Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 1st, 2006, 4:45pm This could be it for Houston... From "The REAL Feed": Jets RB Houston injures knee (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/football/nfl/wires/10/01/2020.ap.fbn.jets.houston.injured.0148/index.html) SI.com: NFL (01.10.2006 16:09) This is terrible news for Houston. I wish him well. But, from a fantasy perspective, this clears things up a bit. Leon Washington becomes quite a good get now. I see his being the yardage and receiving-out-of-the-backfield guy while Barlow will probably remain the touchdown guy. Carries/Touches will probably be roughly split. I see Washington getting a few more, especially considering his receiving ability, but Barlow getting the ones near the goal-line. |

Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by Philly on Oct 8th, 2006, 9:57pm Anyone privy to the goings-on of the Jets this year? I'm wondering why Jon Vilma hasn't been the IDP fantasy beast he was in his first couple years... he's been very quiet thus far. Is it more attention from the blockers? Different responsibilities in the defensive scheme? Something else? |

Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 12th, 2006, 6:23am Update on Martin... From "The REAL Feed": Mangini: No timetable set on Martin's return to Jets (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2622005&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (11.10.2006 19:18) The New York Jets certainly could use a healthy Curtis Martin in their struggling backfield. But coach Eric Mangini said there is no timetable on the running back's return. And, of more pressing significance,... an update on Coles: Jets' Coles listed as questionable (http://www.sportsnetwork.com/default.asp?c=sportsnetwork&page=nfl/news/ABN4044281.htm) The Sports Network: NFL (11.10.2006 19:18) Of course, he has been "questionable" and "playing" for the last four or so weeks now... |

Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 31st, 2006, 3:20am There it is... I think this may just be it...[smiley=wavinbye.gif] I remember draftin' this guy in the 4th round of the GBRFL restocking draft of 1995, the one draft I had to do from South Korea (all the other years I was back in Jersey on vacation). (I digress... I remember getting my beloved [smiley=smitten.gif] Robert Smith too in the 2nd that year.) From "The REAL Feed": Report: Jets' Martin done for season, career in jeopardy (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2644240&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines) ESPN: NFL (31.10.2006 00:21) Curtis Martin, the leading rusher in Jets history, will not play this season because of the same bone-on-bone condition in his right knee that has kept him on the PUP list for the first eight weeks of the season, the Newark Star-Ledger reported. |

Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 31st, 2006, 3:44pm Or, maybe not... I think this is more rhetoric than anything, frankly speaking... From "The REAL Feed": Jets insist season isn't over for RB Martin yet (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6068848?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=5) FOXSports.com :: NFL (31.10.2006 14:51) The New York Jets insisted Curtis Martin has not yet decided to end his season, despite a published report Tuesday that the NFL's No. 4 career rusher has told members of the team he won't return this year. |

Title: Re: Jets In-season Report Post by StegRock on Oct 31st, 2006, 10:19pm Okay... Now we're back to this,... where I think this is headed at the end of the day... From "The REAL Feed": MARTIN SET TO RETIRE (http://www.sportinglife.com/nfl/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=international_feed/06/10/31/GRIDIRON_USA-New_Jersey_Martin.html) Sporting Life: NFL (31.10.2006 15:54) New York Jets running back Curtis Martin is to retire because of his knee injury. The Newark Star Ledger, what was my old man's favorite paper :) and is the source of this piece, also broke the original report this year about Martin's injury which put him on the PUP. They seem to be a reliable source about this situation. They are local. |
