Title: Chargers In-Season Report
Post by DirkDiggler on Sep 3rd, 2006, 8:58pm
WOW, bad news for the Chargers from a defensive perspective.  Starting LB Foley is shot in front of his home.  Unfortunately, he may even face charges stemming from this incident.

Didn't seem to hurt the Chargers too baddly, offensively (mentally) or defensively (shutting out the raiders).  They were even able to finish off a couple of drives with touchdowns - something they were unreliable on at best last season!

For those of you sniffing around the Chargers D after their shutting down Oakland Week One and seeing a yummy matchup this week against Tennessee, know that one key part will be missing this week...  From "The REAL Feed":

Chargers DE Olshansky to miss Titans game (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/wires/09/15/2020.ap.fbn.chargers.olshansky.0248/index.html)
SI.com: NFL (15.09.2006 23:30)

Mind you, I still think they are a good play this week. [smiley=whistle.gif]

True bout Olshansky -- but the nfl.com injuries report have him listed as questionable -- while they have TE and DE (kinney and odom) listed as out for Ten -  i'm thinkin s.d. is gonna be a safebet for a win this weekend -

Point that should be well-taken by the fantasy football community...  From "The REAL Feed":

Rivers gets his first big test in Baltimore (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/wires/09/28/2020.ap.fbn.nfl.this.week.adv29.1671/index.html)

okay - yeah but not the end of the world....  [smiley=alcoholic.gif] I mean - there is still hope-- and while i dont agree with steroid use and hopefully the four game suspension will learn him a thing or two - he will be back in time for the post season.  I just dont see the Chargers falling apart over this yet..

now if  Rivers gets in the habit of throwing an interception per game ... i may have to have second thoughts about my faith for this year!!! (o;

See? We're hanging tough! Im not expecting great things from Igor, only because knee surgery is a tenuous thing anyway--- and practice is not the real thing!  But I think that we'll pull through!

Merriman is taking responsibility and that puts him back in the game by post season, but we're still working hard at winning.  Overall? We're a great team - and contenders! Period!  8-)
