Well, rookie RB Cedric Benson may finally be getting his first start/significant PT. No link yet, but according to ESPN's bottom line Thomas Jones is likely to miss Sunday's game against the Vikings due to a knee injury he sustained this past Sunday. However, Jones's injury is not season-threatening. He has a strained ligament, not a tear or partial tear.

Dudes, WTF is up with Benson? Does anybody have the inside slant on this... or any fairly informed take? I thought for sure this would be the week they'd test him out. It seemed to be the perfect week to give him at least a good test drive.

Jones played. 89 yds on 23 attempts and 2 TDs. The ball went to Jones.

Here is an edit to explain what I meant by that:

"With the way Jones is playing, he's making it hard for the Bears coaching staff to justify giving first-round draft pick RB Cedric Benson very many touches."

I heard Rex Grossman started running this week and is targeting a November 27 comeback date. Whether or not he jumps back into the starting lineup right away, I don't know. I would say yes unless he is gimpy AND Orton has more games like last week and less 5 int. games.

The Bears gotta be pretty happy right now sittin in first place without him. 8-)

Whew... GREAT news, relatively speaking, on RB Cedric Benson, at least to us deep-keeper leaguers... with respect to his long-term future... From a LOCAL source off "the Gridiron Newsstand":

Boy, did this thread get neglected!

In case you aren't watching, Bears QB Rex Grossman is back. WR Muhsin Muhammad came to the Bears because he felt he could hook up with Grossman and do well. They did that in preseason, before another Grossman injury. They didn't have an entire game together in Week 15. They have RB Thomas Jones to keep the opposing D honest. They play at the Packers and then at the Vikings next.

If you are desperate and can still do waivers in your league, take a look and think about it. Grossman is healthy and is the declared starter. That was always the plan. Just consider that a strong Chicago D could keep the scoring low, and Jones could get the points. But, HEY, if you need to know:
