Title: Cowboys In-season Report
Post by StegRock on Oct 12th, 2005, 2:36am
[smiley=injury.gif] - Concern grows for RB Julius Jones's ankle injury... despite Jerry Jones's confidence that he'll be fine...  From the OFFICIAL source for the Boys available on "the Gridiron Newsstand":

"Notes:  Jones' Ankle Injury Causing Concern (http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?id=E207A3A7-A2EF-A306-F6EF83E1B9496DA1)"

Tyson Thompson is allegedly the guy to keep your eye on if Jones cannot go...

That's three straight days of no practice for Jones...  From "The REAL Feed":

Cowboys' RB Jones misses practice, status in doubt (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3984480.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (14.10.2005 19:13)

The way I see it, [smiley=threed.gif] I would now consider his "questionable" status as having been downgraded from "in doubt" to "downright doubtful".  How was that for some double-talkin'...??? :D

From "The REAL Feed":

Cowboys' Adams done for season with knee injury (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2194249&CMP=OTC-DT9705204233)
ESPN: NFL (17.10.2005 17:29)

Well, the long and short of it from a fantasy perspective,... Bledsoe gets less time; Jones/RB's have to run through fewer and tighter holes; Glenn and Keyshawn get even more looks.

Let the concerns and critical rhetoric about RB Jones begin...  From "The REAL Feed":

Jones' injury is cause for concern for Cowboys (http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/football/13003745.htm?source=rss&channel=charlotte_football)
Sports: NFL / Football -- Charlotte.com (27.10.2005 13:39)
Julius Jones might not be injury prone, and he might have the pain threshold of a bear, but facts speak louder than rhetoric. If the Cowboys running back misses his third consecutive game this Sunday because of an ankle sprain, "It'll be 11 1/2 games he's missed out of 24," Cowboys coach Bill Pa...

And, now, an UPDATE on Jones's status for this Sunday... from "The REAL Feed":

Cowboys' RB Jones questionable against Arizona (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN3986742.htm)
The Sports Network: NFL (28.10.2005 18:36)

Marion Barber becomes more and more intriguing as Jones's injury lingers on and on and questions about his future (like those brought up in the piece linked to in the post immediately above) arise.  He's definitely at least worth taking a flyer on if you have the room on your roster.

I got one last post in me for the night... before I go to bed and get my hour and a half of sleep following a night where I got about two hours of shut-eye... [smiley=no.gif] At this point, I can barely function...  I got the jitters, the skitters, but, thankfully, not the shitters (yet)... [smiley=nervous.gif] ... [smiley=fingerscrossed.gif] I'm not even shutting off the computer tonight...  Got one paper printing out at present, and another in the works to be done later today... [smiley=RIF.gif] ... [smiley=builder.gif] ... [smiley=howtoput.gif]

Anyway, back to... [smiley=footballsmiley.gif] Here's a goodie from off "The REAL Feed" that regards the new man in town, who might just steal the show... and the starting job if Mr. You-know-who can't get and keep himself healthy.  While he struggles to keep up with his "kin", so to speak, the Barber is keeping up with the Jones's just fine:

Running back Barber 'promising rookie' for Parcells, Cowboys (http://www.canada.com/sports/football/story.html?id=ddf91b26-2f49-421b-b087-2a9e0d00934d)
FaceOff: Football (31.10.2005 22:12)
IRVING, Texas (AP) - Marion Barber played in college for one of Bill Parcells' friends. His father spent six years in the NFL.

Okay,... good night... [smiley=sleepers.gif] or... good morning... [smiley=sunny.gif] or... whatever the hell... :P

The changing of the guard, at tailback, though, not offensive guard, [smiley=joker.gif] is slowly, but surely beginning...  From the OFFICIAL source available on "the Gridiron Newsstand":

"Tide Keeps Changing at RB Position (http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?id=21A1E76D-DEF3-AD3A-F700AFEE5ABD6D64)"

Mind you, this piece is far from definitive.  But, I'm going to go out on a limb here...  Barber is more of a "Parcell's 'down-n-dirty' guy"; whereas, Jones seems to be more of a prima donna, which Parcells hates.  Mark my words...  The starting tailback job will be Barber's come next year.  They will try to move Jones during the offseason.

Not too surprising, but, nevertheless, worth reporting...  Currently atop "The REAL Feed":

Parcells staying with Cowboys (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/wires/01/06/2020.ap.fbn.cowboys.parcells.staying.1st.ld.writethru.0784/index.html)
