Title: New to Site - Who to start questions
Post by Cruiser109 on Dec 17th, 2005, 10:58am
Hi everyone......new to this site, and I have some issues with my starting lineup this week.  Let me first give some league info:

Start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, Flex, TE, K, Team D/ST
Score 1 point per 10 yards rushed/received or 15 passed.
Att TDs start at 6 points, and increase by 1 point by distance after the first 10 yards i.e. a 11 yard TD = 7 points.  3 point bonus at 100 yards rushed/received, and also 1 point per reception.

My opponent is the best team in the league, to who I've lost twice already this year.  He starts Palmer, LJ, DD, S. Smith, Holt and Boldin.

I have P. Manning, LT, Tiki, TJ, G. Jones, Harrison, Galloway, J. Smith, and K. Robinson.

Right now I'm starting LT, Tiki, TJ, Harrison and Galloway, but I'm thinking J. Smith might have a good game, but unsure if I should play him at WR2 ahead of Galloway, or at flex ahead of TJ, or leave him on the bench.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Edit:  Also would appreciate advice on Defense/ST.  I have Indy and Minny.....both have tough matchups.  Available off the WW are GB, SD, Det, Ariz, NYJ, Cle and NE (a couple more not worth mentioning).  Get points for yardage allowed, points allowed, sackes, fumbles recovered, blocked anything, INTs and the big points for TDs.

If I had your team, my lineup would look like this:

P.Manning
LT
Tiki
Marvin
Galloway
Jimmy Smith

And I'd pick up NE, as they play at home in the cold vs. Tampa, not a good cold team. With Brady hurt, it will be a NE run fest, keeping the game low scoring.

Thanks for the reply.  I had been leaning towards taking out TJ for J. Smith, if I made a move.  You don't think Chicago will use TJ to run all over Atlanta in the cold?  This is what's been holding me back from making that change, to be honest.

Yeah, that was a concern of mine, but Jimmy Smith vs the Niner secondary is a great matchup.

Sorry if this is too late, Cruiseman... [smiley=cruisin.gif] ... :-[ I'm guessing it is...  The old admin here lives out in HI [smiley=palmtree.gif] and typically doesn't wake up until after kickoff.  So, note that it is best if you want the old Stegger's take to get your post up a.e.a.p.

Anyway, here is what I hope you did/can still do... [smiley=fingerscrossed.gif]

Manning, Tomlinson, Barber, Harrison, Smith, Robinson, and I would have used New England or Cleveland or Minnesota in that order at D/ST.

Regarding benching Galloway, and going with NE on defense for that matter, I just have a feeling [smiley=cold.gif] that the cold weather is going to get to the Bucs today in New England.  Furthermore, regarding going with Robinson, I just have a feeling he is going to pop a BIG one... OR TWO... OR MORE!

Well, good luck [smiley=shamrock.gif] AND [smiley=welcome.gif] to "the Gridiron", mate!  Again, sorry about responding late.  (There go those natural rhyming skills, again. [smiley=singin.gif][smiley=jammaster.gif])  But, I hope there will be future opportunities and that I come to know you over time here on "the Gridiron".

Thanks for the responses guys.  I had to leave home at 1 est today, but before I did, I dropped Indy D for NE D (started them), and benched Galloway for Smith.  You've given me something to think about with Robinson StegRock, so I'll have some thinking to do.  Tiki just gave me a great boost over LJ, so I may have a shot tomorrow :)

By the way, thanks for the welcome StegRock.......I'm glad I found this site - it looks very interesting, and there's a ton of information here.
