(Originally posted by Callie on the offseason thread, but moved here...)

I can't find a link yet, but I heard that Roethlisberger had an emergency appendectomy and will be out for at least Week 1!

(And probably at least Week 2 as well.)

Edit:  Here's a link:

Roethlisberger has surgery to remove appendix (http://www.postgazette.com/pg/06246/718879-66.stm)

Man, just when his owners were elated after he was OK after the accident, they have to deal with this.  He will miss more than one week that is for sure.  Charlie Batch...YUK!!!  I guess Omar Jacobs will be getting a call to become the back up again.

Here's a nasty funky rumor going around. Keep in mind that I cant even see a lick of truth to it but here go's anyway. Seems Profootballtalk. com has unleased a rumor that the Steelers are interested in aquiring either Jerry Porter or Randy Moss in order to add size to there horribly short and soft wide reciever core. I personally think profootballtalk.com is full of crap!

How bad are things going for the defending Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers right now? Right guard Kendall Simmons will sit out Sunday's game because of an ice burn on his left foot.

It's a 'go' for Roethlisberger (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06301/733710-66.stm)
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (10/28/06)
Roethlisberger went through a full practice for the second day in a row and has not had any problems passing all the tests necessary to receive medical clearance to play.

His condition will be monitored right up to game time to make sure there are no post-concussion symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness or blurred vision.

But for how much time on the field?  Would you risk him against the Raiders?

I think there are alot of Viking Fans who would like to have fired Childress and hired Tomlin instead.
