Title: Reggie Bush
Post by nimzo on Aug 24th, 2006, 11:45am
I'm in a 12 team league that is changing into a keeper league this year. I have the 3rd overall pick in the 1st round. I am seriously considering taking Bush with this pick due to the fact that we are now playing in a keeper league format. What are your thoughts on this?

so this is still a complete redraft year?   or are you keeping last years team?

if this is still a redraft year, you can't pass up LT, LJ or Zander (whichever you get).   It's very likely Bush is available to you in the second if you want to take him there, but realize your RBs will probably be weak this year until Bush is the main guy in NO.

If this is a keeper year, what's your team look like?

This is a redraft year. At the end of the season you can select 1 or 2 players depending on which round(s) they were selected. I am high on Bush because of the future and I know for a fact that he will not be available come my 2nd round pick.

i guess we need more specifics.  if this is just a 1 or 2 keeper league, you'll get plenty of guys you can keep.   Palmer, Brady, Chad Johnson, Maroney, etc.

I wouldn't blow a chance at one of the best fantasy players period for hope that Bush works out and you can keep him next year.

If you elect to keep a player from the 1st or 2nd rnd you can only keep 1 player for the next season. If you select them 3rd rnd or later you can retain 1 or 2 players. You can  keep  players for up to 3 more years if you want to.

I'd pass on Bush and take some fliers on other young RBs (Mike Bell, Joseph Addai, Laurence Maroney, Jerious Norwood, DeAngelo Williams, LenDale White, Brian Calhoun, ... )

These are all guys that can be had later (to much later) than Bush and could be fantasy contributors as early as this season.
