Title: Pick Sk's starters (Week 13)
Post by steelkings on Sep 22nd, 2005, 10:58am
week 3
The Steelkings are 2 and 0. Carson palmer tossed three touchdown passes and set up a short Willy parker touchdown on a draw play. Larry Tynes provided the Kings with 11 . 3 field goals and 2 extra points. The Steelkings eakked
out a win 26 -20 over Dawns guns Last week even though the majority of the Gridiron brain trust were wrong when selecting the Steelking running backs.:o The majority put down Lamont(B.D.) Jordan in favor of Corey Dillon. Big Dummy scored on Sunday nite as Dillon was stuffed at Carolina.

Its week 3 and you get anouther chance.

Remember: These guys have to fall across the goal line to get points.

Fast Willy Parker    VS N.E
Corey Dillon    @ Pitt
Lamont (Big Dummy) Jordan  @ Philly

Parker, Jordan, Dillon.

Parker - Run first D, Staley and Bettis still have problems, Pats can be had against the run.

Jordan - Both teams have their problems here, but it looks like rain.  RBs may benefit.

Dillon - The Steelers don't allow rushing TDs at home.

Not me, number one.  Number two, it was not a unanimous majority.  I know I wasn't the only one dissuading you from Jordan.  No reason to go lumpin', bro.  In any event, you're not going to encourage people to chime in when you ask for input if you're going to beat them up and play [smiley=cantcatch.gif] after the fact. :-/

...

As for recommendations, because this is a TD-only league, I ditto Callie...  She's... [smiley=bullseye.gif]

i was of no help last week, but here is another try.

Fast Willy Parker    VS N.E
Corey Dillon    @ Pitt
Lamont (Big Dummy) Jordan  @ Philly

all have tough games, but parker has best shot.  i don't like either of the other matchups but would go with dillon.  raiders will be playing catch up all game and jordan may not get too many looks.  i think i had same picks last week....maybe i was one week off.

good luck!

agreed - i'm not sold on jordon or the raiders against a good team - but he'll have a wider road to travel than dillon this week... [smiley=twocents.gif]

That's not what I ment to do. In fact, 100% of the gridiron faithful chose Parker! The gridironers were perfect on week 1 as well. Thats even when Parker was a mystery.[smiley=thumbsup.gif]
As far as beating people up after the fact, I dont know what you mean. Fantasy football is scored after the fact. As Rodney Dangerfield once said. "I'm a lover, not a fighter." But while you are standing in the center of the ring:

I would go with Parker, for sure.  But, comparing KC's and Carolina's run defenses based on last week, and considering the HUGE hit Carolina took on defense with the loss of DT Jenkins, how good Dillon looked on Thursday night, and how "eh" Jordan looked (granted it was against the Patriots in New England), I would go with Dillon over Jordan.  Dillon is approaching "never bench" stud status.

The landscape has changed. Your Steelkings are 4 and 1 while leading the division by a game. Its rivalry week and I play my Best Bud's team who trails the mighty Steelkings by a game. He sports LT as his feature back. This means I must squeeze every drop out of my backs.

Remember: Scoring only..They must trip and fall over the goal line to get me points. I can start up to 2 RB's.

Corey Dillon [smiley=injury.gif]           @ Denver

Tatem Bell [smiley=sperm.gif]          VS New England

Lamont Jordan [smiley=pimpin.gif]       VS San Diego

Willy Parker [smiley=builder.gif]        VS Jacksonville

Can ya hook a brother up?

Dillon - Tough match-up, and he's hurt.  Dillon could get yards & Pass could score, again.  But NE can do things at the goal line.  Tough call.

Bell - NE D is hurt, but Denver could go to the pass against that secondary.  And who gets the rock on a Shanny team?  Still, Bell could be the big play guy like last week.

Jordan - Tough SD run D.  Tough game for Jordan, but he should be involved in the passing game.  It's the SD secondary that is vulnerable, and you can't know if Jordan will somehow get a chance for a passing TD.

Parker - Bettis should get the TDs, but the Jags are soft against the run.

Sounds like you need to figure out which start is the worst and drop that.  I guess I would go without Jordan, because the SD secondary is way worse than the run D.  The Raiders should call out the Air Force this week.  (Keep in mind, I've said that before and was wrong.)

Callie has done a fantastic job of summarizing things.  No need to further elaborate each guy's sitch.  In the end, I think Tatum Bell is the best choice of the lot as having the best chance to extend a football over the goal-line.  Good luck! [smiley=shammy.gif]

If I were pickin' two here [smiley=wave.gif]...I'd go with Bell and Jordan [smiley=fireman.gif]

strictly scoring i would go with big dummy and dillon.  forget parker in my book.  the tough question is bell and that rbbc in denver is difficult to figure out.  good luck this weekend! [smiley=fingerscrossed.gif]

Way to go Gridiron!

I sent Dillon to the bench, Traded Parker and Kennison for Jimmy Smith. [smiley=itllbeok.gif]

And with your advice [smiley=bow.gif]
Started Bell and Jordan. 18 Points [smiley=dancin.gif]

The Steelkings posted a 32-27 win to move to 5 and 1
                           [smiley=tough.gif]

Now if I can just convince the bronks to get rid of the TD vulture in Anderson. All will be right with the world.

You've had so much fun picking my runningbacks that I thought before you get tired of that, I'd give you a shot at my recievers.
[offtopic]With the bye weeks there is only 2 RB's actually playing on the Steelkings roster. I cant screw that up.[/offtopic]

THIS WEEKS CHOICES FOR THE 5-1 STEELKINGS

Reggie Wayne  @ Houston   (no brainer)

And one other

Tony Gonzalez KC   @ Miami
Lavern Coles  NYJ @ ATL

I have roster space for a free agent. This would have to be someone fairly obscure as attrition has taken its toll on the market. Remember the czar's rule in my league. Thine mustif Fallist across thy Goal Line to prevail.

Oh ya!
Tynes @ Miami or Keading @ Philly ?

Title: Re: Pick Sk's starters week 7

VERY close calls...

I would lean toward Coles over Gonzo a) for the upswing you get by playing a WR instead of a TE and Vinny can get the ball to him downfield and b) due to Gonzo's poor showing thus far this season.  At PK, I'd go with Tynes... in a coin flip. [smiley=twocents.gif]

Good luck, dude! [smiley=shammy.gif]

Kaeding @ Philly.  It is close, but I would go with him.

I concur that Gonzo has not been too impressive and Coles has a much bigger up side.  Go with Coles.

I like Tynes and Coles. PK is actually a toss up, but SD is scoring TD's like gang busters  [smiley=booya.gif] so I don't see Kaeding getting many FG oportunities!! Gonzo has to break out at some point, but I would wait until he does before I start him. [smiley=hellyeafunny.gif]

nothing much else to add.

coles and tynes.

good luck! [smiley=onice.gif]

I'm 7 and 1 , leading the league by 2 games. Please help me with my wide outs this week. Pick 2. Scoring only: Remember: 8 Rec for 250 yrds Gets me 0 Points. Fall across the goal line and I get 6.

Reggie Wayne @ NE
Jimmy Smith VS Houston
Tony Gonzalez Vs OAK
Santana Moss Vs Philly

I'd go Wayne and Smith. I like their matchups this week.

I like all your players chances to score this week, but of the 4....... I'd go with what Barnaby said. I do have a feeling though that T Gonz may score twice this week!! That is just a hunch mind you!! [smiley=fireman.gif]

Title: Re: Pick Sk's starters week 9

For the sole purpose of scoring touchdowns,... I'd go with J. Smith and Gonzalez.  I think to put Wayne in is to rely too much on Indianapolis's "breaking the curse" and having success against the Patriots in New England.  I say go with the two VERY due guys, Smith and Gonzo.  Good luck! [smiley=shammy.gif]

Title: Re: Pick Sk's starters (IM LOST)
Post by steelkings on Nov 23rd, 2005, 10:25pm
YOU CAN SEE EM BELOW. SCORING ONLY.

1 QB
1 Or 2 RB's
2 or 3 Wide outs
1 k

No more than 6 total starters.

I like Runningbacks. Will Dillon play? Greg Jones?  Is fred Taylor back? Jordan is a sure starter.  Should I start 3 WR's ?  HELP!

I must name my starters before game time Thursday.

Palmer...Jordan...Wayne...Gonzales...Moss...and Tynes [smiley=turkey.gif]

Title: Re: Pick Sk's starters (IM LOST)
Post by tm20 on Nov 24th, 2005, 12:13am
Palmer..Jordan..

I actually like Greg Jones IF he is SURE STARTER...Arizona is extremely shaky against the run and allows tds on the ground.

For your 2 wideouts I like Gonzalez for sure against NE secondary. Since its scoring only, I like Moss as your second.

IF greg can't go i'd probably play Smith over Wayne.

Title: Re: Pick Sk's starters (IM LOST)
Post by StegRock on Nov 24th, 2005, 12:53am
I would go with Palmer, Jordan, J. Smith, Gonzalez, Jones (as per tm20's rationale) or Wayne (if you are uncomfortable with Taylor's "uncertain" status, but I really don't think he is in for a good week this week against Pittsburgh; I think Harrison is the guy, of them, that can be effective against Pittsburgh) and Kaeding.  Good luck! [smiley=shammy.gif]

Its week 13 and I am (9 and 3 ), One win away from locking up the no# 1 seed for the playoffs. I got my best buds team this week and he sports LT. I got myself a bit of a problem. Remember Im in a scoring only league here. These guys must give us the old end zone celebration for me to get points.

Here we go!
I can choose 2 Running backs and the canidates are:

Lamont Jordan @ San Diego

Corey Dillon VS NY Jets
(He practiced fri and is set to go....Maybe)

Greg Jones @ Cleveland
(Fred Taylor will be inactive)

Mewelde Moore @ Detroit

So you see the problem!  Now you do that voodoo that you do soooooo Weelllllllll!!!!!!

[offtopic]sk, first off, I'd like to point you in the direction of my second-to-last post on the following thread page:

http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/cgi-bin/theGridiron/YaBB.cgi?board=55;action=display;num=1129418541;start=25.
Please read said post and heed its grateful (it applies to you too, my friend), but practical message.  Thank you! [smiley=bow.gif][/offtopic]

Now, on to the more pressing matters hereof...

Fred Taylor has now been declared OUT last I heard...  I would go with the two safest bets here:  Jones and Moore.  Dillon still may not play, and if he does, still may be limited.  And, Jordan I just think is in for a rough day against an upsurging San Diego D... and team that is likely to get ahead big, causing Oakland to abandon the run early.  Good luck! [smiley=shamrock.gif]
