Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 12th, 2005, 8:10pm From "The REAL Feed": Bucs' Cadillac questionable for Week 6 (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3984142.htm) The Sports Network: NFL (12.10.2005 19:40) [offtopic]As of right now, this injury notwithstanding, I think the Caddy [smiley=cruisin.gif] has "stole the (auto) show" and put himself squarely at the head of the '05 class of tailbacks, is the head of the class of '05 tailbacks. In that light, does the Cadillac's likely being in the shop again and Ricky's coming back in Miami and cutting in on Ronnie's dance, open the door for Cedric Benson, who may be getting the start for Chicago this week, to finally show his fantasy mettle and throw his hat into the ring of the top running backs of the '05 class? And, does he go through it,... the door... and the holes his blockers create for him that is?[/offtopic] |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 13th, 2005, 6:40am Okay, the absolute latest on the Caddy... from "The REAL Feed (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)": Cadillac practices, hopes to play Sunday (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/wires/10/12/2020.ap.fbn.bucs.williams.0418/index.html) SI.com: NFL (12.10.2005 21:43) |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 14th, 2005, 11:06pm Update... from "The REAL Feed": Bucs' Cadillac remains questionable (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3984478.htm) The Sports Network: NFL (14.10.2005 19:13) I now understand that he does not just have a sore hamstring, but a foot arch injury too. That concerns me more. So, there does seem to be merit in the commentary I was hearing that Gruden was driving the Caddy right into the ground. He's definitely got a flat tire. You just can't overload rooks. Caddies, after all, are not utility vehicles. ;D |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by Callie on Oct 17th, 2005, 9:23pm On another thread we are talking about Griese's knee injury. Steg is right, this deserves some looks: http://www.sportinglife.com/nfl/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=international_feed/05/10/17/GRIDIRON_USA-Tampa_Bay_Griese.html Nothing definate, but it does deserve watching tomorrow. "Tampa Bay Buccaneers should know in the next 24 hours whether they will be without quarterback Brian Griese for the remainder of the season." |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 18th, 2005, 12:29am Check out this goodie I found in a LOCAL source for the Bucs on "the Gridiron Newsstand": "Gruden Pondering Change At QB? (http://bucs.tbo.com/bucs/MGBPLAWQPEE.html)" I guess, if you were to ask this guy, he would say that this injury came just in time for Gruden and Bucs and is a blessing in disguise. I know this is all just speculative rhetoric, BUT if there is a kernal of truth to it, whatever the severity of Griese's injury, this could spell the beginning of the end for him in a Bucs uniform. |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by Callie on Oct 18th, 2005, 7:09pm Gruden GOT his change at QB! "49ers Trade QB Tim Rattay to Buccaneers" http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/n/a/2005/10/18/sports/s143223D03.DTL I guess Chris Simms' current moment in the sun has its limits. |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 19th, 2005, 5:22pm Well,... it's official... Just saw it on ESPN's "Bottom Line" and here is the corroboration from "The REAL Feed": Bucs QB Griese done for season (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3985179.htm) The Sports Network: NFL (19.10.2005 15:52) |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 22nd, 2005, 5:18am This piece procured by way of "the Gridiron Newsstand (http://www.fantasyfootballer.com/newsstand.htm)" takes the position that QB Chris Simms's hold on the starting job is VERY tenuous: "Griese Out, Rattay In (http://www.fanball.com/fb/article.cfm/ID.4845)" It even intimates that newcomer QB Tim Rattay may have a chance to be named the starter for their next game after the bye-week. I don't know if I would go that far. Actually, I know I wouldn't, BUT I do think, all the confidence in Simms the NFL guys, e.g., on ESPN claim to have notwithstanding, he will be on a VERY short leash. I have always been a fan of Rattay. I think if he gets a chance in Tampa, they could provide him with his first legit chance of success. Maybe, finally, this could be the long-awaited paybacks from San Fran for Steve Young. ;) |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 27th, 2005, 2:11am UPDATE on the Caddy... Currently from atop "The REAL Feed": Cadillac practices, hopes to play this week (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/wires/10/26/2020.ap.fbn.bucs.williams.0338/index.html) SI.com: NFL (26.10.2005 23:48) |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 30th, 2005, 12:55pm Late word according to Chris Mortensen on ESPN is that the Caddy will be takin' on a Sunday drive today... [smiley=cruisin.gif] It looks like it would be a good idea to get him in your lineups, fellas... Hurry! Hurry! [smiley=onit.gif] |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Nov 1st, 2005, 10:55pm Here's comes the QB controversy... From "The REAL Feed": Will It Be Rattay to the Rescue for Bucs? (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3987405.htm) The Sports Network: NFL (01.11.2005 19:36) I actually don't think there should be one... Rattay knows the west-coast system... He should be in starting a.s.a.p. before all playoff hopes are lost in what is a tough NFC South. |

Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Dec 21st, 2005, 5:49pm Update on Simms and his sore finger that could keep him out of this week's upcoming game... from "The REAL Feed": Chris Simms insists he will play against Atlanta (http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/TB/9108622) NFL.com (21.12.2005 12:30) I can't find anything that says who would start, Luke McCown or Tim Rattay, if Simms can't go... Title: Re: Buccaneers In-season Report Post by StegRock on Jan 7th, 2006, 4:37pm Definitely something worth filing away as we get into the offseason... From "The REAL Feed": T.O. to Bucs? Don't be surprised if it happens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2283783&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (07.01.2006 13:48) Bucs may consider signing Owens in offseasonYes, Keyshawn Johnson drove Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden nuts in Tampa, but league sources say don't be surprised if the Bucs seriously consider signing Terrell Owens, who will be released by the Philadelphia Eagles by next month, ESPN's Chris... Besides the T.O. news, something else is revealed of critical fantasy import... I don't know if it was just a NOT-well-thought-out slip, an speculative implication or a direct matter of fact, but this is what was written, "The Bucs are lured by the idea of adding another big play receiver for young quarterback Chris Simms," NOT Brian Griese... Has the starting quarterback job in Tampa become Simms's to lose? If it has, a) that's VERY un-Gruden-like as typically he loves a good training-camp QB battle, and b) I think that would be inadvisable because I don't think that Simms has (indubitably) proven himself to be a capable NFL starting quarterback yet; the 5-1 start under Griese is really what's gotten the Bucs into the playoffs here, not the .500 record Simms put up. |
