Title: Bengals In-season Report
Post by StegRock on Sep 23rd, 2005, 1:15am
A little water-cooler hype from "The REAL Feed":

Perry emerging a year after being top pick (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/wires/09/22/2020.ap.fbn.bengals.perry.0586/index.html)
SI.com: NFL (22.09.2005 09:27)

From a fantasy perspective, this means nothing... unless Rudi gets injured.  If he does, though, we'll ALL be running to pick him up.  The thing is, however, you can never predict injuries and fantasy rosters usually just aren't big enough to justify holding on to a player and praying for an injury, WHICH GIVES YOU REALLY BAD KARMA (loose usage there) [smiley=zenmaster.gif] and should be avoided, anyway.

This will definitely threaten Palmer's '06 campaign, at least a good chunk of it...  From "The REAL Feed":

Palmer leaves playoff game on cart, tears ACL and MCL (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3997867.htm)

No link yet, but Chris Mortensen just reported that the tear is clean.  What does this mean?  That the surgery SHOULD be minor and he should be back in 5 months in time for training camp.  He apparently was wearing a knee brace which really help him.

If Mort is right, it is great news for Bengal owners.  BIG 'IF'!!

A report on Palmer's knee,... seems to be "good" news...  From "The REAL Feed":

Palmer's doctor quells fears about QB's knee surgery (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2290916&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines)
ESPN: NFL (13.01.2006 10:33)
Palmer's doctor quells fears about QB's surgeryWhile Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer's knee injury was deemed severe, the initial reports of possible long-term effects were overstated, Palmer's surgeon, Dr. Lonnie Paulos, said in a statement released by the team Thursday."I believe ...

"Bengals signed six-year veteran Doug Johnson to a one-year contract on Tuesday."

"He becomes the fifth Johnson on the Bengals roster, joining wide receiver Chad, tailback Rudi, fullback Jeremi and linebacker Landon."

Now we can look forward to Johnson handing off to Johnson or Johnson instead of going long to Johnson.... ;D
