i got offered this in another league...was wondering what everyone was thinking...

i get:
Kevin Jones
2.2 rookie pick this year
1st round pick next year

this is a 16 team league with IDPs and standard scoring so the 2.2 is actually the 18th pick in the draft....what do you all think?

Kind of a close call, but, right now, even if this were a deep keeper league, despite Edge's going to the notoriously crappy [smiley=chicken.gif]'s, considering the current glut of running backs in the NFL and the new regime in Detroit, I would NOT do it. I'd stick with the VERY proven guy, albeit it in an uncertain, but somewhat optimistic situation, over the essentially unproven guy in definitely uncertain and questionable circumstances. Good luck! I'd be hesitant to make any sort of trade right now. I'd wait until the summer when the NFL draft is complete, the second wave (post June 1) of free agency is behind us, and we have a much clearer picture of what every team is going to look like.

You have no reason to do this deal sooner than later in my opinion, as Edge's value can only increase between now and the summer - based on what the team does until then.

Tough call w/o seeing your roster. How is the rest of your RB stable?

In a 16 team league, 1st round picks are critical. Getting the 1st next year could yield you a good pick.

IMO, Edge will suffer this year. AZ still has major concerns along the o-line, and with those big WR studs, Warner will still be throwing quite a bit in the RZ.

I agree with Philly that this isn't the time to make the trade. AZ is going to be a darling pick this year in the West. Doubtful they get a wildcard with the stacked NFC South and East, but they'll still get some good press. Edge's value will go up.

But I'd look long at this trade come late June-mid July. Again, depending on the rest of your roster.

well roster isnt complete because we are about to start Unrestricted Free Agency....Edge was a franchise player that was traded to me for the 1.6 pick in the rookie draft....i also have deuce mcalister franchised....RBs remaining are Chris Brown, Jac Backs, Mike Anderson...that is about it....kevan barlow....this is a salary cap league....by trading edge i also lose 2mil in cap space....but rookies can be put under contracts for up to 4 years....but my RBs are jus Edge and Deuce....
