Title: Rams In-season Report
Post by StegRock on Oct 1st, 2005, 1:11am
[smiley=injury.gif] UPDATE - From "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)":

Rams RB Jackson expects to play on Sunday (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3982299.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (30.09.2005 19:46)

It is actually the injury not headlined that I am most concerned about.  (Turf) Toe injuries can ruin seasons... and even careers.  Bruce, though not in late years, did have a history of injuries ruining seasons, and he's not getting younger.  I'd REALLY watch this one and, perhaps, even try to move Bruce in a trade a.s.a.p. if possible.

Listen, you don't have to like the guy to feel bad... and worried for him.  My chest is achy just from reading this...  From "The REAL Feed":

Martz may have bacterial infection of the heart (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/wires/10/05/2020.ap.fbn.rams.martz.health.1st.ld.writethru.0556/index.html)
SI.com: NFL (05.10.2005 17:30)

From a fantasy perspective, though, frankly speaking, if he is unable to (continue) coach(ing), this may be addition by subtraction.

my thoughts exactly.  i wish they would sit him up in the booth and have him call plays while he heals and let somebody else coach the team.

should be blame the infection on that wr reverse in the red zone last week?

I like this one....

http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/rams/story/42DCFD89AB28B77D862570910012C63E?OpenDocument

"I took a shot to the head and was just a little cloudy," Curtis said afterwards. "I had some blurred vision for a while. So I just had to sit out a series or two."

It's not the first time this has happened to Curtis.

"I think I've had a history of them," he said. "My vision just goes blurry. It's happened before, and usually I just wait, and in about 15, 20 minutes, it clears up and my sight's back to normal.

"I guess they're calling them migraines. I don't think they're concussions. I know where I'm at and everything." [smiley=gonecrazy.gif]

this guy now has me a little worried.

Mike Martz is taking an indefinite leave of absence as coach of the St. Louis Rams to recover from a bacterial infection near his heart.

Here's a follow-up report on rick's post above regarding Martz's indefinite leave currently from the top of "The REAL Feed":

Martz's future - and the Rams' - up in air (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/4982922?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5)
FOXSports.com :: NFL (12.10.2005 01:24)
Our NFL Czar says that Mike Martz's illness will likely expose more of the dysfunctional in-fighting that has plagued the Rams organization in recent years. And there's no telling who'll be coaching this team when the season comes to an end.

Again, in-fighting aside, this is a bit scary... :-/ Get well, Mike.

In case you were on Mars during Monday Night Football,... ;) from atop "The REAL Feed"...

Bulger forced out with shoulder injury (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3984984.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (18.10.2005 02:46)

If this is severe,... how long does Jamie Martin remain at the helm?  And, if not for long,... they don't go to Ryan Fitzpatrick out of Harvard, do they?  They go after a free-agent, right?  Who would it be?  Jeff George is still seeking one last chance, and, all kidding aside, he would fit this offense perfectly, frankly speaking.  All these questions and all this speculation could become HUGE or moot over the next 24 or so hours...

here was the most informative article i found on bulger's injury.

http://www.stlouisrams.com/article/51650/

with two home games against the saints and jaguars they could still score with jamie martin and then bulger is back after the bye week.  [smiley=pray.gif]

UPDATE on Bulger... The news is a little worse than initially reported...  From "The REAL Feed":

Bulger likely to miss time with shoulder injury (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3985169.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (19.10.2005 14:37)

That's why if you draft Bulger, you back up Bulger well.

(BTW, this is not always a wonderful scenario in the end in the CBFL - no waivers, no trades.)

UPDATE - Bulger's injury being reported as not that bad according to LOCAL and OFFICIAL sources available on "the Gridiron Newsstand":'

"Bulger's Shoulder Better than Last Year (http://www.stlouisrams.com/article/51609/)"

"Bulger listed as questionable for Sunday's game (http://www.belleville.com/mld/belleville/sports/football/nfl/st_louis_rams/12949550.htm)"

Unless you need Martin as just a one-week stop-gap, drop him way down your free-agent request list.

Martz may not be back in 2006

From the St. Louis Dispatch:

Will Rams coach Mike Martz be back in 2006? And under what conditions? A tug of war is developing between Martz and Rams management over Martz's future with the team, and the battle lines appear to have been drawn.

Arlen Harris might start in the Rams backfield this week against the Cowboys Sunday night.
Steven Jackson is nursing a hip pointer that has grown worse this week and Marshall Faulk is battling a flulike illness. Coach Joe Vitt said it will be a game-time decision. Harris has had only six carries for 6 yards all season, but has been working with the first unit all week. Dec. 31 - 10:55 am et

ESPN is reporting that Head Coach Mike Martz has been fired...  This LOCAL report from off "the Gridiron Newsstand" is the closest I could come to corroboration:
