Title: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by Philly on Aug 11th, 2006, 9:38am Every year I post my top ten lists and it always generates lots of fun discussion and plenty of other top ten lists. Have at it! 1. LaDainian Tomlinson He's the most consistent back out there. Look for him to be the recipient of many an outlet pass. 2. Shaun Alexander Very durable and lots of yards and scores. He'd be #1 if it wasn't for that silly Madden curse... 3. Larry Johnson The O-line changes are a bit disconcerting, but he'll still get the touches and the points. 4. Clinton Portis He and Gibbs are on the same page finally. Has the best shot of any of the backs to break into the top 3. 5. Tiki Barber He's still the most versatile back in the league and will be relied on very heavily. 6. LaMont Jordan Art Shell will run this guy into the ground, and then he'll throw him some passes too. 7. Steven Jackson He only had 250 carries in 05. There will be more opportunities this year. 8. Edgerrin James He's good, but the Cards' O-line isn't as good as the Colts' O-line was. 9. Rudi Johnson He's one of the few Bengals not on parole. Look for him to continue to hold off Chris Perry. 10. Brian Westbrook If (and this is a BIG if) he stays healthy, he's as dangerous a back as there is in the league. |

Title: Re: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by Larsen89 on Aug 11th, 2006, 1:06pm I would have to agree w/that Tony. Just not a fan of Westbrook, he's on my Ron Dayne, what have you done for me lately list. :-X Did I just say that!!!!! |

Title: Re: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by Philly on Aug 11th, 2006, 1:19pm I'm making the (very risky) assumption that Westbrook stays healthy for the season, in which case I think he'd be even higher than #10. The guy averages 4.5 yards a carry (and his line is even better this year) and nearly 10 yards a catch (plus he rarely fumbles). The Eagles will want to run the ball more this year, but will still resort to using Westbrook as an outlet receiver a lot. Of course, he has to stay healthy -- something he was unable to do after one series in the first pre-season game. I have no qualms about Caddy (or Ronnie Brown) sliding into the #10 spot either. |

Title: Re: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by StegRock on Aug 11th, 2006, 5:33pm 1-3... right, according to most of the "experts",... and while I like your dropping of L.J. to #3, I shake my Top 3-6 quite a bit more (it's the one thing really being "discussed" down on the "Steg's Plays" board) 4-5... are about right. 6... no way. 7... not quite. 8-9... no way. 10... NOT QUITE, and that's NOT considering the injury risk; if you do, then it's NO WAY (this is a homer pick, me thinks). Overall, I obviously don't like it as much as your QB list... I understand that you guys don't know "which way" my "no ways" point (higher or lower), but, again, understand that with my new ventures (to try to make the magazine happen next year), I pretty much have to leave it at that. In VERY short, I've been very good at predicting RB's. It's a knack I have, and it's, in all honesty, probably the one that carries me. I just happen to be that what I happen to have a knack at is key to this hobby. I moved Jamal Lewis, Brian Westbrook, Curtis Martin and Priest Holmes, ALL, last year to the shagrin of almost ALL the guys here, especially my trading Priest. After a championship season in the GBRFL, a DEEP keeper league, I knew I had been fortunate and that my team was crusty and I needed to retool for the future. At RB, I now have Dunn and the (potential) upswingers, Benson, Dayne and M. Barber and the additional stats Vick, who I acquired in one of those trades, will give. Not that I have Dayne and Benson or Barber ranked that high, but each of them is, in some way, an upswing player that I can (begin to) rebuild around. Bottom line, while, OF COURSE not perfect, I have proven to be a pretty darn good evaluator of tailbacks here for the last four years, and I don't like this list, so... Take it for whatever it's worth... I have to pitch here... For a lousy 10 or so bucks, you guys would be havin' a ball with me down on the StegsList.com board here on "the Gridiron", "Steg's Plays", regarding talkin' RB's... I have to leave it at this, though, here. Thank you for your understanding. |

Title: Re: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by Larsen89 on Aug 13th, 2006, 9:26am Ok, I can't hold out any longer, here's mine, pretty similiar to everyone else's though. 1. S. Alexander 2. L. Tomlinson 3. L. Johnson 4. C. Portis 5. R. Johnson 6. R. Brown 7. C. Taylor (laugh all you want, he's going to tear it up) 8. C. Williams 9. T. Barber 10. W. Parker (laugh again, just don't pass him up on draft day.) ;) When it gets down to 9-14, it's pretty much a toss up, you have to go w/personal preference, this is mine. |

Title: Re: Top Ten Fantasy RBs for 2006 Post by Philly on Aug 13th, 2006, 9:46pm For what it's worth... I like your list Larsen. I don't agree with it, but I wouldn't be completely shocked to see either Chester Taylor or Willie Parker break into the top 10. They both have good lines to run behind and coaches that like to run the ball, so it's not outrageous to predict either. |

RE: #7....I'm not laughing, I'm HOPING! But I can't see dropping Edge out of the Top 10 altogether. I'd have to leave him above Parker and Taylor. |
