when or where, or what the circumstance, the Colts simply cant beat the Patriots. It's a matter of self-confidence within the organization. If the Colts win, all will be right with the world. They can forget about the past failures and strive for Indy's first championship. If they lose they will look forward to hosting the Patriots in the second round of the playoffs. You just know that's how it will work out. It's all about getting beaten down again. Beating themselves. I have never seen or heard of a city and a team so worked up for a regular season away game as this. Practicing indoors with fans to simulate windy conditions. 3 extra days of practice. Bill Polian (Pres Colts) getting upset on his weekly radio show when asked if the Patriots were in his team's head. GRIPPIN!
I'll get to the point. You almost have to look at this for what it is. The Patriots are the champs. They have owned the Colts. The Colts simply turn directly to crap every time they play in Gillette Stadium. Until that changes you have to assume mediocre fantasy numbers from Colt players. Learn from history.

Patriots 24 Colts 20

Payton Manning: You still must start him if you have him.  Strong Starter

Edge: Look for the Patriots to try and take Edge away.   Stud

Marvin Harrison: The Patriots will be physical with him. He has horrid numbers against the Pats.   Stud

Reggie Wayne: If the colts have success it will be with Reggie. The Patriot secondary is thin. Monster Stud

Brandon Stokley: Not Worth a start unless you are really in a bind.

Dallas Clark: Will be a blocking TE in this one.

Mike Vanderjagt:Could have several FG's

Defense
The bye week allowed several key support players to get healthy. This should help the key IDP players to post the impressive early season numbers again in the second half.

Extra
If the Colts can win Monday Night, Payton Manning will win his first Super Bowl MVP in February.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  05:25 on Sat Oct 22 2005

News:  Here we go again

Fantasy Football Slant:
So far the NFL schedule makers have blessed the Horseshoes with a bunch of patsies. Lets have a look.
@ Baltimore, Jacksonville, Cleveland, @ Tennessee, @ San Francisco and St. Louis without the genius. Before we are able to debate the strength of the previous 6 teams, off to Houston [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif] we go. The Colts are busy this week trying to generate interest by describing their team as banged up and vulnerable. Payton even used the "any given Sunday"  [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif]to prepare the fans for the rough and tumble Houston Oilers. I mean Houston Titans. I mean Houston Texans. What ever. Any Given Sunday?  [smiley=rollinwithlaughter.gif]Houston Texans? Bah ha ha. Hee Hee Hee. That schedule is so friggin soft it's stupid. You would think Payton would have broken his own record against these turds by week 8.

Lets see how this week fits fantasy wise. First, You would have to be completely clueless not to start Payton, Edge, Marvin or Reggie on your rosters every week. Stokley and Clark are slightly disappointing to those who drafted them. The thinking was obvious. Payton will throw 50 TD's , so Stoke and Clark will get theirs. Not!... Edge is getting their share. Defenses seem to be willing to let Edge beat them as apposed to letting Manning throw TD after TD. Edge seems willing to oblige. For the IDP players. (Are you really out there? Is there anyone who really plays in an IDP?) The Colt defenders are having a great year. Cato June along with Freeney and Reagor are tearing up the teams they have played thus far.

Payton Manning: Hasn't found his rhythm yet. Still a Monster Stud

Edge: Until defenses decide to take him away, he's a top 3 RB in the league. Monster Stud

Marvin Harrison: Houston is not going to stop him. Monster Stud

Reggie Wayne: See above. Monster Stud

Brandon Stokley: Not Worth a start unless you are really in a bind.

Dallas Clark: See above

Mike Vanderjagt:Lots of extra points

Defense
Lots of injuries to this unit. Freeny is probable with a sore arch. Cato June has a sports hernia and is questionable. Reagor (Elbow) and Tripplet (ankle) are both Probable. Even though the Defense is banged up, they are still a great play against the Texans. Individual players are probably a poor choice as playing time may be limited.

Extra
With the injuries mounting, I look for the colts to get out early and then remove beat up players from the game. They have the bye week following Houston and would like to get healthy for the stretch run.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  22:25 on Fri Oct 14 2005

News:  Bombs Away!

Fantasy Football Slant:
If you enjoy offense then brace yourself for Monday Nite Football. Both quarterbacks will need lots of ice for their arms after this one. I have been crying wolf about the offense here on the Colt report, but this week I have the evidence to back it up.

1.  The Rams have given up 136 points in 4 games. An average of 34 points a game. That's 31st in points allowed and 26th in yards allowed. These haven't been against what you would call great offenses. ( Arizona, Tennessee, NY Giants and Seattle)

2.  The Rams are giving up an average of 6.8 yards on first down.
[offtopic]The Rams Defense is the NFL's best on third down.................... Possibly because their opponents dont usually need three downs . [/offtopic]

3.  Shawn Alexander and Tiki Barber shreaded the Rams for 250 yards the last 2 weeks. Edge is lickin his chops.

4.  The Rams are 28th against the pass. They give up an average of 263 yards per game.

The city of Indianapolis is fired up about this Monday Nite prime time affair. The house will be a rockin. Get your popcorn ready, cause the greatest show on turf is in Indy.

Payton Manning:  If he doesn't throw at least 3 TD's and 300 yrds, theres something seriously wrong.

Edge: 125 yrds and a score......Easily

Marvin Harrison: The record falls this week

Reggie Wayne: Reggie for 3........... BOOM BABY!

Brandon Stokley: More minutes in late blow out.

Dallas Clark: Possible score

Mike Vanderjagt:Lots of extra points

Defense
Feast or famine this week . If the Colts get a big early lead, they will pin there ears back and get em ! Or.....This could be a shoot out!

Extra
Dwight Freeny has been double and triple teamed lately. This has allowed Montae Reagor to run free and post solid defensive numbers. I like both of these defensive players this week. Bob (the stick) Sanders is practicing and says he will play.

Colts 35   Rams 20

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  22:50 on Fri Oct 07 2005

News:  Sorgi to Moorehead......TOUCHDOWN!

Fantasy Football Slant:
It looks as if the Colts offence has finally turned the corner. This week the Colt offense might score on the plane ride to San Francisco. It's not just the fact that the Colt offense woke up last week, it's that the 49ers are real bad. With the pressure that the Colt "D" has been able to get on opposing QB's as well as the fact that the rookie Alex Smith is the 49er starting qb, the Colt offence should be on the field a lot. The problem for fantasy owners is knowing when the Colts will take their foot off the gas. Last year against the bad teams, the colts scored around 35 points before you saw the second units. I look for Sorgi to be in this one by the start of the  4th quarter. The only thing that could stop the Colts this week will be if they get caught up in the breaking of the Montana to Rice record. Here's how I see it.

Payton Manning:  Probable 5 TD day. He will look to Marvin to break the record first.

Edge: Pair of scores. Will pound it while the Colts eat clock.

Marvin Harrison: Pair of TD's.

Reggie Wayne:A score. Maybe 2.

Brandon Stokley: Defenses are forcing the Colts to play 2 tight ends. Stokley was on the field for 3 plays last week.

Dallas Clark: Possible score

Mike Vanderjagt:Lots of extra points

Defense
Big time great play this week. Team goal is to shut out an opponent.

Extra
1. Rams and Houston then the bye.

Just because I want to:  COLTS 227 49ERS 10

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  17:25 on Fri Sep 30 2005

News:  Where is the offense?

Fantasy Football Slant:
After three NFL weeks of football the "Big 5", Manning, James, Harrison, Wayne and Stokley have combined for two touchdowns. Harrison has one Receiving and James recorded a rushing TD. Manning has thrown one other TD pass to the third string tight end (Ben Utecht) and the third string running back (Ran Carthon) also rushed for a score. The Colts have the NFL's 21st ranked offense. They sport a 13th ranked Rushing offense, while they are 20th with the pass. This is a little disturbing since the teams they have played, other than Jacksonville, (2nd in total D) are poor defensive teams. (Cleveland 30th and Baltimore 18th). All of this may be a little deceptive as the season is still quite young. Some cream is still rising.
The Colts Travel to Tennessee. The Titans are the NFL's 20th ranked Defense. 17th against both the rush and the pass. They are average with the exception of them being 4th in the league in sacks. It seems as if teams are willing to test the Colts patients by allowing only dinky passing plays. They are willing to take their chances with Edge. Expect more of the same on Sunday.

Payton Manning: Even a below average day for Payton is still solid. Always a starter.

Edge: He has been a warrior over the last few games. Look for much of the same with a possible score.

Marvin Harrison: Always worth a start. No# 1 WR

Reggie Wayne: Perhaps a risky No#1 starter until offense gets on track.

Brandon Stokley: Has been wide open on third down. He may be invisible. If the colts watch film, Stoke could have a great week.

Dallas Clark: Red zone threat

Mike Vanderjagt: Points-a-plenty

Defense
Dwight Freeny may be the best Defensive end in football. He was triple teamed last Sunday several times.

Extra
1.      James Mungro will be back pushing Ran Carthon to the 3 back.
2.      The Colts average 32 points per game against the Titans over the last 5 games.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  03:22 on Sat Sep 24 2005

News:  Week three explosion

Fantasy Football Slant:
FEAR:Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James combined for 58 touchdowns last season. Over the last 7 games, 5 preseason and 2 regular season, Payton has thrown 6 tds and Edge is yet to score. Experts are saying that teams have taken the game plans from the Patriots defense and applied them to shut down the Fab 4. Baltimore and Jacksonville really got after Payton and made him get rid of the ball well before he wanted to. Romeo Crannel was the D- coordinator for the Patriots and the designer of the Colt killer defense. He is now the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and is set to employ the same defense this weekend at the Hoosier Dome.

BLISS: The Colts are annually late starters. In the last few years the colts have exploded in game no# 3. Cleveland will apply the same 3-4 defense that has hampered the Colts over the last 2 weeks. There will be one big difference however. Cleveland doesn't have the players to make it work. The Browns do not have one player on defense that has been to the Pro Bowl.  With out the proper personnel the Browns should be in for a long afternoon.

Payton Manning:   Set to explode. The Browns wont be able to cover the receivers one on one. If the Browns just rush 3, Payton will shred them.

Edge: Over due. He has been a warrior over the last few games. Look for much of the same with a possible score.

Marvin Harrison: Hampered by a wrist injury. He's practicing and will play Sunday. If Payton explodes, so will Marvin.

Reggie Wayne: Dislocated his ring finger Thursday. Says he will play on Sunday. Effectiveness remains questionable.

Brandon Stokley: His role becomes large if Wayne is slowed by injury.

Dallas Clark: The birds have flown away and he's a scoring threat this weekend.

Mike Vanderjagt: Points-a-plenty

Defense
The Colt defense is strong up front. Dwight Freeny may be the best Defensive end in football. Look for lots of sacks and turnovers this week out of the Colts.

Extra
The Dislocated finger on Reggie Wayne's right hand could limit the receiver more than first thought. He injured this on Thursday and hasn't practiced since. It's been very quiet in regards to the injury except for Wayne to say that he would play on Sunday without a problem. He said; "Payton doesn't throw the ball hard enough to hurt anybody."

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  16:31 on Fri Sep 16 2005

News:  Shoot out or not?

Fantasy Football Slant:
Most would expect the Colts offence to finally get off after playing a tough Baltimore defense last Sunday night. As we told you last week, Manning and the Colts generally don't like to play against physical defenses. As it turned out we were right. The Colts offence mustered up a whopping 17 offensive points. The bright and shinny Colt defense lit up a lusterless Raven offense and scored on a turnover as well. In comes Jacksonville to participate in the Colts home opener. Jacksonville has become the Colts only competitive division rival. Jacksonville has always given the Colts fits. So where do we go from here?  Vegas has made the Colts a 9 point favorite. The over and under is set at 46. If we do some math and push a few numbers to where they logically should go you would come up with a final score of something like 28 - 17 Colts. Jacksonville prides itself in holding running backs to under 100 yards and 0 scores. They're good at it too. Last week Shawn Alexander was held to 88 yards and 0 scores. They stuffed him in the red zone. Look for Edge to have a tough day. This means:

Payton Manning: Solid Start
Edge: average Day
Marvin Harrison: Solid Starter (Could go off)
Reggie Wayne: Solid Starter (Could Go Off)
Brandon Stokley: Modest numbers with possible score
Dallas Clark: Red Zone threat
Mike Vanderjagt: One at a time

Defense
The Colts have had a revolving door at the corner position due to injury. Leftwich and the Jag offense are hot. That and the fact that they always play the Colts tough seem to indicate to us that the Colt defense wont be a good play this week.

Extra
Over the next 5 weeks the Colts host Cleveland and Saint Louis. They visit Tennessee, San Francisco and Houston. They should average 45 points per game during that stretch. That's a ton of scores. If you can work a trade for one of the top 4 mentioned above you wont be sorry!
