Time & Date of this Update (PST):  18:21 on Fri Dec 30 2006

News:  Week 17, Need a win and ALOT of help

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs pulled off a much needed victory last week over the Oakland Raiders.  Now, they not only need to win, but they also need Denver, Tennessee, AND Cincinatti to lose for them to secure a playoff seat.  Oh, and they are playing the Jacksonville Jaguars this week.  The Jags have been very hot and cold all year.  But, now with Fred Taylor coming back this week, they will surely start up their two headed running machine with Jones-Drew and Taylor.  Fortunately for the Chiefs, they will be playing the season finale in Arrowhead where the fair weathered Jaguars will surely struggle.

Trent Green (Low #2)  I would not start Trent Green this week if you are in the superbowl.  You didn't get where you are because of Trent this year, so surely you have a better option.  Bench him

Larry Johnson (High #1) On the flip side to Trent, you probably got to your superbowl championship because of Larry.  The Jags can be had on the ground.  So surely you can expect another good game from him.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) should be a descent option this week.  Especially with the Jaguars great cover corners.  Tony should exploit their mediocre linebackers to the fullest extent.

Eddie Kennison (Low #3) Somehow has found the endzone for the last couple of weeks.  I would only suggest starting Kennison if you are in a TD only league.

Laurence Tynes (High #1) Hasn't been an outstanding kicker by any means, but has been very consistent.  I would consider starting him this week and be pleasantly surprised against the tough Jag Defense.

Defense The Chiefs looked great last week against the lowly Raiders.  That will not be the case this week as David Gerrard is very quick to run out of the pocket and does not get sacked a lot.  I would not suggest starting anyone on the Chiefs defens this week or the defense as a unit.

News:  Week 16, Still struggling

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs lost again, for the third straight week against the division champion San Diego Chargers.  Not even mustering one single touchdown, the Chiefs are going to need more than just a prayer to make it to the playoffs, and look like they will end another winning season without making it to the playoffs.  Larry Johnson is beginning to voice his opinions to the media, and the team looks to be in dissarray

This week, the Chiefs will face the lowly Oakland Raiders who have won only 2 games this season.  Don't be fooled by the poor performance of Oakland offense, their defense is tops in the league against the pass, and beginning to improve against the run.  Fortunately for the Chiefs, L.J. will surely find running room against them, and should pull off the victory if L.J. gets more than 25 carries.

Trent Green (Low #2)  I would not start Trent this week.  The Raiders are tops in the league against the pass, and I would surely guess they will pick Trent at least twice this week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. will find a lot of running room this week, and as always, is a must start this week.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) is always a must start.  Unfortunately, they are playing against the top rated pass defense.  Don't expect much from Gonzo this week.

Eddie Kennison (Low #3) As stated earlier, Raiders are tough against the pass, and Eddie just isn't a playmaker.  Bench him.

Laurence Tynes (High #1) Tynes should see alot of action this week.  I would reccomend starting him.

Defense The Chiefs defense should be considered a nice sleeper pick this week if your team defense has a tough matchup.  The Raiders just don't know how to score points, and their front line is like spaghetti.  I would definately reccomend starting J. Allen and T. Hali this week as each of them should be good for a sack or two.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  09:24 on Sun Dec 10 2006

News:  Week 14, Once again, hanging on to playoff hopes

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs lost a heartbreaker last week in OT against the Cleveland Browns.  The Chiefs' loss was not a lack of offense with Trent Green throwing 4 TD's and Tony Gonzales being the recipient of two of them.

The Chiefs will face the AFC North division leading Baltimore Ravens.  The Ravens are coming to Arrowhead with a 9-3 record and one win away from securing their division title.  This will be a tough game for both teams.  The Chiefs are 5-1 in Arrowhead this year, and in my opinion will probably get the win today.  With that said, the win will be ugly, and I don't see many points being scored, especially fantasy points.

Trent Green (High #2) Trents performance last week was phenomonal.  4 TD's and 1 INT and 3 yards shy of 300.  Even with his huge game last week.  He won't be having another game like that against the Ravens Defense.  Start him only if you don't have a better option.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. will be slowed down a bit this week.  But, the Chiefs will be relying on L.J. much more against this tough defense.  As always, he is a must start.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) had a game high 9 catches for 105 yards and 2 TD's.  Now THATS the Gonzo we have been waiting for!!  Even though the Chiefs face the Ravens this week, Gonzo remains a must start.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Well, Eddie definately surprised last week with over 100 yards and a TD.  But, I really doubt he will see that this week against the Ravens.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) made some points with 4 point afters, but didn't get an opportunity to kick a FG.  Tynes will be a must start this week againt the tough Ravens defense.

Defense Looked like they did in week 3 last week.  Playing tough defense until the 4th Qtr. then shutting down.  It was awfull.  But, that is what happens when your whole philosiphy is bend but don't break.  Sometimes, it comes back to bite you in the ass.  And it sure did last week.  They are not a reccomended starting defense this week against the Ravens.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  19:53 on Fri Dec 01 2006

News:  Week 13, Riding the L.J. train

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs won a huge game last week against their division rival Denver Broncos on Thanksgiving.  The Broncos' fifth ranked rush defense looked like the Raiders rushing defense allowing L.J. to rush for 157 yards and a T.D.  The Chiefs clearly looked like the better team.

The Chiefs will face the lowly Cleveland Browns this week in Cleveland.  The Browns are haveing serious issues in the locker room and should be easy prey for the well disciplined Chiefs. I don't foresee too many problems other than Cleveland has nothing else to play for other than pride.

Trent Green (Low #3) Since Trent has returned from his concussion suffered in week 1, he has combined for a total of 263 yards in two games.  Im not sure if Herm is playing some kind of "Marty-ball" but, I don't forsee this trend ending this week playing against the Browns.  As horrible as their offense and rushing defense is, the Browns passing defense is pretty good.  Start him if you must, but I would consider benching Trent for another week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. should have a huge game this week against Clevelands pathetic rush defense.  Especially since he ripped Denver apart for 157 yards and a score.  Start Larry (as if you needed me to tell you that)

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) had 4 catches for 35 yards.  The Chiefs were running the ball so well, there wasn't much of a need to pass.  I see the same thing happening this week against the Browns.  I wouldn't say bench Gonzo, because when he plays, he will always have that chance for the big play, but don't expect high numbers from him this week.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) I don't forsee much for Eddie at all this week.  Samie Parker is starting to cut into his catches, and with L.J. running the ball so well, the only reason Eddie is still on the field is to run the secondary away from L.J.  Bench him.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) had a monster game last week against the Broncos.  Hitting all of his attempts (four of them) and one extra point.  He will be another solid start this week against the Browns and I would consider him a nice pick up if he is still on the wire.

Defense DE Jared Allen took second fiddle to rookie DE Tamba Hali this week.  Even though Jared didn't perform as usual, he is still a must start every week.  Tamba Hali is a definate risk/reward.  But, with as horrible as the Browns offensive line is, I would say it is a safe bet to start Tamba this week.  As for the total defense, if you are one of those owners who play the waiver wire/matchup defense game, the Cheifs will be a great pick this week as I don't see the Browns scoring many (if any) points on the Chiefs this week.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  15:00 on Sat Nov 18 2006

News:  Week 11, Trent returns!

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs lost on the road last week against the Miami Dolphins.  The Dolphins' defense really took it to the Chiefs.  The Chiefs didn't even register a first down for the first 26 minutes of the first half.  Playing from behind most of the game, K.C. just couldn't find a way to secure a fourth consecutive win.  Larry Johnson was held to just 75 yards and the games lone TD.  Gonzo was having a descent day with 84 receiving yards until he was hurt late in the 4th quarter.

The Chiefs will not get much of a break this week as they host the Oakland Raiders. Trent Green will finally be starting since his severe concussion in week 1.  But he will be without the teams leading receiver in Tony Gonzales.  The Raiders boast the 3rd best pass defense in the league.  And the Raiders will also be starting their #1 QB in Aaron Brooks who has not played since his injury in week 2.  This game could get ugly, and I don't forsee too many offensive points being scored this week.

Trent Green (Low #3) Starting for the first time in 2 months, Trent will definately have his hands full against the Raiders.  I do not reccomend starting him until he at least proves that the cobwebs are cleared.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. should have a huge game this week against Oaklands pathetic rush defense.  Also with Gonzo out of the game, expect L.J. to touch the ball 30 times.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #4) was injured last week on the Chiefs last possession of the game.  He is listed as doubtful, but has not practiced all week.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Should have a descent game this week with Gonzo out of the game.  But, don't expect to much out of him.  Expect mostly yards from him.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) Should be a great start this week.  I expect this game to be hard fought, and not a lot of yards gained.  Thats usually a recipe for multiple FG's.  If you have a questionable kicker starting this week, take a chance with Tynes, you should be glad you did.

Defense DE Jared Allen continues to be the star for the Chiefs defense recording 7 tackles a fumble recovery and a sack. Jared Allen is definately a must start in all formats.  LB Derick Johnson is out for a third week in a row and DE Tamba Hali is listed downgraded to questionable. Hali is starting to become a dissapointment after starting the season strong.  I wouldn't reccomend starting him if you are an owner. For the defense as a team, I would not suggest starting them.  They did hold the Dolphins to 13 pts.  But not because of their doing, but because of the Dolphins owns shortcomings.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  16:20 on Sat Nov 11 2006

News:  Week 10, keeping pace in the division.

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs win again, for the third straight week.  Forcing 3 fumbles against the St. Louis Rams helped secure another solid victory for the Chiefs. The Chiefs are still keeping pace in the AFC West.  Only down by one game to the Chargers and the Broncos.  Both the Chargers and the Broncos have a favorable matchup this week, so a win this week against the Dolphins is needed.  Damon Huard had a solid performance throwing for 3 TD's and once again, Larry Johnson bulldozed his way through the Rams with 172 yds rushing and a score.  The Rams played from behind the entire game, and just couldn't overcome their mistakes.

This week, the Chiefs head to Miami to face Huards' old team the Miami Dolphins.  The Dolphins will also be fielding their backup QB in Joey Harrington.  The Dolphins boast their 4th ranked NFL defense, and are coming off a big win against the Bears.  The Chiefs will need to find a way to contain their Pro Bowl defensive line and certainly need to find a way to stop Jason Taylor.  The Chiefs have evidently done that the last 3 weeks against very formidible teams, so I don't see any reason they won't do it again this week in Miami.

Damon Huard (Low #1) If Huard has another game like he did last week, I'll tell you straight up to DROP Carson Palmer if Huard is still on your waiver wire.  Huard is second to only Peyton in QB Rating, and the 3rd overall best QB in the league right now.  He should be a descent start against the Dolphins this week, who will still be in euphoria after beating the Bears last week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. once again lives up to the hype.  Rushing for 172 yards and 1 TD.  L.J. is a must start against the Dolphins who may have the 4th best defense, but ranks in the middle of the pack against the run.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) has another outstanding game last week with 63 yards receiving and 2 TD's.  Gonzo is now a must start in all formats, and should once again will have a great game against the Dolphins.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) had 2 recs. for 19 yards.  Not a great game at all.  The Dolphins will most likely contain Eddie this week, so I don't think he will be a good start.

Samie Parker (Low #4) is almost not worth mentioning.  He only had 1 catch, but it was for 43 yards.  As I have stated earlier this year, Samie is the Ashlie Lelie for the Chiefs.  He won't see much action, but when he does, it will be for a BIG play.  If your league gives bonus points for yards, Samie might be worth a shot this week against the tough Dolphins defense.

Laurence Tynes (High #2) Had 47 XP's and 1 FG last week.  Another solid week for Tynes.  Not great, but not bad either.  If you have an inconsistent kicker, Tynes will give you solid points for a kicker each week.  And should be a good play against the Dolphins this week.

Defense DE Jared Allen had an outstanding game against the Rams last week.  Scoring 2 sacks, 2 FF and 6 tackles.  Jared Allen is definately a must start against the Dolphins.  LB Derick Johnson is out for a second week in a row and DE Tamba Hali is listed as probable.  Hali had a very poor performance with only 1 tackle.  That is 2 weeks in a row with poor performances from him.  I don't like him this week against he Dolphins, and should not be played unless you don't have many options.  For the defense as a team, I would not suggest starting them, because they are still winning on the bend don't break theory, which usually is a fantasy nightmare for fantasy points.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  15:27 on Sat Nov 4 2006

News:  Week 9

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs eek out another win last week defeating the NFC Champions Seattle Seahawks.  Damon Huard punches another 300 yd game in his card.  While Larry Johnson carried the load with 39 touches and 4 touchdowns.  Both Eddie Kennison and Tony Gonzales put in 100 yd games as well, but alot of mistakes were made by the Chiefs who turned the ball over 3 times by fumbles.

This week, the Chiefs head to St. Louis to face the NFC West leading Rams.  This should be another high scoring game.  Kansas City is 3-0 this year facing NFC teams and should pose a serious threat for going 4-0.

Damon Huard (Low #1) started the game last week, and fantasy owners who started him were happy he did.  Clocking in a 312 yd, 1 TD performance, Damon should be looking to have another solid game this week against the Rams.  Damon has proved he is a solid starter now, and unless you have Bulger, Peyton, or Palmer, he should be in your lineup.

Larry Johnson (High #1) says L.T. who? Last week he carried the ball for a team high 39 times with 155 yards rushing and 3 rushing TD's.  Also had a receiving touchdown.  L.J. may have lost some games for you earlier this season, but is definately making up for it now.  He is obviously a must start this week.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) has another great game receiving for 116 yards.  Hmmm, seems that the Chiefs are 2-0 when Tony goes over 100.  Coincedince?  I think not.  Tony is also making up for lost time this season and is a solid start against the Rams this week.

Eddie Kennison (Low #2) had the game high 132 yards receiving last week against the Seahawks.  I expect the same performance this week against the Rams which should be a shootout.

Samie Parker (Low #4) had one catch for 12 yards last week.  He is still a threat to catch the deep ball.  Once again, if you are desperate, he may be a descent sleeper pick this week as I expect a good 'ol fashioned shootout in St. Louis this week.

Laurence Tynes (High #2) Had 3 XP's and 2 FG's last week.  If you are looking for a bye replacement for Kasay, Reed, or Rackers, Tynes should put up at least the same numbers he did last week.

Defense DE Jared Allen had a sub-par performance last week tallying 3 tackles and an INT.  Don't be too worried though, those still aren't too bad numbers and I think Jared will be able to get to Bulger this week.  Tamba Hali was shut down last week recording only 1 tackle.  A very poor performance for the rookie, but I like his chances this week against the Rams.  If you are looking for a good bye replacement, Hali could fill the void.

News:  Week 8, Battle of the backups

Fantasy Football Slant:
In a game of halves, the Chiefs hold on last week to defeat the division rival San Diego Chargers.  The first half solely belonged to the Chiefs as Damon Huard threw for 2TD's and Larry Johnson ran in for one to go into the half with a 20- 6 lead.  But the Chargers were not going down so easy.  Phillip Rivers answered back with 2 TD's of his own.  Ladainian Tomlinson threw the game tying TD with only 27 secs. left in the game.  Tynes makes up for his missed XP and missed FG earlier in the game to hit the game winning 53 yard FG in the final seconds to seal the deal.  The Chiefs are barely managing a .500 season with Trent Green still out.  Now with Huard on the injury list, K.C. could be in for more trouble until Trent can get back in with the first squad.

This week, the Chiefs stay in Arrowhead to face their old-time foes, the Seattle Seahawks.  Both teams will be fielding their backup quarterbacks in Seneca Wallace and possibly K.C.'s 3rd stringer Brodie Croyle.  I'm not anticipating a very high scoring game, but if the Chiefs' defense doesn't prepare for Wallaces maneuverability, they could be in a for a long game.

Damon Huard (Low #3) will be a game time decision. Seattles pass defense is not great, and Huard has proven he can throw the ball.  Keep tabs on him Sunday morning, if he is starting, he will be a descent play.

Larry Johnson (High #1) shuns the naysayers last week with a 132 yd and 2 TD rushing performance.  L.J. is back.  And with Gonzo back in the mix, it looks like the offense could be back on the right track.  L.J. is a must start.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) EXPLODED last week with a 138 yard receiving game.  The Chiefs finally realized that Gonzo is not a blocker, and you won't need him blocking if you THROW HIM THE DAMN BALL!!!  O.k., anyway, Tony retains his must start status and will be a GREAT!! play against a weak pass defense that Seattle has.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) didn't have a great game, but did receive for 30yards and a TD.  I wouldn't expect much more, but should be good for the same if Huard starts this week.  If Huard is out, bench Eddie.

Samie Parker (Low #4) has been hit and miss this season.  He only received one catch for 15 yards last week.  He could be a sleeper against Seattle this week if Huard starts.  Seattle can definately be thrown on, and they could be playing heavy coverage on Gonzo and Eddie.  If Huard starts, he still is a desperation WR3 this week, but could produce descent numbers.

Laurence Tynes (High #2) missed an XP and a FG last week, but did manage a 53 yard game winning kick and 3 XP's.  Not bad, but manageable.  If he is your kicker this week, he is still a solid starter.  If you are eying a bye replacement, He should be solid against the Seahawks this week.

Defense DE Jared Allen stole the show last week recording 2 sacks, 4 tackles a FF and a recovery. Tamba Hali also had a sack and a fumble recovery.  Jared Allen is a must start, and Tamba Hali is definately making his case for a DL1.  Right now he is a solid number 2.  As for the defense in whole, they are winning basically on the "bend don't break" theory.  Which usually means letting the opponents score points, just not enough to lose.  I really don't see a change in that theory, and I don't think they would be a good play against Seattle, which can score points.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  21:20 n Fri Oct 20 2006

News:  Week 7  A taste of their own medicine

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs bluntly got their asses handed to them last week by the Pittsburgh Steelers.  I call it, getting a little taste of their own medicine from the beat down they gave to the 49ers two weeks ago.  The Chiefs were beat on every side of the ball last week.  The Steelers really looked like the better team.  Kansas Citys' defense allowed 457 yards last week and 45 points.  That pretty much sends Gunther Cunningham back to the drawing board.

This week, the Chiefs will be looking to rebound from last week against division rival San Diego Chargers at home.  The Chargers are arguably the best team in the NFL right now.  They are very well balanced and seem to be rolling downhill since Marty had loosened the chain around Phillip Rivers.  Marty only has a 4-4 record against his former team in Arrowhead and winning is never easy for an opponent in Arrowhead.  This should be a high scoring event if things can be turned around this week.  Damon Huard must find a way to pass the ball this week or the Chiefs will not get it done.

Damon Huard (Low #2) last week put up a meager 162 yards and 1 INT.  Huard has yet to prove himself against a good defense.  San Diego has a good defense.  If you have a better option, I would not consider starting Huard this week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) Barely retains his "must start" status this week, only because, well, he's Larry Johnson.  L.J. only rushed the ball for 26 yards last week against the Steelers, but thankfully got a T.D.  The Chargers are allowing only 92 yards a game and have only allowed 1 rushing TD all year.  I would still not hesitate to start Larry this week, because they are playing in Arrowhead, and Im sure he will find a way to cross the line once again.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #2) Gonzo has dropped again for the second week in a row.  Gonzo has been quite a dissapointment this year from a fantasy prospective.  Svitek is still out on the front line this week, which means Tony will still be on blocking detail.  Its hard to sit Tony Im sure, but if you have a better option, I would not hesitate to bench him this week.

Eddie Kennison (Low #3) had a whopping 57 yards receiving last week.  And half of that came on one play.  With Trent Green still out, it really has affected the production of Eddie.  I do not reccomend starting Kennison this week, and we shall hope Trent comes back next week.

Samie Parker (Low #3) Samie received a game high 72 yards last week.  He seems to be Huards favorite target as of late, but that still doesn't mean a whole lot when the Chiefs are playing against the 2nd best pass defense in the league.  I do not reccomend starting Samie this week.

Laurence Tynes (High #2) Really took a beating last week with only 1 XP.  I still think he is a descent start this week, but only if the Chiefs can find a way to run the ball.

Defense DE Jared Allen was quiet last week with only 3 tackles.  Tamba Hali had 5 tackles and 2 FF.  Not great, but not bad either.  Ty Law got in the mix a little with a sack.  But none of the Chiefs corners consider much of a look.  I would still go ahead and start Allen and Hali, but don't expect much more than they got last week.  As far as a team defense.  If you didn't drop them like hotcakes last week, then you should after reading this.  Drop 'em.  The Chargers should score at least 24 points this week against them, and I seriously doubt they will get many turnovers.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  16:20 p.m. on Sat Oct 14 2006

News:  Week 6, Lets make it three

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs won their second game in a row last week against the Arizona Cardinals.  Surprisingly, they stopped the running game of Larry Johnson, but had no way to stop the great passing abilities demonstrated by Damon Huard.  Holding on to the lead in the final minutes, the Chiefs' defense is looking stronger and stronger each game.

This week, the Chiefs will be traveling to Pittsburgh to face the defending champion Steelers.  The Steelers will be minus Jerry Porter and 2 other starting defenders.  This will at least give Larry some running room to try and balance their attack.  The Chiefs will need to be balanced in order to have a chance against the Steelers whos backs are against the wall with a 1-3 record and are playing at home.

Damon Huard (Low #2) last week put up very impressive numbers and is one of only 2 starting QB's in the league that have not thrown an interception this year.  I can't forsee a high scoring event, but I do think Damon is still good for a 200 yd game with a TD.  Damon will be a good start only if you have a bye or have a lesser QB available to you.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. had a pretty bad game on the ground last week with only 36 yards rushing.  But, he did however receive for 106 yds and a TD.  Its beginning to like like if Larry can't get it on the ground, he will in the air.  I don't see any reason at all to bench Larry because of is lackluster performance and going against a strong defense in Pittsburgh.  Larry will get his.  Expect at least 120 all purpose yards and a scor.

Tony Gonzalez (High #2) Gonzo has dropped to a solid #2.  After many weeks of sub-par performances, right now, he is not getting the looks.  Or the touches.  The Chiefs' ailling front line has got Gonzo on blocking duty.  I would still start him this week, but beware, until that front line can get healthy again, don't expect too much out of Gonzo the next few weeks.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Eddie didn't see to much action last week in Arizona.  Receiving for only 48 yds.  Larry decided to steal the show in the receiving dept. last week.  I don't forsee a lot of yards this week, but he should surpass 70 yards.

Samie Parker (Low #3) Sammie put up a TD score last week along with 37 yards.  It will definately be hit or miss with Samie, but I still would not reccomend starting him.

Laurence Tynes (High #1) was 3-3 last week and also had 2 XP's.  Tynes should now be considered a must start in all fantasy leagues.  He will definately get his fair share of FG's this week in Pittsburgh

Defense DE Jared Allen bounced back with 6 solo tackles and a sack this week.  Tamba Hali also scored a sack and a pass deflected.  The Chiefs' defense is really starting to take shape now.  If you are haveing bye troubles this week, don't look past the Chiefs' defense which is solid on both rushing and passing.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):  21:30 p.m. on Fri Oct 06 2006

News:  Week 5, The new defense

Fantasy Football Slant:
The Chiefs won BIG last week against the Niners.  What a huge sigh of relief.  Even with their suspect front line L.J. delivered and guided them to victory this week.  Lets not forget to mention Damon Huard who was sensational.  The Chiefs really needed this win.  Just because it was against the Niners, doesn't mean that it wasn't a big win.  The defense really stepped up and now the team is looking like it will survive until Trent Green can come back into action.

This week the Chiefs will face the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona.  This will be another test to see if they can now win on the road without Trent.  The Cardinals will be starting rookie Matt Leinart and I'm sure the D-Line will be licking their chops waiting to get a piece of him.  They may very well get plenty of opportunites since the Cards' O-Line is worse than theirs.  Kyle Turley is out again along with Scanlon and Svitek.  So this will be a big test to see if their line can hold up.

Damon Huard (Low #2) Moves up the ranks a little after last weeks performance.  His numbers honestly were average for a QB from a fantasy prospective, but on the field, Damon was the field general the Chiefs needed with Trent still out.  I fully expect Huard to pass for at least 250 and 2 TD's this week.  And I also HIGHLY suggest starting Huard if you are in some bye troubles or searching the WW.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. will be L.J. once again expect another big game from him.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) I think that Gonzo will find the endzone this week.  You have to throw a dog a bone once in a while.  He paid his dues last week.  Expect 50 yds. and a score this week.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Eddie had a big game last week with over 80 yards and a score.  Daunte stole some thunder from him last week, but don't let that distract you from starting Eddie this week.  I expect him to put up the same numbers along with the TD this week in Arizona.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) Sammie put up a fantasy goose egg last week with one reception for 9 yards. I think he should do a little better this week.  I wouldn't suggest starting him, but if you have bye issues, this may be the week to give him a go.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) was 2 for 2 last week.  with one of them a 49 yarder.  He also racked up 5 XP's.  Hopefully you started him, if not, get him back off the WW for he is a solid kicker and will be another great start this week against Arizona.

Defense DE Jared Allen was pretty quiet last week only recording one FF.  Tamba Hali on the other hand payed off with 1.5 sacks and a FF.  If you listened to my suggestion as a good sleeper pick last week you were rewarded.  The D/ST as a whole is looking great ranking 3rd in the NFL in total defense.  Im sure KC is still available in most leagues.  If your defense has a tough matchup this week, or has a bye, KC's defense should be a great pickup this week with them playing against Arizona and the rookie QB Matt Leinart.  I would say they rack in at least 4 sacks on Sunday.

News:  Week 4, The new offense

Fantasy Football Slant
:
The Chiefs have announced that QB Trent Green will miss at least 2 more weeks this season.  That is not a good sign for the 0-2 Chiefs.  More importantly, the offense will now revolve around RB Larry Johnson.  The only way the passing game is going to open up for the Chiefs is if they can successfully run the ball and execute the play-action pass.  This is what OC Mike Solari is hoping to accomplish. Also, LT Kyle Turley was a spectator at Mondays practice and riding a stationary bike at Wednesday's practice.  This is more bad news for an already weak front line.  If the Chiefs can't quickly fix their gaping front line, they won't have a pass game period.

This week, the Chiefs will face the 1-2 San Francisco 49ers in Arrowhead.  The Niners are coming off an embarrasing home loss against the Eagles last week and will be a good test for the Chiefs to see if they can execute the blocking needed for L.J.  The Niners are ranked 23rd against the run and 21st against the pass.  If the Chiefs can get L.J. off to a good start, they should be able to open up the pass and attain their first victory this year.

Damon Huard (Low#3) Huard didn't look all that great in week 2's loss to the Broncos.  And I would be willing to bet he puts up similiar numbers this week.  Although I do think he will score a TD.  Don't expect anything more than 200 yds and a TD from him this week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. will at least get 25 touches this week.  I'd be willing to bet closer to 30 with T. Green still out of action.  The Chiefs will be leaning heavily on L.J. the next couple of weeks, and especially this week.  I would expect at the very least 100 yds rushing, 30 yds receiving and a TD.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) Gonzo I fear may be used more for blocking this week with Kyle Turley sitting out of practice this week.  I wouldn't say bench him, but I doubt he will receive more than 50 yards this week.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Eddie may see some opportunities this week if the Chiefs can get the running game established.  If they can successfully execute the PA pass, then Eddie is in for a good week this week.  I think they will, and Eddie will surprise and receive for 100 yds and a TD.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) Sammie may be the recipient of some dump off passes with Gonzo on blocking duty.  He has big play capabilities, but I wouldn't reccomend starting him this week.  He will be good for at least 50 yards this week.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) was 2 for 2 last week.  Not bad, but not great.  I suspect he will get many more opportunitis to score this week, and if you have Tynes as a starter, don't fear starting him this week.  He will be good for at least 2 FG's and 2 XP this week.

Defense DE Jared Allen remains the defense's star.  But also keep an eye on DE Tamba Hali.  He may be a sleeper for you this week as he is looking better and better each week.

News:  Week 2, off to a bad start

Fantasy Football Slant:

Last week was horrific for the Chiefs.  2 fumbles and an INT (those are just the ones that WEREN'T recovered) gave the Chiefs little chance for a victory.  Trent Green suffered a BRUTAL hit while diving (feet first mind you) for a first down and then WHACKED square in the head by the defenders shoulder pads.  Trent suffered a severe concussion and was hospitalized for two days.  The current status of Trent is out for the next 2 weeks.  I would bet more like 4 after viewing that hit.

This week the Chiefs are away to face the Denver Broncos.  They have never faired well in Denver.  But then again who has?  With Damon Huard at the helm this week, I don't see them getting out of Denver with a win.  If they do, it will be on the back of L.J.

Trent Green (INJ) Early reports say out 2 weeks.  I'll believe it when I see it. More like a month at least.  Bench Trent Green.

Larry Johnson (High #1) L.J. didn't do a whole lot against the Bengals last week.  He had more receiving yards (80) than rushing (63).  Still not bad numbers, but not what we had hoped.  I still feel that L.J. will break 100 yds this week because he is going to touch the ball a lot more now that Green is out of the lineup.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) Gonzo lived up to my stats last week receiving 80 yards and a TD.  Huard seems to have fallen in love with Tony, so thats good news for owners.  I say he gets 100 yds this week in Denver and a score.

Eddie Kennison (High #3) Eddie bombed last week with only one catch for 14 yds.  I don't forsee him doing much better this week, and for the coming weeks.  My suggestion is to bench Kennison if you can until T. Green comes back.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) Sammie had not much more yards than Eddie did last week.  If you are an owner of Sammie, bench him until further notice.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) I am still going with Tynes as a #1 kicker this week.  With Green out, the Chiefs won't have many chances to get into the endzone.  But, I think they will be relying heavily on Tynes in the coming weeks to put points on the board.  If you are an owner, don't fear starting him this week.

Defense DE Jared Allen started out the year right with 7 solo tackles and a sack.  He is pretty much the only bright spot last week.  If your in an IDP league, Jared Allen should be on your roster.  He had 11 sacks last year, and is already off to another solid year.

News: Week 1, Season Home Opener

Fantasy Football Slant:

The Chiefs are revisiting the last game of the season last year, against the Cincinatti Bengals.  The Bengals already have a banged up Defense (just as they did last year)  with 4 starting defenders on the injury report.  Granted they are all probable, but they are on the report none the less.

This game will weight heavily on the performance of the defense this week.  I don't forsee any problems with the offense scoring points.  Trent Green spoke earlier about trying to slow down the pace of their drives to give the defense more time to rest.  If they can do that, I think they can really put a whoopn on the Bengals.
This should be a great shoot-out of game this week, and Fantasy Points will be Flying!!

Trent Green (High #1) First game of the year, and a home opener.  Expect at least 250 yds. and 2 TD's from Trent this week.

Larry Johnson (High #1) Larry Johnson will prove to everyone why he IS or SHOULD have been the first pick in your fantasy draft this year.  The Bengals "D" is banged up a little for week one and L.J. will be taking advantage of that.  Expect at least 120 yds. rushing and 2 TD's.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) Gonzo will be looking to show the world that last year was just a fluke.  He will be running up the middle all day.  Expect at least 80 yds. and 1 TD.

Eddie Kennison (High #2) Hopefully Eddie will show the world that he CAN be a solid #1 fantasy starter.  But, in any case, he is definately a solid #2.  He will be the recipient of 120 yds. receiving.

Sammie Parker (High #3) Sammie Parker will be emerging this year as the chiefs #2 receiver.  So that means he will be vulcherizing some TD's from Eddie.  If Sammie is still on the waiver wire in your league.  Keep a close eye on him, and pick him up before someone else does.  Expect 50 yds. and a TD.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) Will most likely see most of his work this week in the XP column.  But that still won't be too bad.  Because Im sure they will be scoring at least 4 times and throw in a FG for good measure.  Laurence will be a solid start this week.

News:  Chiefs training camp review

Fantasy Football Slant:

The first day of training camp, Willie Roaf retires.  The 11 time pro bowl tackle will definately be missed.  But, the newly acquired Kyle Turley, who has missed the last 2 seasons with multiple back injuries will be covering down the empty slot.  He has not missed a day of practice and is looking great during camp.  He is still a little under weight as 265 lbs. but he will be putting on at least 10 more pounds before the season opener.

The Chiefs new head coach Herm Edwards has shaken up camp in a positive way this year.  No more ruthless Vermeil 2 and 3 a days.  Edwards is a strong believer in limiting his starters during pre-season and giving the rookies and 2nd, 3rd year guys the majority of the work and making sure there is heavy competition at every position.  With that said, Green, L.J., Gonzo and Kennison will be healthy and in great shape for the season home opener versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

Still no word on Priest Holmes, my guess is he will remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the year and retire next year.  I don't think he is ready to be a backup to Larry Johnson, and we all know L.J. is the man in K.C.  Hey, even Reggie Bush drafted him.

Herm Edwards has done a great job in revamping the defense this year.  Quite frankly, it needed it.  The Chiefs have acquired 5 time pro bowler Ty law to help with the very young secondary.  Also, 2nd round draft choice Bernard Pollard is looking great in practice and has a good shot at making the 1st team.  1st rounder Tamba Hali from Penn State is definately going to be a difference maker this year at the defensive end position.  The Chiefs also acquired DT James Reed from the Jets.  He performed very well with the Jets last year recording 58 tackles, 2 FF, and 2 FR.

All in all, Herm Edwards has addressed all the defensive issues from last season and is looking to become a serious superbowl contender this year.

Player rankings have arrived!!!

QB
Trent
Green
High #1 This ranking may be a little high for some, but Trent is the most underrated fantasy QB ever IMO.  He has thrown for over 4,000 yds. the last 3 season even with L.J. and Priest racking up yards on the ground.  He is a must start and could easily be a steal in the draft this year.
RB
Larry
Johnson
High #1 L.J. is one of the most coveted RB's in this years draft.  He is projected at over 2,000 yds this year and 15 tds. If you have the first pick in this years draft, you should pick him.  Oh yea, he's also a great receiver.
WR
Eddie
Kennison
High #2 This year looks to be another solid year for Eddie.  What he lacks in big play capabilities, he makes up for in consistency and yards.  Eddie is a solid #2 receiver for you fantasy team look to pick him up between the 4th and 5th rounds.
WR
Sammie
Parker
Low #3 Sammie is looking to have a breakout year this year.  He showed us a little of what he can do last year.  I don't think he is worth a draft pick, but definately keep an eye on the waiver wire after the first couple weeks.
TE
Tony
Gonzales
High #1 Last year was an average year comparitively for Gonzo.  I don't think that will happen this year.  With L.J. starting the season, we will see a lot of play action passes up the middle to Gonzo and he will be unstoppable to the poor little CB's who can't tackle the big man.  Look to draft Gonzo early, around the 3rd and 4th round because he is worth it.
PK
Laurence
Tynes
Low #1 He had a great season last year, and should be producing good numbers this year with arguabley the #1 offense in the NFL.  Tynes is draftable, not before the 10th round though

News: Week 17: Need a prayer

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

The Chiefs won convincingly at home last week defeating the Chargers and sending their post season hopes straight down the drain.  Also, keeping their own alive.  The Chiefs need a prayer this week in order to advance to the playoffs.  Not only do they need to win, but BOTH Pittsburgh and San Diego must lose.  Something that most likely will not happen, and the Chiefs will stay at home with a 10-6 record and no playoffs.

Chiefs president Carl Peterson has proposed that the playoff structure be reformated to allow 14 teams into the post season, instead of the current 12.  I completely agree with this since this year has the possibility of 3 teams at 10-6 not advancing to the playoffs.  This in my opinion is completely ridiculous.

This week the Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals for the season finale.  The shootout we were looking for last week, should emerge this week.  The Bengals are still fighting for the #3 seed, but they will be resting most of their defensive players since most of them are on the injury report.  Palmer will be Palmer as always.  And Trent will look to pass for 4,000 yds this year.  This will be a great game, and the Chiefs should come out on top.

Larry Johnson (High #1) Once again gains over 100 yds for his 8th straight game.  If this man is on your roster, and you are not in a keeper league, convince your commish to make it one next year.  Because he will be the top pick in the draft for next year.  Guaranteed.
This week, Larry will be Larry. 'nuff said.

Trent Green (High #1) Trent really could have thrown for 300 yds last week.  But the Chargers just didn't show up.  So there was no need.  This week, he faces a suspect pass D in the Bengals and he will be giving his best shot at reaching 4,000 passing yds.  You should expect 330 yds this week and 2 TD's

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) Should be coming to form this week.  The Bengals pass D has been suspect all year.  And I seriously doubt they will be able to stop Gonzo in Arrowhead this week.  Expect at least 80 yds and a score.

Eddie Kennison (High #1)  Played for most the game last week, but didn't produce much.  That will change this week as he is not even listed on the injury report.  Look for Eddie to receive at least 100 yds and a TD.

Sammie Parker (High #3) Performed great last week stepping into Eddie's slot catching a 42 yd TD pass. He will be returning to his normal position this week, but should be the recipient of at least 75 to 100 yds.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) Botched an extra point last week and missed a FG.  Very unlike Tynes to pull that off.  He should see most of his action this week in the XP column.

For the defense.  If you are in a bind this week, the Chiefs 'D could be of some help.  The Bengals are banged up bad and may be resting their players at the half.  That usually means more sacks and forced fumbles.  And Arrowhead is arguably the toughest stadium to play in the month of December.

Time & Date of this Update (PST):   18:45 on Thu Dec 22 2005  :

News:  Week 16, Crunch Time

Fantasy Football Slant
:
Another tough loss, this time to the NFC East leading Giants.  The Chiefs were beat on every side of the ball.  Especially defensively.  They could have never showed up for that game and played better than they did last Sunday.

This week, the Chiefs come home to Arrowhead to face the division rival San Diego Chargers.  This will be a high scoring event to say the least.  After not showing up last week in Giants stadium, the Chiefs fall one spot to the #2 Offense in the league.  While the Chargers hold the #6 spot in total offense. The Chiefs have beat the Chargers in Arrowhead 7 of the last 8 times.  This I'm sure will be a good ol' fashioned western shoot out.

Larry Johnson (High #1) Has not gained less than 100 yds. since starting for Priest Holmes 7 weeks ago.  The Chargers destroyed the Colts' running game last week.  They also kept both Priest and Larry in check the last time they played.  Larry may not get his 100 yds rushing this week, but he'll get over 100 yds total with the recieving yards he will get.  I'd be willing to bet he gets 1 TD rushing and 1 recieving.

Trent Green (High #1) Looked downright awful last week. Look for him to bounce back in a big way, especially since Safety Terrence Kiel is out for the Bolts  and Bhawoe Jue is questionable on the injury report.  Trent should be good for 300 yds and 3 TD's

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) will get some overtime this week due to Eddie Kennison's injury.  He will be a great option this week since the Chargers are now the #1 run stopping defense. Gonzo should be good for 100yds and a score

Eddie Kennison (Low #3)  is still on an uncertain status for playing this week.  He is battling a knee injury sustained last week against the Giants so I would suggest benching Kennison.

Sammie Parker (High #2) should be getting alot of looks this week.  With Kennison injured and Jammer most likely covering Gonzo, Sammie will be open for the long ball.  Look for him to recieve at least 100 yds. and 1 TD.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) will see most of his action in the XP column.  But I would still say he is a solid start this week with at least 3 XP and a FG.

For the defense.  As I stated last week the Chiefs' defense was running on heart and soul and their tank ran out.  They should however refuel this week since they are at home, but the Bolts will still get theirs.  I wouldn't suggest starting thier defense for your fantasy superbowl or semi-final. _____________________________________________

News:  Week 15, Still in the thick of things

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

A tough loss last week against the Cowboys.  But fortunately, the Chargers and Jaguars lost also, so the AFC wild card race will still stand as it was last week.  They lost in the final minute in a very hard fought game.  But believe it or not, the Cowboys actually found a way to win in the last minute to edge out the Chiefs to keep them alive in the NFC East.

This week, the Chiefs stay on the road to face the New York Giants. This is still a must win situation for both teams.  Eli Manning is virtually flawless when playing at home, but I feel the Chiefs may have a few cards to play.  Namely somebody called Larry Johnson.

Larry Johnson (High #1) Has not been stopped since he started over Priest Holmes. If Ryan Moats can run all over the giants, then this should be all about Larry this week.  Again expect at least 100 yds and a TD.
Trent Green (Low #1) has averaged over 111 qb rating in the last 4 games.  He has been very consistent and solid through their playoff bid during a very tough schedule. Philly exploited the Giants run defense last week.  So I am sure that will be all that is on their gameplan this week. Plus the temp. will be in the low 20's for the game so another reason to keep it on the ground. You should still expect at least 225 yds and 1 TD this week.

Tony Gonzalez (High #2) did get around 90 yds recieving but that is pretty much par for the course this year.  Expect at least 75 yds this week.

Eddie Kennison (Low #2) also received a little over 90 yds and a TD last week.  I wouldn't expect that much this week with the temperatures in NY being so low and Larry Johnson doing his thing.  I would expect most likely 60 - 75 yds recieving.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) didn't score a FG last week in a hard fought game, but did come up with 4 XP.  Still not bad, but should be able to get a FG this week with the grueling field conditions.

For the defense.  Statistically they are doing above average.  But that's stats.  The Chiefs defense has been running on all heart and soul the last few weeks and its tough to imagine they can keep this up.  For the team, lets hope so.  But I can't imagine they can keep this up for the rest of the season. This is the fantasy playoffs now and I seriously doubt anyone is actually using their Defense.  If you are though, you might be pleasantly surprised because Defenses usually thrive in low temp bad weather games.  If you are one of those players who pick up defenses every week, this week may be a pleasant surprise with a low scoreing game.

News:  Week 14, Right in the thick of things

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

After 3 weeks of solid predictions for the Chiefs, boy did I ever get it wrong last week.  The Chiefs defense was solid, the offense produced, and so did Larry Johnson rushing all over the top rated rushing defense. The Chiefs are now right in the thick of the wildcard race thanks to a big win over the  AFC West leading Denver Broncos.

This week, the Chiefs go on the road to face the Dallas Cowboys in a must win situation for both teams.  I say that the Chiefs are in a must win because the Jaguars have a very light schedule ahead of them, and the Chargers is not too difficult either.  On the other hand, the Chiefs schedule is very tough, and the Cowboys have got to defeat the Chiefs if they are to have any chance of making the playoffs.  This will definately be a game to watch.

Larry Johnson (High #1) I will now eat my words and call myself Shirley.  Never again will I EVER suggest benching Larry Johnson.  Don't expect anything less than 100yds and a TD.

Trent Green (High #1) will also be a must start this week.  Even though the Cowboys do have a pretty tough secondary, the Trent has found ways to cut the creases.  Expect at least 225 yds and 2 TD's.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) found the endzone this week, but not much else.  Champ Bailey was assigned to Tony last week, and he got an INT off of him.  Thus he wasn't thrown at.  The Cowboys will most likely do the same with Roy Williams.  Tony is hard to bench, but don't expect much more than 50 yds and should cross the goal line again this week.

Eddie Kennison (Low #1) Didn't see much coverage from Champ last week and actually hit the century mark last week.  Im not sure if he will again this week, but I would expect 75 yds and a TD this week.

Laurence Tynes (High #1) is consistent as always.  Im sure owners have not considered benching him at anypoint.  Expect at least 2 FG's and 3 XP this week.

For the defense.  I will once again eat my words and call myself Shirley on this one.  The Chiefs defense has improved in every game the last three weeks.  They are ranked 5th against the run and 8th against the pass in Fantasy points.  I would be willing to bet that they are still on the waiver wire, and if you are in question of your current defense, I would reccomend picking them up.  They are gaining momentum in their push to a playoff birth and they must play tough to get them through the rest of their schedule.

News:  Week 13, Keep'n hopes alive, barely

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

Last week the Chiefs had another convincing win.  This time against the world champion Patriots.  Larry Johnson rushed for over 100 yds for the third week in a row.  Trent Green threw for over 300 yds and the defense had 3 interceptions.  Unfortunately, this was most likely the last week the Chiefs will win a convincing game for the rest of the season.

This week, the Chiefs host the AFC West leading Denver Broncos.  Back in week 3, the Broncos destroyed the Chiefs in every aspect of the game.  The only advantage the Chiefs will have this week is home field.  The Broncos do struggle on the road, but not enough to lose the game.  I fear last week will most likely be the Chiefs last win, because the next 4 games will be against teams fighting for their rights to win thier division (Cowboys, Giants, Chargers, Bengals).

Larry Johnson (High #2) I'm sure will be tough to bench considering his godly like performances the last 3 weeks.  But heed my words when I say, Bench him.  The Broncos run defense is not just #1.  They have only allowed 6 rushing TD's all year.  Second only to the Bears in that category.  In week 3 they held Priest to only 67 yds rushing. I am sorry to say that L.J. will meet his match this week against the Broncos.  Expect only 75 yds rushing and if he finds the endzone, consider it a blessing.

Trent Green (Low #1) The Broncos can be thrown on.  But usually by teams that have good WR's.  Trent can find ways to throw the ball, lets just hope that his receiving corps can catch the ball.  Don't expect much from Trent this week.  200 yds 1 TD 1 INT

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) will be Trent's only option this week.  If Gonzo is going to break the century mark, this is going to be the game.  The Chiefs will not get their running game going, so it will be up to Tony to get it going for them.  You should expect 100 yds from him this week, and pray for a score.

Eddie Kennison (Low #2) will have Champ Bailey all over him like white on rice.  Champ was named the defensive player of the month last month with 3 INT's and a TD.  If Eddie catches the ball, it won't be for much.  I would reccomend benching him this week.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) may see more action with Champ on Kennison. Also Daunte Hall will not be in the game this week.  If you are in a DEEP league and have an EMERGENCY situation, Sammie would be a good pickup since Trent will be forced to throw the ball.  And it won't be in Bailey's direction.

Laurence Tynes (High #1) will most likely be the Chiefs leading scorer this week.  Since the Broncos rushing Defense is #1 and the Chiefs passing game is not that good.  Expect at least 2 FG's more like 3 from Tynes this week.

For the defense,  don't bother this week.  And quite frankly, the rest of the season.

News:  Week 12, Keep’n hopes alive

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

Last week in Houston, Larry Johnson unleashed the beast.  Rushing for 211 yds and setting a new franchise record.  Priest who?  Well not quite yet, but he is making a bid to force the Priest into retirement rushing like that.  The Chiefs destroyed the Texans and looked very good doing it.  But, the time has come to play with the big boys and host the New England Patriots in Arrowhead this week.

The Chiefs are 3-1 against the Pats in Arrowhead and desperately needing to win again this week if they are to keep pace with the Chargers.   This will definately be a high scoring event considering the defenses on both sides of the ball.

Larry Johnson (High #1) is a must start this week. Duh.  Larry will also get more involved in the passing game this week so tack on at least 50 yds receiving with at least another 100 yds rushing and a score.

Trent Green (High #1) Last year Trent registered 381 yds and 2 TD's against the very good Pats defense.  This year, the Pats defense is not so good.  Expect another 300 yd game from Trent with 2 TD's.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) once again was the teams leading receiver with 96 yards, but still no score.  Tony has only registered 1 TD this year.  I can only figure that is because of the dominating rushing attack that the Chiefs posses.  Expect at least another 80-100 yds out of Gonzo this week and hopefully Trent will give him some love.

Eddie Kennison (Low #1) did earn his paycheck last week scoring 2 TD's and 57 yds receiving.  He would have broke 100 yds if it weren't for a 44 yd 3rd down drop during the game.  I would expect at least 1 TD from Eddie this week and 100 yds receiving.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) found the endzone last week and 23 yds receiving.  If you are hurting this week for a receiver, he might be a descent pick up for this game.  It will be a shoot out, that is for sure.

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) was good from 35 yds for his only field goal of the contest last week.  He also had a whopping 6 extra points to go along with that.  I would expect at least 2 field goals from Tynes this week because the last 13 games against the Pats have been decided by 8 points or less.

For the defense, the Chiefs only recorded 1 sack against the Texans last week.  I would suspect that number will rise a couple more this week with 2 rookie lineman for the Pats and no real running game.

News:  Week 11, Coming home for dinner

[b]Fantasy Football Slant:

Last week proved that the Bills defense was too much for the Chiefs.  With both Tackles Willie Roaf (hamstring) and Kevin Sampson (shoulder) out for the game, the Bills exploited their absence and sacked Trent Green 6 times and forced 1 fumble.  The Chiefs' defense was actually a bright spot in the game, containing the Bill's offense most of the game.  They only allowed 2 big plays.  Unfortunately both for touchdowns.

This week the Chiefs face the woeful Texans at home.  The Chiefs will look to take advantage of this team while they can because 5 of their next 7 games are against division leaders.

Larry Johnson (High #1)has officially achieved stud status rushing for 132 yds and 46 yds receiving.  He didn't make it into the endzone last week, but well made up for it in production.  Expect another 100 yard game from Larry and he will make damn sure he crosses the goal line this week.

Trent Green (High #1)will be looking to come back this week against a poor Houston secondary.  He will also get the pleasure of Sammie Parker's return to help out in the receiving dept.  Willie Roaf will still be out, so he may still be pressed for quick passes.  But, I doubt his jersey will get dirty this week.  Expect 250 yds and 2 TD's out of him this week.

Tony Gonzalez (High #1) was last weeks leading receiver (again) with 86 yds.  The Chiefs were only in the red zone 3 times last week.  And each of those times they only took 1 snap.  I don't see them having that problem this week and Gonzo will find pay dirt along with another 80 yards.

Eddie Kennison (Low #2) might actually earn his paycheck this week.  The Texans have their starting CB and Safety out of the game this week which will give Kennison a descent chance to get some big plays.  Expect 100 yds and a score out of him this week.

Sammie Parker (Low #3) is returning this week from a knee injury.  Don't expect a whole lot out of him though.  He will mainly be used to block on screens and run routes for Eddie.  I do see him receiving for 50 yds and does have a chance to score.  Hey, its the Texans.  Anyone has a chance to score right?

Laurence Tynes (Low #1) will be a nice option this week against the Texans. He missed his first FG of the year last week, then missed another one.  But don't let that deter you. The Texans allow 28 pts a game and I expect Tynes to get at least 1 FG and 3 XP.

For the defense, Jared Allen recorded 2 sacks and a FF last week and leads the team with 7 sacks.  This is only his second year and is already tied for 6th in the league for sacks.  If he hasn't been picked up already, now would be a good time against the Texans.

News:  Week 10:  A true testament

Fantasy Football Slant:

Week 10 is upon us now, and what an emotional roller coaster ride week 9 has been.  Priest Holmes goes from questionable to the IR in one day.  Dick Vermeil awards Jim Green (Trent's recently deceased father) the game ball after a gutsy goal line call to win the game in the last seconds against the Oakland Raiders.  And Larry Johnson goes from fighting for playing time, to the weight of the team on his shoulders.

The Chiefs go on the road this week to face a solid Buffalo squad, fresh off a bye.  This week will be a true testament to the team to find out if they can overcome their loss of Priest Holmes and let everyone know that they are for real.

Larry Johnson (high #1) will be carrying the load this week against the top ranked pass defense at Buffalo.  Look for at least 100yds and 2 TD's because fortunately, Buffalo is also ranked 31st against the run.  Allowing a league leading 13 TD's in 8 games.

Tony Richardson (who?) will be backing up Larry for now, and as I see it, in the near future.  Tony is a two time Pro Bowl full back (2003 and 2004) and has great hands.  He caught a TD pass last week against Oakland and may be used as a change of pace back in the receiving dept. now that Priest is out for the season.  He is an 11 year veteran of the Chiefs and if anyone on that offense knows the playbook, he does.  I seriously doubt anyone owns him.  But, keep an eye out if you are in deeper leagues because he could be a surprise sleeper in weeks to come and steal some TD's from Gonzo and Larry.

Trent Green (High #2) is normally a must start.  But, Buffalo's pass D is solid, and his WR's are far from having the ability to make many big plays from their speedy secondary.  If you have a QB with a better matchup this week, put him in and bench Trent.  Look for mediocre production (relative to his normal prod.) out of Green this week. 1 TD, 200 yds. and 1 int.

Tony Gonzalez (Low #1) had 5 rec. for 70 yds. last week and looks to be regaining his form of old.  He will be up against a tough defense this week, but will be Trent's only option for most of the game.  Look for him to gain around 100 yds. this week and a score.  His height advantage will be too much for London Fletcher (5'10) to handle.  So they will most likely be throwing to Gonzo all day down the middle.

Eddie Kennison (Low #3) only had 5 rec. for 60 yds. last week against a suspect pass defense in Oakland.  There's nothing suspect about Buffalo's secondary and Kennison will most likely be lunch meat this week.  Play him if you must, but I would sit him if you have a WR with a better matchup.

For the Defense.  Honestly, if you are using the Chiefs' 28th ranked defense, you are in more trouble than the Texans are this week against the Colts.  But, I will make an honorable mention for the IDP'ers.  Rookie OLB Derrick Johnson has racked up 55 tck 1 sck and 1 fmr this year.  If you are in a pinch, he might fill the void.
