Title: O4L's  Trade/Lineup help thread
Post by Oakland4life on Sep 3rd, 2006, 3:25pm
Ok, here is my team on one of my leagues,

QB- Philip Rivers,  Brad Johnson
RB- Tiki Barber, B. Westbrook, D. McCallister, R. Bush
WR- T.O., A. Bryant, Keyshaw Johnson, Kelley Washington
TE - Jeremy Shockey
K - John Kasay
D- Cowboys

Starting lineup: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 PK, 1 Def
Passing:     25yds =1pt.  300yds = bonus 5
Rushing:    10yds = 1pt.  100yds = bonus 5
Receiving:  10yds = 1pt.  100yds = bonus 5
Touchdowns = 6pts.

I have been offered R. Bush and A. Bryant for Reggie Wayne and W. Lundi.

I think it is a sure fire deal, but getting rid of Reggie this season seems like it would not be prudent.  I really think he will have much better production than Harrison this year because Marvin is WAY over due for an injury.  And I really think Lundi will have a lot of upside this season.  And I will get a mediocre 3 WR but the handcuff to Deuce.

Should I have already hit the accept button?

thanks,

O4L

Well, if it's a DEEP keeper, I say, "Yes!"  If not, I say, "NO!"

Title: Re: Trade offer
Post by Oakland4life on Sep 3rd, 2006, 7:48pm
I wouldnt go so far as saying DEEP like the GoTG, but it is 14 teams, 1 keeper.  And I can keep a RB next year.

So, maybe I'll just sweat it out for the next few weeks with McCallister as my back up.

Oak, That's a great trade for you in any format, you are crazy not to take it, especially in a keeper league.

First off your RBs are good, but Bush makes a better keeper than Westbrook, McAllister or Barber.

Secondly, Antonio Bryant is not that much of a drop-off from Wayne.  Wayne is a quintessential #2 receiver, he's only valuable because Peyton Manning throws to him.  Bryant should be the top target in an offense that needs to throw alot.

Thirdly, (Is that a word ?), Lundi is a fashionable commodity right now, but Morency is the better runningback and should steal a bunch of carries, if not eventually take the job outright.  (Assuming the Texans don't sign anyone else).

But, how successfully???  The preseason may have fooled us.  I think, like what you say below about Lundi, Bryant seems A LOT better right now than what he WILL end up being.

In any event, an Indy #2 is a mere #2.  And, furthermore, just because he's been stuck by a great, doesn't make him a mere #2.  I think he could be a #1.  In any event, I think the jury hasn't come a conclusion on that one.

Bottom line, I STRONGLY DISagree.

No need to reword this...  Bottom line, I STRONGLY AGREE!

The Texans signed Ron Dayne today.

By way of example, Randy Moss is perhaps a prototypical #1 receiver.

I say Reggie Wayne is a #2, because of his physical attributes.  He is not particularly fast, or dominating size-wise, he's just a good football player.   Probably the reason you like him so much, is that he is very similiar to one of your favorite guys, Hines Ward.

Antonio Bryant is a similiar player, I don't think he's a true #1 either, he doesn't have the deep speed.

On paper, Wayne and Bryant had almost identical statistical seasons in 2005, 1,000 yards 4-5 TDs.  I just have more faith in Alex Smith I guess.  I think he will be much improved over last year, especially now that he is playing in Norv Turners offense (which is simplier than that jackass version of the West Coast they were running last year).

btw, as we speak, you have probably heard that Ron Dayne is now a Texan, so Lundy's value probably took an additional hit.

Thanks for the input guys  ;D

I accepted the trade.  I was thinking along the lines of what JYJ stated about keeping R. Bush over my other RB's for next year.  I hate losing Wayne, but I feel Wayne for Bush is a solid trade.   I appreciate the help from you all  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  Thank you

I have updated my team lineup in the beginning post.

My dilemma is this, Tiki and Westbrook are playing against eachother this week and I don't think starting both of them would be prudent.  I am thinking of starting Reggie Bush @ GB this week over Westbrook. What do yous think?

Also, Joe Horn has me worried now.  Should I start Keyshawn @ MIN this week over Horn?  Any response would help alot.

Thank you  [smiley=toocool.gif]

The Texas just traded Morency for Gado.  Dayne and Gado are both pretty decent threats to take carries away from Lundi.  This is another reason you made the right call.

I had Horn all last year and continually thought he would turn it around.  He did not really do so.  As for Keyshawn, I am not a huge fan.  I would stick with Horn.  He is the better receiver.

As for Bush, I would keep him on the bench this week.

I like Reggie Bush against GB, but I wouldn't start him over Brian Westbrook. BWB has done well against the Giants in his career and is still the starting RB for an Eagles team with a very good offense. There's no reason why Tiki and BWB can't both have good days... But, if you're convinced that you can't start both of them, then go with Tiki and Reggie Bush and you should be fine.

For WR, I think you'll be safe with Keyshawn since Steve Smith is (apparently) still going to be out. But Joe Horn is the #1 option at WR for the Saints with an experienced QB and a very weak defense to play against. I don't know why you'd let one poor showing send you into panic mode.

I'm with Phil, KevRock...  You gotta play it conservative here...  You do NOT bench Tiki, and I say you go with Westbrook.  BUT, again, like Jeff said, if you just have a hunch about Bush this week, go for it.  It does look like a GREAT week to field him...  But, then again, won't there be lots of those hunches with Reggie alllllll yeeeeear loooooong.  Can't you just wait until Tiki's and Westbrook's bye-weeks to satisfy your hunch(es)?  If you can, then that is what I would recommend.  If not, go for it.  It's probably a decent (though, I think, unnecessary) roll of the dice.  And, as for your receiver sitch,... Horn has you worried, but Keyshawn doesn't!!!  Come on!  You GOT TO NOT get jelly legs and stick with "your" guy and go with Horn here!  Good luck! [smiley=shammy.gif]

Thanks a million for the input guys.  Joe Horn has me frettn because I also owned him last year.  Im not in panic mode.....yet..... but because of the turmoil I went through with him last year, I am probably quicker to bench him this year.

As far as Reggie, I will go ahead and just feel good about him scoring points on my bench.  My main goal for attaining Reggie this year was so he can be my keeper for next year.  So, I guess I can wait it out and feel good when my studs have a bye and THEN I can give Reggie the rock.

You guys rock  [smiley=headbanger.gif] THANKS!!!

Ok, here is my dillema.  I am starting B. Johnson and I am now starting Troy Williamson for the double whammy against Detroit this week.

Keyshawn is playing against a banged up Cleveland secondary, and A. Bryant is also playing against a banged up Raiders secondary.  Who do you think I should start?  Bryant, or Keyshawn?

Title: Re: O4L's  Trade/Lineup help thread

I would personally go with Keyshawn and Bryant in that order (so there's your answer) over Williamson.  Good luck!

(oops, i may this week - YIKES - )...
as for your question,  i'm diggin' KEYSHAWN over BRYANT because i'm just plain scared to give any props to SF right now [smiley=bee.gif]...hope that helps,

Just when you think there's some offense to look for in SF again, they hang a big donut on the scoreboard.   Not enough consistency there for me.  I'd go with Williamson and Keyshawn.

Good luck!

SF played a good team last week. They play the Raiders this week. I really like Bryant and Williamson this week because of the matchups. (Although I don't think you go wrong with Keyshawn either...)

Ok, please someone tell me Im NOT crazy, but this week I am benching Tiki Barber for Deuce McCallister.

I really do not like Tiki's matchup this week against the Falcons, and I feel pretty good about having deuce to replace him.  Whatya think?

Also, my starting WR lineup are ALL projected BUSTS this week.  Anyone lend a hand in that dept?  Thanks for any and all input.

[smiley=yes.gif] [smiley=yes.gif]  You're crazy  [smiley=gonecrazy.gif] [smiley=gonecrazy.gif] [smiley=gonecrazy.gif]  ...but in this scenario, you're making the right call.   ;)

The Falcons have only given 20 pts to RBs ALL YEAR!  And they're getting Abraham back.   The Eagles have allowed 49 pts so far (more than double!)   The only risk is, if McNabb has another great game and gets the Eagles up early, it'll be more Reggie than Deuce.  But with the Falcons being so tough vs. the run, and Brandon Jacobs stealing the tough running yards, I'd go with the Deuce.

As for WRs, yeah, that's tough.  Moss would be a must start if it weren't for his QB sitch.  As long as you're staring Westy (which I'm assuming), then I'd go with Horn.  If you are starting both Bush and Deuce (risky), I'd go with Moss.

Come to that, have you considered Reggie over Deuce?   Again, if the Eagles are up early, you could see a lot more of him than Deuce, especially late.

Good luck!

Post by Oakland4life on Oct 13th, 2006, 3:10pm
Well, I have contemplated putting Reggie in, but I'm a little more confident in the Saint's D'.  I'm thinking it will be similiar to the Cowboys game last week.  Tough fought game till about the mid 4th Qtr. then the Eagles will run away with it.  Hopefully by then, Deuce will already have amassed a TD and good yardage.

Thanks for the input.

P.S.  TEAM UPDATE......  I have just traded off Randy Moss and Joe Horn for Terrell Owens.  I think this was a good move considering each WR's schedules and QB situation.  So I will be starting Terrell Owens against Houston this week Wooot!!

Yea, I got a great game out of Owens, and of course, Horn blows up as well.  Me personally, was really getting sick and tired of trying to manage both receivers.  I was driving myself nuts trying to figure out if I should bench one or the other or both.

Now I don't have to worry about it for the rest of the season.  I will be starting T.O.

O.k.  This is more of an after the fact question, but whatya think???

I dropped the Vikings D for the Lions D.  The Lions are playing the Niners this week.  Then next week they play Arizona, and in Week 13 they play Miami.

Minnesota has a descent schedule with Green Bay this week (which I think they will lose) then Miami and Arizona.

I think the Vikes are on a downward spiral and the Lions are up and coming.  I'm hoping Im right, but I can still fix it if you think Im crazy.

The reason why I picked them up so soon, was because I was telling my buddy what I think about the Lions and their defense and I didn't want him to snatch them up.

Thanks

Personally, O4l, I wouldn't have done it...  The Lions have a way of being heart-breakers...  Just when you think they are on the rise, they choke.  I personally would have stuck it out with the "better" team (last week's down game against San Fran aside).
